Favorite Picture of the Week
For a few days this week we had mostly 90F/32C instead of the higher temps I was expecting. I think it was mostly because of all the clouds we had this week. Monday we didn't have rain but the clouds were nice.
I like seeing the big white puffy clouds against the bright blue sky.
So many clouds. No rain though.
While we didn't get any rain on Tuesday, it was nice to see.
This was a huge dark cloud Wednesday evening.
The light hitting this made it look so ethereal.
And then Thursday the darker clouds moved in.
A little later on Thursday I saw darker clouds moving my way and saw some rain coming down out of them off in the distance. Right here by the dumpster/fence is where we had the small fire I talked about of Sunday.
Around 2:30PM on Thursday this huge black cloud slowly came over my area and I figured we would get some rain out of it so I took Falcor out before it rained. This is behind my apartment complex and I walked out front to take another picture of the other side of the cloud because it was so big.
This is the cloud from the street side of my complex.
And it did indeed rain for about 20 minutes. At least it was a bit cooler for a few days.

Those last few clouds sure were dark. If you hadn't gotten any rain, I think they would count as false advertising.
ReplyDeleteGlad you did get a bit of a cool-down. 90°F sounds pretty nightmarish to me.
Right? That big dark one that did give some rain finally, I just knew we would get at least a little out of that, Would have been weird if we hadn't. I even heard thunder from that one. 90F is hot but yesterday it was 108F. That was terrible.
DeleteRain!
ReplyDeleteThe first one is very foreboding.
I know, I really was expecting more rain or at least some lightning from that first one.
DeleteLove those clouds. Your weather is toooo hot for me.
ReplyDeleteI can understand that. It's very hot int he Summer time.
DeleteEnough rain to show you had wet pavement. What beautiful sky pictures. The one with the incredible blue was magnificent. I received my glittery envelope yesterday and I cannot thank you enough.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm so glad to hear that. I'm glad it got to you so fast.
DeleteYou'd expect more than 20 minutes of rain from that big black cloud.
ReplyDeleteI know!
DeleteGlad you got some rain!
ReplyDeleteSo was I.
DeleteThose skies are an ever-changing panorama!
ReplyDeleteYes they are.
DeleteMy heart wept for you when you said 90 was lower than expected. Stay cool, Mary!
ReplyDelete105 was expected. It was 108F yesterday.
DeleteIt's always a blessing to receive a little rain, but some of those clouds look ominous
ReplyDeleteYes they did. Too bad we didn't get a really good thunderstorm out of them.
DeleteFor the most part we have had blank skies recently. Whatever light clouds there might be are likely obscured by smoke.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching the news about the smoke that's happening from the fires. So sad.
DeleteYay for rain and some slightly cooler temps. :D
ReplyDeleteIt was nice while it lasted.
Delete90 degrees, ooph. you have very moody clouds over there, we do not get them like that here. yay for some rain!
ReplyDeleteIt's hot here in the Summer time. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the clouds.
DeleteWhite puffy clouds are my favorites. When I was young I liked to lay on the ground and make up shapes out of them.
ReplyDeleteI remember doing that too.
DeleteGood photos
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI love those incoming clouds
ReplyDeleteThank you. I liked that we had any cloud cover at all for a while.
DeleteNice that you got a bit of rain. At least you got Falcor out before it.
ReplyDeleteI try not to take him when it's raining because he doesn't like getting his wittle paws wet. lol
DeleteAmazing clouds! It's fun to see the rain out in the distance. We've had rain in our backyard but our front yard was high n' dry. That was fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet it was.
DeleteLovely sky photos ~
ReplyDeletewe have had lots of rain ~ some sun today at last ~

Thanks. Good to hear you have some sun now.
DeleteWhat a beautiful week of sky-watching! I love how you captured the shifting moods of the clouds fluffy and bright to dark and dramatic.
ReplyDeleteNature’s canvas is always changing, and your photos tell that story so well.
The huge cloud over your apartment was especially striking! I’m glad the rain brought some relief from the heat, too.
Thank you, I really appreciate that. The dark cloud was very ominous.
DeleteYou get the best fluffy white clouds against azure blue sky there. Yay, the dark cloud brought some refreshing rain!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWe had rain ☔ two days ago when I needed to cut grass ðŸ˜

I welcome some rain.
DeleteI'm sure the rain was a welcome reprieve from the hot Vegas sun!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it sure was.
DeleteBeautiful sky, the clouds are amazing as always. Glad you got some rain.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteThe nature there when the rain falls must be like - What is this water coming down from the skies, I cannot seem to remember it from before. After extremely rainy spring and April we have not had any rain in a month probably and all the grass is scorched looking like dry straw and hay.
ReplyDeleteWe only get 5" of rain a year so it was nice while it lasted.
DeleteThat heat is difficult! Good you had rain.
ReplyDeleteIt really is.
DeleteSounds like a Florida rain. 20 minutes and done.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice while it lasted.
DeleteWhew! It really gets hot there.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, last year the high was 120F
DeleteFinally some rain! Love the dark clouds.
