This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 25 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.
Here's a short video of what happened on Monday. This apartment has been vacant for 2 months after the people that lived there were evicted. This homeless guy that we call Trash Can Mike, took a pair of pliers and was able to get the security screen open. Then he tried to break into the inner door. We called the police and waited but they never showed up, which really doesn't surprise me. I'm not sure he got into the apartment but I'm sure he'll keep trying until he does. On Thursday I saw the maintenance guy and told him he should secure the door better. He went and locked it again but that was all.
On Thursday the drug addicts/homeless people set up camp right across the street from my bedroom window. So I set up my tablet in the window and got a couple of videos. This women who is sitting down will pull the blanket over her head when she starts hitting the meth/crack pipe like no one knows what she's doing. A lot of them do this to conceal what they're doing but we all know what's going on. There were a bunch of the drug addicts across the street that day.
By the end of the day most of the drug addicts had left but this woman started screaming at another woman who likes to walk up and down the side walk yelling for no reason. That's my dog barking because he heard them yelling.
I guess it's a week of videos this week.
I know you can't see it too well because of the car and the car that they have most of their stuff behind but there are actually 6 people over there as well as 2 grocery carts full of stuff. There were a lot of other drug addicts from around the neighborhood that came over there to sit and do drugs that day. Some of them didn't even try to hide what they were doing.
The high this week was 99F/37C
The low this week was 67F/19C

DeleteThat the police won't or can't come do something when you call boggles my mind. Our cops would be here in minutes.

DeleteTrash can mike, what a nickname. I know in minneapolis that the police filter which calls they will show up to. It's getting hard out there.

DeleteThose flags seem to be working, because Trash Can Mike (great name btw) looks to be desperate to get an apartment there.

DeleteTrash Can Mike looks fairly persistent. And I had to laugh at that woman "concealing" her activity. Nice to have that right across your street.
ReplyDeleteIt was in the 90's here this week, but it didn't get that high.
She really thinks that she is hiding what she's doing.

DeleteIt's like it was drug addict week last week at your complex. I'm just sorry so many seem to be hanging out near your apartment.
ReplyDeleteHopefully once drug dealer is finally gone most of them will be gone too.
DeleteThey spend so much time trying to get around the law and breaking it! Would be nice if they made that much effort into being a productive member of society. Sorry this is happening right outside of your apartment, Mary!

DeleteThe government is always talking about job creation. They should be training people to go out and sweep areas where the homeless congregate and shuttle them to the shelters and when they show up again just keep taking them back until the homeless get tired of it and either stay at the shelter, agree to go to rehab, or leave the city. Every time we call the police in our neighborhood about people disturbing the peace, speeding around the neighborhood, or fireworks we get told all the officers are out on "important" calls. I wrote a letter to the mayor saying they need a neighborhood task force that only handles complaints. 😐

ReplyDeleteAddiction at it's lowest. It's so sad. It's sad too that the police didn't even bother responding, but I suppose it's not a surprise given how often they are out there.
