Apartment Life #339

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 25 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 25 years here in a weekly blog post.

Another rooftop AC was installed onto the roof of the apartment complex across the street. That's the second one this year. I'm pretty sure it's pretty expensive to have these things installed too.

I always watch just to make sure that something doesn't go wrong and those heavy AC's don't come crashing down on a car on the street.

It went well. They had the old AC out and the new one in really fast, less than 20 minutes.

---

A few days later the apartment building a couple of buildings down the street also had a rooftop AC replaced.

---

Of course we can't go one week without the police showing up. At first it was just this one police car.

The another showed up and they went into the apartments across the street.

They stayed about 30 minutes, came out, talked and left. No one was arrested so I guess that's good.

The high this week was 100F/37C
The low this week was 66F/18C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. Your lowest temperature was our maximum on several days. We (for a change) had a police presence this week. A near neighbour had a psychotic episode. I haven't seen him since and hope he is getting the help he needs.

  2. 2nd A/C in a year?? Either the hot sun is burning them out or they're installing cheap rebuilds.

    1. Exactly what I was thinking.

    2. I should have explained better. There are 4 large AC's on top of each building. 1 AC supplies the AC for 2 apartments. So 2 different AC's were replaced on that building this year.

  3. Those units have to be at least five figures.
You're still hitting a hundred? Wow. We've been in the seventies - finally - but it's actually been a mild summer.

    1. That's what I was thinking too. Yeah it's still been really warm here.

  4. The people who work that crane must be quite skilled!

  5. We don't have central ACs here, just the individual ones, and no window ones either. It saves more energy if you choose to cool or heat just certain rooms not da whole palace.

    1. Oh definitely. I have one in the living room and a window AC in my bedroom.

  6. AC is an absolute necessity where you live. Your low temperature this week will be our high temperature today, which we consider to be a lovely, warm autumn day.

  9. That's an amazing job to take out those AC. That has to be pretty spendy.

  10. A year or so ago, I saw a helicopter lower a huge unit to the rooftop of a shopping mall near me. It really is fascinating to watch. It took a lot more than 30 minutes, too. I didn't stay for the whole thing. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. Oh I bet that was neat. They are probably bigger than these too.

  11. It can get pretty hot in England in the summer but there are still very few buildings with air conditioning. Even the London tube lines still don't have air conditioning.

    1. There should be AC where it gets hot like that.

  12. That's impressive how quick they got that AC in. Yes, a good result if no one gets arrested. :)

  13. This is the first time in awhile that I haven't jesus christed at one of your apartment life posts. :-D

When they built the sprawlmart down the road from me, they had helicopters bring in all the roof units. Noisy but efficient.

  17. Can't have a broken a/c where you are. Expensive, but necessary.

  18. Crazy how they replace those A/C units! Looks like you're still having hot weather where you're at so it's a good thing they're replacing them.

  19. Looks an interesting thing to be doing, landing the A/C in the correct space. Does each apartment have one of those?
The police, if no one was arrested did they leave sad news! I just wonder.

    1. Each one of those big AC's serves two apartments. There's 8 apartments in each building.
