Favorite Picture of the Week
This was at 3PM, in the middle of the day, that cloud was so big and so dark. I mistakenly took this picture with my flash still on.
This is the same cloud as above, but I turned my flash off. This is what it looked like to me as I saw it. This storm blew past and we didn't even get any rain from it.
Lots of cloud cover.
That night the sunset was so pretty though. I couldn't get the entire sunset in my picture but the picture below is the other side of this sunset.
Another fiery sunset.

The first with the flash is surreal. It looks like nighttime.
ReplyDeleteI know, it was different from what I was seeing.
DeleteThese are wonderful skies Mary :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Deleteyou always capture pretty photos of the weather!!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteBeautiful pictures that have a feeling that cloud is the one that came here and ended up actually giving us 20 in of snow. I saw your comment where you thought you might not come to ohio, lol. By the way this morning it is 9° below zero!
ReplyDeleteThat's too much snow for me.
DeleteFierce sky there and beautiful sunset, Mary.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA flash wouldn’t change the picture of the sun in itself, but it might have signalled the camera to change how it recorded the light temperature.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm not all that tech savvy when it comes to the camera settings.
DeleteBeautiful sunset!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGorgeous sunset after such ominous dark clouds. No rain, though (bummer)!
ReplyDeleteFalcor was happy there was no rain. He doesn't like getting his paws wet.
DeleteThat's a serious cloud to not give off any rain.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought too.
DeleteBeautiful clouds! It's snowing. Again...
ReplyDeleteYou get so much snow.
DeleteThat cloud *didn't* drop any rain on you? Wow. It looked very ominous.
ReplyDeleteI think it produced rain a little while later over other parts of my city, but not here.
DeleteIt’s actually really cool to see the side-by-side of how the flash changed the shot; it gives the first one such an eerie, cinematic vibe.
ReplyDeleteThat sunset, though, was the perfect reward for the "storm" that wasn't. I just shared a new post that has some pretty great views too, I'd love for you to check it out!

Thank you.
DeleteYou get some really dark clouds!
ReplyDeleteWe do. It's fun to see if they will give any rain.
DeleteThat first shot with the flash actually creates such a spooky, surreal effect, but the "fiery" sunset at the end is definitely the winner for me. There’s nothing like a dramatic storm blowing over just to clear the way for those incredible colors.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that.
DeleteYou are so skilled at getting good photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGorgeous captures, Mary.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI love the blue tint to the first picture - striking! And the fiery sunset, of course.
ReplyDeleteThe sunsets have been so nice.
DeleteI like that first one
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWow some really wonderful photos. Hope your daughter is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteShe is, thank you.
Deleteominous skies
ReplyDeleteIt did look that way.
DeleteI agree, that sure looks like it should have rained! Terrific photos!
ReplyDeleteI was really surprised when it didn't.
DeleteReally great sunset. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA great series of sky photos. My favourite is the first one with the dark sky and the building with the trees. The street looks deserted of people which highlights the mood of the photo. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I appreciate that.
DeleteDesert seems to produce most clouds.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year there are a lot of clouds.
DeleteSomething was definitely brewing with those clouds
ReplyDeleteSure looked that way.
DeleteThose first two captures are so different. The first one is really spooky looking and overall the clouds in that series looks so threatening. Alana https://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWow Mary, these shots are incredible! 😍
ReplyDeleteYou really have an eye for the sky!
