My Take On A Strawberry Shortcake

So I really like Strawberry shortcake but I didn't have those little round cakes to make them, but I did have a box of yellow cake mix. So here's what I did.

Follow the directions on the box of Yellow Cake Mix, bake, cool and cut into serving sizes.

Top cake portions with a thin layer of Hersheys Chocolate Spread.

Add a spoonful of diced Strawberries and top with whip cream.

Ken loved it and so did my daughter.

  4. Yum. I make Strawberry Shortcakes using the recipe on Bisquick box. I then add strawberries and vanilla ice cream. DH adds milk instead of ice cream, which I think is gross. I think need to make some now that you mention it. :-)

  5. I'm excited for our planned strawberry picking! I make a lazy/deconstructed version of this by getting pound cake at the grocery, cut it in cubes, put it in serving cups, pile lots of whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and a few chocolate shavings.

    Lazy!

  6. Works for me! I do usually have a cake mix or two on the shelf and I might not have thought of that. Clever, Mary! :)

  8. Looks delicious! And pretty easy to make as well! I have a cake recipe I think I could use for the bottom. Will have to give this a try once!
