Saturday Vittles
My Daughter and I are trying to eat more healthy so I thought I would share some pictures on Saturday's of what we've made. Most pictures are from my daughter since she takes good food pics. lol
I am experimenting with things I've never tried before, like tofu!
Crispy Air-Fried Tofu
You will need:
A pack of Tofu- I used 1/3 of the square.
2 TBSP Hot Sauce
1 TBSP Sweet Chili Sauce
1 tsp. Corn Starch
1 tsp. Soy Sauce
I used Firm tofu and you have to press it to get the water out of it. I used a large water filled pan to sit on top of the tofu to squeeze the water out of it. I wrapped the tofu into a large dish cloth, placed it in a pan and put the pot of water on top of it for 30 minutes. A lot of water came out of it.
Then I cut about 1/3 of the square into cubes, tossed it into the sauces and then tossed it in the corn starch. Placed the cubes into my air fryer in a single layer, leaving space between each piece. Air fried this for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
Not gonna lie, this was not my favorite new thing I've tried. It was still quite spongy in the middle.
But I cut a few pieces in half and added it to my mixed greens salad. And topped it with some cucumber ranch dressing. It was pretty good in the salad. Not sure I will be getting tofu again but it was fun to try something new.
This salad has 170 calories and 10 carbs.

Tofu just doesn't sound good to me, and since you gave it a thumbs down...I'll probably pass on it. Hope you enjoyed your time with your brother.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like it.
DeleteI’ve never made it, but have bought it at the store already prepared like yours. It was just okay.
ReplyDeleteYeah just ok for me too.
DeleteThat I would eat! We use tofu for a lot of different dishes. Makes a great eggless scrambled eggs.
ReplyDeleteI didn't care for it.
DeleteI think tofu is an acquired taste. I eat it almost every day and think it's tasty.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it is an acquired taste too.
DeleteCan't say tofu is my fave either.
ReplyDeleteAt least I tried it.
DeleteI'm not a great fan of tofu, either.
ReplyDeleteIt's just not my thing.
DeleteI've never tried tofu, but I'm not sure I'd be a fan of it either.
ReplyDeleteIt's not for me.
DeleteYummy
ReplyDeleteIt was ok, but I doubt I'll get it again.
DeleteI love tofu in the air fryer.
ReplyDeleteIt was just ok for me.
DeleteI haven't had tofu in ages. It's tricky to make it taste good! Good for you for trying it.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI adore tofu, I usually bread it and fry it as schnitzel. But unlike yours, we have tofu with different flavours, smoked etc.
ReplyDeleteIf it had more flavor it might have been better. The texture was a real issue for me too.
DeleteWe love it especially smoked. We put it in salads and sauces.
ReplyDeleteIt's not for me.
DeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
You're welcome.
DeleteI always take a pass on the tofu LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell I can say I've tried it.
DeleteI wonder if it would've worked better if you cut it up in smaller pieces. I've only had tofu a couple of times. I don't remember it well, though.
ReplyDeleteMaybe.
DeleteI wish I knew more on what to do with tofu.
ReplyDeleteThere are quite a few recipes out there.
DeleteI've never had tofu that I'm aware of, Mary.
ReplyDeleteWell, now I can say Ive tried it.
DeleteI've never quite figured out tofu. I never know what to do with it, and the meals don't really come out. I'm sure there's a good recipe using it, but it sounds like this one is not it.
