This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 25 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.
The police stopped across the street and were talking to each other for a minute before they both got out and went to the apartment complex across the street. They weren't there for very long and it didn't look like anyone was arrested so that's good.

This is a makeshift shelter made of wood, cardboard, blankets and a plastic tarp. I usually see them on the sidewalks around here when the homeless make their shelters at night but this one was right out in the middle of the street in a corner/turn. Everytime a car came around that corner I expected the shelter to get hit and there were several close calls. The police saw it so many times but didn't even stop to tell them to move it to the sidewalk. it wasn't until a week later when a Marshall stopped and told them to get it out of the street was it moved to the sidewalk.

On Wednesday my daughter and I heard screaming coming from an apartment 2 doors down. Thier next door neighbor started pounding on her door and window yelling to see if she was alright then she said she was calling the cops. We almost called the police too but then we saw the woman's boyfriend leave the apartment, get in his car and leave. This isn't the first time this has happened and she keeps letting him come back. She lives there with her brother but he was at work. The brother wants to kick this guys a$$ so bad.
The high this week was 61F/15C
The low this week was 49F/9C

There is always something happening near you. I am so glad that the shelter wasn't hit by a car, and amazed it took the police so long to get it moved.

DeleteThose people must have been high on something when they put up their shelter in a dangerous place like that. Weird that they didn't relocate it when they sobered up, though.

DeleteThat is just pathetic the cops didn't even stop to tell the guy to get off the street. That is illegal!

DeleteIt seems police everywhere has deteriorated. Cops just don't care anymore, unless there's murder involved.

DeleteQuite typical for a week in your corner of the woods...I wonder why the homeless people put their shelter in the middle of the road (and why it took so long for the authorities to make them move).

DeleteMaybe the guy building his makeshift home in such a dangerous location was hoping to get hit and paid ... if he survived. I, who fled from my abusive ex, with only the clothes on my back and twin six-month-olds in my arms, find it difficult to have sympathy for women who stay in relationships with abusive guys, keep letting them into the apartment to beat them up.

DeleteWOW! That's crazy that the shelter stayed there a week. Glad no one was hurt. It's nice that as crazy as your area can be, that there are some people still looking out for one another. I hope you have a good week!

DeleteNot sure why the police wouldn't tell the people to move the tent out of the street. Sounds like a toxic relationship. Hope she doesn't end up dead!
