Apartment Life #301
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.
I heard someone on a loud speaker on Wednesday, so I look out my bedroom window and sure enough the police are out there. I saw them walking right across the street to that apartment complex. At first there were two police cars.
And then a third police car pulled up. They all walked across the street.
Then this truck pulls up and a Marshall gets out and meets the police across the street. I know he was a Marshall because he had on a black vest that said Marshall on the back.
And then the fire department ambulance pulls up. I saw a guy come out on the stretcher and his face was all bloody. I watched for about an hour and then they brought out a guy in handcuffs and took him away in a police car. The police stayed there a long time. I am just guessing but I think the guy they arrested beat the crap out of the guy taken to the hospital.
----
I heard something outside so I looked out my bedroom window and spotted this woman smoking from her crack pipe. She kept hiding her head in the sheet but she wasn't very good at hiding and I could clearly see her smoking crack right there. She moved on after about 30 minutes.

The high this week was 91F/32C
The low this week was 54F/12C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

I do hope that the man they arrested isn't released any time soon. Sigh at the subtle (not) crack smoker.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the cops weren't there when she was doing that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wish they had been.
DeleteHi, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI am going to try again to leave a comment on your blog. Starting early yesterday, I attempted to leave a comment three times from two different sites. Each time, the comment published AOK. I made sure before I logged off.
But when I returned later to read your reply and other people's comments, my comment was gone! If this comment gets through, please check your spam and "awaiting moderation" bins for yesterday's comments. I didn't want you to think I forgot about you or ignored your Korn post which I liked a lot.
The police have been putting on a show of force in your neighborhood lately. All that manpower summoned to the scene just to take a guy into custody following an altercation. It must have been a quiet day elsewhere in the precinct. I will assume that you haven't found out how the bloodied man is doing and probably never will.
The crack pipe woman is a sad sight indeed. Living without hope out there on the street is no way to live, but it is her life and describes the lives of many others. With the Vegas daytime high temperature creeping up into the miserable range, her plight and the plight of other homeless will soon become even more desperate.
Thank you for being the Early Bird at Shady's Place yesterday. I wish you a safe and happy week, dear friend Mary!
Thank you, Shady. I did fond the comments in the spam folder and they have been published. Thank you for letting me know.
DeleteAll I know is that there was a fight between the two guys. I don't know them but some new people have moved in across the street. The police have been around here quite a bit recently. The temps are definitely creeping up.
I'm surprised that that they got the guy in hand cuffs. I've seen marshalls show up on scenes. And In Minneapolis, I've observed a lot more cop interactions. Even turned on the police scanner. I wonder what it would be like to hear the police scanner in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteMy brother has a police scanner and listens to it all the time where he is. I thought about getting one.
DeleteThat last photo is so sad. I can't imagine what life is like for a lone woman living on the streets addicted to crack.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of homeless women around here.
DeleteMany things again this week
ReplyDeleteIt's neverending.
DeleteSorry it was business as usual around your place this week.
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
It was a pretty quiet week considering.
DeleteIt looks like the woman has a cat in the carrier. It is a doubly sad situation. Woman addicted to crack and a cat dependent on her.
ReplyDeleteLots of action is all can think.
Yeah she did have a cat in the carrier. When I saw her later that day I saw that she had food and water in the carrier with the cat. It's surprising how many homeless people around here have animals with them.
DeleteWow the Marshall showed up too? I wonder what the guy was wanted for. Another interesting week!
ReplyDeleteI wondered that too.
DeleteNever a dull moment! It’s surprising that the women even tried to hide what she was doing. Must have been sober enough to realize it was a no no.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised too. Most of them don't care to try and hide.
Delete👮🚔🚓🚨
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteNever good when you have three police AND a Marshall!
ReplyDeleteHe must have had a warrant.
DeleteOh my- that's not good. I wonder if the guy made it or if he was just beat up. And that's crazy about the homeless cat companion too!
ReplyDeleteHe looked like he was just beat up.
DeleteYou have some crazy stuff going on in your neighborhood. Drug addiction can be really sad to watch.
ReplyDeleteYes, they can.
DeleteDang, you never seem to get a rest from the craziness.
ReplyDeleteNot recently.
DeleteWe live in a mixed up world, but it seems you have a front row seat.
ReplyDeleteYes, it sure seems like a lot happens over here.
DeleteThat last photo is heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteLots of craziness happening in your neck of the woods!
Always crazy over here.
DeleteI hope the guy who got taken to hospital will be ok.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I hope so too.
DeleteAt least the police is keeping an eye out. Still...
ReplyDeleteYes, they seem to be here all the time.
DeleteOh, Mary, I don't come by often, but it sounds like just another day out there in la la land, no? Now I'm off to give your Korn vid a listen/watch as I'm somewhat of a closet lover of such. Be well!
ReplyDeleteYeah, pretty much same ole same ole.
DeleteShe certainly isn't very good at hiding!
ReplyDeleteNot good at all.
DeleteSad to read about the crack woman. Summer is coming and the neighborhood will be amped up with more crazy situations. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteOf that I have no doubt.
DeleteLike Bijoux, I'm surprised she tried to hide it. I mean, aren't we giving crackheads a safe space to use these days? Or is that just in San Francisco?
ReplyDeleteThat must just be in San Francisco because it's the first I've heard of it.
DeleteOh my! I forget, where are you? Nothing like this happens near me - There are lots of "older" folks in my neighborhood, so when we see a truck or police, we assume someone is hurt/ill.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Las Vegas.
DeleteCrack is the worst. I remember seeing Firefly on it. It was terrible.
ReplyDeleteIt really is.
DeleteCRazy times as always
ReplyDeleteThat's awful. 😐
ReplyDeleteit is.
