Book Review: Chosen By The Alien Warrior by Skyla Stone
Book Description
He’s a celibate Ixionian warrior. I’m a temporary tribute “companion.” But finding love in the stars? I don’t think so.
When I signed up for the Ixonian tribute program, it was for one reason and one reason only—financial need…and maybe a little bit of an exploration bug. It definitely wasn’t to find love, and after all, that’s what we were promised. No love. No emotional attachments. Just celibate alien soldiers in need of temporary companionship—and we don’t even have to provide that, if we don’t want to. Just some conversation and company.
My alien soldier, Cassian, is everything I could have asked for—kind, accommodating, and respectful—even if he does have scales and horns. But he’s also gorgeous, and as the days pass and we get to know one another better, I start to wonder if my own self-imposed celibacy is the right choice.
It could be fun, right? I came to Ixion for a new experience, after all. A fling with a handsome alien soldier certainly falls in that category.
It definitely can’t lead to love—or to a revolution.
My Review
The Ixion soldiers get approved to find temporary companions in some human females who have signed up for the tribute temporary companion program. These soldiers have been celibate but are thinking that the women arriving are there willing to have sex with them after they get to know each other. The women on the other hand are told that they only have to spend time with the soldiers and talk or more if they want too and they are going to be paid for their time.
I felt bad for Cassian right away because the human female, Ivy he picked, was cold, uncaring and gave Cassian a hard time for the longest time. It was only when she was told of a problem by some of the other people there that she sort of warmed up to Cassian. She was there for the money and had no intention of being with him but even so she wasn't even nice to him for the longest time which made me sad for him because he was the nicest guy. He didn't understand her at all or why she was acting so cold towards him. They shared the same room, the same bed for days before she even warmed up to him and started talking to him. I didn't like how she treated him at all or how she acted to him when he had done nothing at all to deserve it.
But then some of the humans and aliens alike start working in secret for what they thought was a conspiracy or problems and they were all working together which brought Cassian and Ivy closer together and they actually started to get along better. This series follows the rebellion and problems they find throughout the series so that is not resolved in this first book but I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger since it gets resolved throughout the series.
I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

She doesn't sound at all nice. And does sound a tad selfish.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't care for her.
DeleteIt's hard to have any sympathy for unpleasant characters.
ReplyDeleteYes it is.
DeleteNot bad
ReplyDeleteYeah just ok.
DeleteIvy sounds selfish.
ReplyDeleteI didn't care for her.
DeleteToo bad. It's an interesting premise, but when a character is unlikeable, it does take away from the story.
ReplyDeleteThe premise was great and this could have been so much better.
DeleteI don't think I'd like Ivy!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you. I didn't either.
DeleteHard to fall for the romance if she's not nice for so long.
ReplyDeleteYeah it is.
DeleteIvy is not a nice character.
ReplyDeleteNo she isn't which was disappointing.
DeleteSounds like a fair rating for a nasty dude!
ReplyDeleteHe was great but she was awful.
DeleteIt's hard to enjoy a book if you don't like one of the MCs and Ivy doesn't seem like a very likable one.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
DeleteHe can choose me anyday, I am free and available and interested.
ReplyDeleteHa! Get in line. I saw him first. When are these sexy aliens going to come visit us Earthlings?
