Apartment Life #366

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 26 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 26 years here in a weekly blog post.
---

My daughter works in a large store that sells farming equipment and supplies as well as firearms. Jonathan (The guy who was firing his BB gun in my courtyard a few weeks ago.) bought his BB gun at the store my daughter works at. A while back she found out from the guy who works at the gun counter that Jonathan has been coming in to the store at least once a week trying to buy a gun. A real gun not a BB gun. But his background check was denied and his application was flagged by the store because he kept asking for help filling out the background check application to buy a gun a while back and I don't know if it's a store policy or federal regulation you cannot ask for any help, look on your phone or have anyone there with you helping you fill out the paperwork. It will get your paperwork flagged and/or denied.

Well I guess not only did the guy working the gun counter tell my daughter that he flagged his application because Jonathan kept asking for help filling out the paperwork but when his application came back it was flat out denied. They don't tell the store the reason only that he is not eligible to buy a gun. But Jonathan keeps coming back into the store every week trying to buy a gun. And they keep telling him the background check came back and he cannot buy a gun.

So at least there's that. I am happy to know that at least we don't have to worry about him having an actual gun unless he buys one illegally off of someone idiot around here. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
-----

My daughter's friend and her girlfriend got the apartment in my courtyard and they moved in this week. Yay. At least there's one more normal neighbor in my courtyard now.

The high this week was 87F/30C
The low this week was 52F/11C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. I hope that Jonathon continues trying to buy his gun legally.
    Hooray for quiet weeks.

    1. Yeah at least he can't get one legally.

  2. That is great that legally he cannot buy a gun. You can only pray that he doesn't find someone on the street that will sell him one. He sounds like he's just a little bit crazy.

    1. I'm hoping no one around here is dumb enough to sell this idiot a gun.

  3. The system is working! Sadly though, one day he will realize he can buy one illegally. I watch On Patrol Live, and nine times out of ten when they find a gun in the car, it's not legal.

    1. Yeah, hopefully he won't get one anytime soon.

  4. I hope Jonathan never manages to get his hands on a real gun. He doesn't sound entirely rational.

  5. This sounds like dangerously irrational behavior. Repeated attempts to buy a gun when he knows he can't legally do so might violate some state or local statute. If he keeps being a nuisance, maybe the store can contact the police and ask them to give him some kind of warning.

    1. I would think that would be a good idea.

  6. Someone like Jonathan should never progress beyond a BB gun!

  7. Makes you grateful for background checks! Because he definitely should not have a real gun. That would be scary.

  8. A scary tale about someone who obviously doesn't have enough wits about him to own any sort of firearm. I hope he keeps getting denied. You don't need guns in your neighbourhood.

    1. I'm sure there are enough guhs around here already. Nevada is an open carry state so I see a lot of people with guns on their belts.

  9. Hi, Mary!

Since I am absent for many of your posts due to my reduced blogging schedule, I am not familiar with the name Jonathan. I searched your blog just now and believe him to be one of your sketchy neighbors. Whatever the case, he seems desperate to buy a gun. It could be that he wants it for protection, but it might be for another reason. Having an unbalanced neighbor with a gun? What could possibly go wrong? I wish you and your family well as you continue to monitor the situation.

I am returning tomorrow with a new post at Shady's Place and invite you and my buddy Falcor to join the fun. Enjoy your Sunday, dear friend Mary!

    1. Yes, Jonathon lives right across from me and he had the police called on him last month when he was shooting a BB gun off in my courtyard.

  11. Jonathan is planning something bad. Good that the store notified your daughter, but they should also alert the police department to an impending threat. If the cops ignore it, Jonathan is not put on alert that they're watching him, then it's on them if Jonathan gets his hands on a street weapon and goes ballistic in the neighborhood. Stay safe.

  24. OH wow... I hope he doesn't try to get a gun illegally. That's scary since he's not moving now.

I was gone from Thursday - Monday to my sister's in Philly. It's about a 6 hour car ride. Her family is downsizing to a home about 10 minutes from the current one. I helped pack up and move stuff for three days. Now I'm home and exhausted, not to mention... they had a ton of pollen so my allergies are horrible.
