Apartment Life #352

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 25 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.

My daughter took these pictures as she was walking down the street one night and said they police had some guy out and was giving him a field sobriety test.

She didn't see anyone get arrested do maybe he passed the test was let go. I'm not sure but she say the guy lived in the apartments across the street.
----

I told you last week that a white dog was roaming around the neighborhood and attacking people and other animals. So my daughter's ex has been calling animal control every day to try and get them to do something about the dog. But the owner of the dog has been hiding and has not been at home or answering the door. The ex said he's seen the dog with several other people but he doesn't know where most of them live so he can't send animal control to their apartment. The ex went to the doctor and he is indeed going to have to have surgery on his hand for nerve/tendon damage. So if the owner keeps hiding the ex might not ever be able to sue him for damages.

Update: I just found out yesterday from someone that lives down there near the dog owner that the dog owner packed up his stuff in a truck in the middle of the night and took his dog with him when he left. At least the dog is out of the neighborhood but that means the ex probably won't be able to find out who he is to sue him for medical damages.

Someone with a gun has been seen in our alley twice so we are keeping an eye out for that.

The high this week was 67F/19C
The low this week was 29F/-1C
It was cold this week.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

    1. Hopefully the new owner doesn't let it out to run offleash in the new neighborhood.

  2. Hopefully the guy with the gun was just hunting for the dog.

  4. Hi, Mary!

I see that the temperature in Vegas is dipping down to the upper 20s now. Be thankful you don't live on top of Mount Washington in New Hampshire where they just recorded a record low wind chill ("feels like" temp) of 108 degrees below zero.

Seems like you always trade one problem for another at your complex. On the plus side, the owner of the mean dog slipped away in the night, removing that threat from the neighborhood, but now a guy with a gun has been spotted lurking in your alley. Moreover, your daughter's ex is left with a dog bitten, painfully damaged hand and needs to bear the cost of medical treatment. Did you ever hear the saying that life isn't fair?

I wish you and my buddy Falcor a safe and happy week ahead, dear friend Mary!

  5. WOW! That not only means the ex-boyfriend can get no justice but that a dangerous dog is now free to harm others in whatever area he now lives. Such an irresponsible dog owner probably never got his dogs shots. Will ex have to get tested and shots for rabies?

    1. I don't know about the rabies but hopefully he won't let the dog run around in the next neighborhood.

  7. That is awful for the ex and now you’ve got to worry about a gun owner. It’s been a bad start to 2023 for you guys.

  9. If the dog owner and his dog have left, that must be good news even if he's unlikely to be sued.

  11. That's terrible that the ex can't sue him. They ought to put down both the dog and the owner.

    1. That would be a good way of dealing with it.

  12. People need to keep control of their animals. Leash laws are there for a reason.

    1. Exactly. You wouldn't believe how many offleash dogs are around here,

  13. It's too bad animal control could never find that dog; I feel bad for your daughter's ex. And I hope that dog doesn't hurt anyone else; irresponsible dog owners are the worst.

  14. Cannot imagine living with constant gun presence in my block, and I survived a couple of wars and we are swamped with armed Asulym seekers from Syria and Avganistan who occasionally have blood battles in a forest near me.

  15. Well, that sucks for the ex, but happy that you're safe from a violent dog attack. Wow, seeing someone running around with a gun is unsettling! Stay safe, Mary!

  16. Yikes that's not good about the gun. sorry to hear too about the dog guy getting away- that animal really does need to be put down, sadly, for the safety of others. and your daughter's ex not being able to sue kinda sucks too.

  19. I'm sorry to hear the ex needs surgery. That's just so awful. If the owner did up and leave in the middle of the night, I hope he doesn't slink back in a few weeks. If so, he needs to be held accountable. Hopefully your walks will be a little less stressful.

  20. Eek.. guy with a gun doesn't sound good.

  23. I can't believe that the dog's owner managed to escape. The poor ex - now he has to pay for surgery, too.

  26. I hope the person with the gun is caught or moves on.

That's too bad the guy with the dog won't be held responsible. He's sure to land in trouble wherever he goes if he keeps letting his dog out like that.
