Apartment Life #420
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
Life Update:
Once again, my daughter got a referral from her doctor's office to physical therapy this time and when she called them, they told her they don't take her insurance. The referral department are not doing their job. How hard is it to make sure they take her insurance? The marijuana edible drinks are helping my daughter with the pain she's having. Good thing too since she hasn't been able to see pain management yet. I'm not asking for too much, just do your damn job. She's still waiting to see if the weekly infusions will be given a pre-authorization or not.
My back is still painful. At least I'm not having the shooting nerve pain down the back of my leg anymore. I'm having to use one of my crutches to walk around.

I received an email that went out to all residents at my apartment complex. New rules for dogs.
Specifically," Dogs are not allowed to URINATE anywhere on the property, including the rocks by the sidewalk." That's never been in the lease before. I haven't signed a new lease yet so I have no idea if it's in the new one.
And there's still a $600 fine for letting guests brings their pets into your apartment. That is in the lease. These people are crazy.
If the manager doesn't like dogs, just make it a dog free apartment complex for all new residents.
General Property & Lease Rules
No animals are allowed on the premises or property — even temporarily — unless specifically authorized in writing by the Owner or Management.
This includes animals belonging to guests.
Approved pets are only those listed on your Lease Agreement.
Unapproved animals are considered a lease violation and may result in fines, lease penalties, or possible eviction.
Dogs must be taken completely off the property to urinate and defecate. Pets are not permitted to relieve themselves in any on-site areas, including rocked areas, landscaped sections, or turf.
Under Clark County Code § 10.36.020 – Solid Waste Excretion, it is unlawful for a pet owner to allow an animal to defecate on public property, common areas, or another person’s property unless the waste is promptly removed. The code specifically includes common areas of apartment complexes and multiple dwellings.

Ugh. The apartment I lived in before this place switched from a nice family owned building to a nasty management company. They took away my parking space because I was in a studio! Well, they really wanted to force tenants out (or annoy them out) so they could remodel and charge a lot more. It worked. Hope that’s not happening with you 🙁

DeleteI have to say I do agree with restrictions on dogs peeing on public areas. There's dog pee all over our local sidewalks and it looks unsightly apart from anything else. But a $600 fine for allowing a dog into your apartment? That's really ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteHow is someone supposed to walk the dog off the property without the dog peeing on the rocks because it's a good walk.
DeleteSo let me get this straight, you're supposed to pick up and carry or cage your dog and take it far away so that it can go potty! Maybe what needs to happen is to take away the bathroom in the office of the superintendent, and tell them when they have to go potty they're going to have to drive all the way home and hope they can hold it.

DeleteLOL, I agree with Alex above. And a fine for guests' pets? So...if you have a relative or friend visiting, they're supposed to leave their animal at home?
ReplyDeleteThe medical stuff sounds like a neverending nightmare. They take their sweet times giving you referrals, and then they aren't even the right ones.
Yeah, they aren't supposed to rbing their dog if they visit.
DeleteI agree these are extreme rules, nobody likes stinky dog pee or poop, just follow the rules, pick it up and dispose of it.

I think the new manager just doesn't like dogs and doesn't want them here.
DeleteMy insurance has a website that lists all the preferred physicians. Can you daughter show her doctor the list and have them refer to one of those offices?
ReplyDeleteShe called her insurance company and asked for the phone numbers for the places that take her insurance since the website wasn't working.
DeleteThat's so frustrating that your daughter got a referral somewhere that won't take her insurance. You'd think they could figure that out. And all that stuff about your pets...could they be more finicky? What a joke.

DeleteI hope the medical world gets their act together and things get worked out soon. Hey, you should gather up the dog poop and send it via UPS to the new owners corporate address. They are being shitheads so might as well replenish their supply.

DeleteI'd love to see how the rules about dogs relieving themselves will be applied - obviously drawn up by someone who doesn't have or doesn't like dogs.

Yes, they will fine you for that. But they haven't been enforcing the no dogs over 40lbs rule. There are huge dogs here and no one says a thing about that.

I wouldn’t want to talk peeing or pooping on my property either, but it appears that homeless people starting dumpster fires are totally fine, in management’s view. About your daughter our healthcare system is so so broken. It is just where you are either it’s everywhere. Not that is any consolation to you Or your daughter. Living with constant chronic pain is a terrible thing, especially when he can’t get any medical help for it

DeleteHooray for the marijuana, ya two should plant some in your window, god knows you need to start taking it as well for your numerous pains, dear. Maybe you can apply cannabis oil onto your back, maybe it helps that way as well, it is sold freely here.
