Christmas Candy?

Hello, My name is Mary and I might be a candyholic. Do I have candy all over my apartment? Maybe. I don't eat as much as it as I used to but my grandson loves my obsession. I just like the way candy looks in bowls and jars. I like the bright colors and yes I like the taste of candy too. But I don't eat as much of it anymore.

I think I started doing this for Christmas because of my grandma. She always had bowls of different kinds of candy out all the time but especially around Christmas time.

Buttermints and an assortment of candies.

The Jelly Beans were replaced with gumballs because I like the scent of those more. LOL

A couple of glass jars with some Christmas candy.

Chocolate Truffles in one bowl and toffee in another.

Salt water taffy.

A few years ago I did this. I mixed a bowl with Skittles, Reeses Pieces and M&M's in the bowl. For those who haven't had these candies, they look the same but taste different. One is chocolate, one is peanut butter and one is fruity. Mixing them together was funny because anyone who takes a little handful is thinking it's all M&M's and it's not. LOL Surprise!

Do you like candy? Do you have a favorite Christmas candy? Do you put out candy bowls around Christmas time?

  3. When I was a kid, we always had the stained glass candy. It was flat squares of all different colors, lightly dusted with powdered sugar. I haven’t seen it in years, but it might have been a homemade item at Christmas.

  4. I don't buy or keep candy lying about in my home because it goes right down the hatch! I'm weak.

  5. I have a sweet tooth and love chocolate at Christmas and throughout the year. I just bought some chocolate covered pomegranate seeds that I am now thinking of having for breakfast, smile.

  7. The colours are pretty, but I wouldn't be tempted to eat them because I'm all for salty stuff LOL. I eat very little sugar, including Christmas sweets - though I like caffelatte, some fruit-flavoured yogurt/icecream varieties and dark chocolate.

  8. I'm Diabetic and don't have a Sweet Tooth, but I do keep Candy in Bowls for Guests and The Family. The Kiddos aren't big on Candy either, we like Savory and Salty Tasting stuff, but, The Man is a Candyholic, and since he's also a Diabetic he's on Ration. *Smiles* One time we got those Jelly Belly Beans that have gross flavors, just as a lark, they were awful, but, a good prank.

    1. I'm diabetic too and don't eat as much of it as I used to. But having it out in bowls like my grandma did, I hope that my grandson remembers that like I do about my own grandma.

  14. I loooooove candy!!!! Unfortunately, too many run-ins with ants put an end to me having any kind of food or candy sitting out, ever. All candy must be put away in a ziploc or jar, in the cabinet or fridge, immediately after opening. LOL

  15. Ribbon candy (the real thin kind) will always remind me of my father. I would buy a box each Christmas. My husband likes the old hard candy that is super colorful. Each year he wants candy canes. This year it was Smartie flavors.

    1. Oh I would feel it. I love sweets but I've lost 70 lbs in the past 6 months by cutting my sugar intake way down.

  19. O I love candy, but I said enough is enough about three or four months ago. The first two weeks were hard, but my belly is pretty much gone now.
