Apartment Life #390
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
The apartment complexes across the street hired armed security to patrol their grounds during the day and at night. I took a picture of one of them as he was walking away to preserve his privacy. He's a really nice guy and always says hi to me. The homeless people are still sneaking around over there though. When security is at one end you can see them running through courtyards to get to the vacant houses through the fence in their alley. The security guards have been running the homeless people off though.
The police tactical vehicle truck has been patrolling a lot on my street lately. When I have my cameras up and I'm watching them, I see the police vehicle drive by a lot. Not that I'm complaining. But if they really want to catch people doing illegal stuff, they need to park and walk into the courtyards where people are laying around smoking their crack pipes and sleeping in the bushes.
---
On Sunday night the paramedics came for a man who was found unresponsive in his car. I talked to the guys brother the next day and he said he found his brother unresponsive in his car after he parked and now he's in the hospital and they said he had a heart attack.
---
Yesterday (Saturday) I watched this police vehicle pull up at my apartment complex and go into this courtyard. Another police car showed up a few moments later but he took off soon after, so I didn't think it was going to be a big deal and went home. A little while later I was watching my camera and saw this police truck drive by and then the Fire Department and an ambulance. But since I didn't know they were down there until they left, I have no idea what happened.
The high this week was 90F/32C
The low this week was 62F/16C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Jeez oh exciting times. I hope the guy is okay and recovers.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
Delete“Armed Security, Tactical Truck”... Good Lord! Sounds like you’re under siege over there. I wonder if last week’s fire was the turning point where things got serious and they brought in the troops. Have they caught Mikey yet?
ReplyDeleteI think the managers across the street were just so tired of running the homeless druggies off their property that they decided to hire help. No, Mikey is still running around loose.
DeleteSomething seems to be always going on at or near your complex. Not good to find a man who had a heart attack and not responsive in a car.
ReplyDeleteAt least his brother found him and got him help. Something is always going on around here.
DeleteWow, armed security is not cheap. The druggies and other pests must be causing some pretty bad problems over there if the management at that complex would resort to such a measure. I hope they don't all migrate over to your side.
ReplyDeleteThe druggies are always across the street. Someone over there is constantly firing off their gun at night too. They come over there all the time anyway. But they go through the alley and courtyards across the street to access the vacant homes they are squatting in.
DeleteHe certainly have plenty of official visits with official Vehicles don't you. I wonder if a lot of the heart attacks are simply caused by too many drugs. We have had two mornings with light frost already. And our daily Highs are more like 60° but sunny.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are a lot of official visits with the vehicles around here. The guy who had a heart attack is in bad health and not one of the druggies around here. He's an older guy who I think just had surgery on his foot after diabetes complications.
DeleteYour area needs one of those cops. Two roaming around would make a difference.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we really do.
DeleteYeah, driving around isn’t going to catch anyone!
ReplyDeleteNope, they're all hiding in the vacant homes.
DeleteSo much going on and so many unanswered questions. You're right about the police, though.
ReplyDeleteIf they stopped and walked around a little bit, they might see soemthing.
DeleteI look forward to this theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad my reporting is entertaining. All I can do is watch and take pictures.
DeleteLots of action this week
ReplyDeleteYeah there was.
DeleteWe have a LOT of homeless in my town. They can do pretty much what ever they want here. The police only come when there is some sort of crime going on. It is horrible. Driving around is supposed to be a deterrent. Uhhh I don't think that works. LOL
ReplyDeleteSeems that way here too. They seem to get away with whatever.
DeleteIt sounds like armed security isn't much of a deterrent for the druggies and squatters...all that money for nothing.
ReplyDeleteThey are making they stay out of that apartment complex when they see them so there's that I guess.
DeleteI hope the additional security and police presence helps a little. Though all that homelessness and drug addiction is a hard problem to solve.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. They need to move out of this neighborhood.
DeleteI'm sad for the homeless people. It's hard for them. And they keep getting chased out of places, so they have nowhere to go.
ReplyDeleteBut, on the other hand, they're not good neighbors. They make a mess. They destroy things. So, of course you need to keep them out of places.
With the security guys, I think it's more about being a deterrent. If they wanted to catch them, there are things they could do. But just patrolling? Yeah, I think they're just trying to discourage them from settling there.
I feel bad for some of them. I see too many of them stealing, doing drugs, breaking into cars ect. They need to move somewhere else. The city needs to crack down on this and make them stay at the shelters or go to jail. There is a 900 bed homeless shelter being built right down the street, I hope some of them move on to that place.
DeleteArmed security is probably good and is likely cheaper that all the repair expense from the damage the homeless folks do.
ReplyDeleteProbably.
DeleteThere are many homeless people here in Montreal. Sad. Thank you so much for sharing, Mary.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
Deletesad about the heart attack man I hope he is okay and recovers.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteThings must be getting pretty out of hand if there's a need for 24/7 armed security.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely not good.
DeleteIt is still so hot over there! We are going as low as 5C at night and I have to wear my imperial collection of padded vests and Jedi capes when I am going out during the day.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's still hot here. Should cool down more in the next couple of weeks.,
DeleteI guess the police really don't want to get involve because if they did, the homeless would not sell their drugs. They should lock them up but the jail is probably full. What a dilemma with no solution.
ReplyDeleteThe jails are crowded for sure.
DeleteHopefully with more police and security you'll have less issues in your neighborhood. It's still pretty hot in your area!
ReplyDeleteIt's starting to cool down a bit more now. Hopefully things will settle down but I doubt it.
DeleteI wonder if the police are tasked with keeping the streets clear/clean and they "don't care" what happens on private property. So, you are right... it really doesn't do any good. I hope you and yours have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteBusiness as always there
ReplyDeletePretty much.
