Favorite Picture of the Week

This was at 3PM, in the middle of the day, that cloud was so big and so dark. I mistakenly took this picture with my flash still on.

This is the same cloud as above, but I turned my flash off. This is what it looked like to me as I saw it. This storm blew past and we didn't even get any rain from it.

Lots of cloud cover.

That night the sunset was so pretty though. I couldn't get the entire sunset in my picture but the picture below is the other side of this sunset.

Another fiery sunset.

  1. The first with the flash is surreal. It looks like nighttime.

  4. Beautiful pictures that have a feeling that cloud is the one that came here and ended up actually giving us 20 in of snow. I saw your comment where you thought you might not come to ohio, lol. By the way this morning it is 9° below zero!

  5. Fierce sky there and beautiful sunset, Mary.

  6. A flash wouldn’t change the picture of the sun in itself, but it might have signalled the camera to change how it recorded the light temperature.

    1. Thank you. I'm not all that tech savvy when it comes to the camera settings.

  7. Gorgeous sunset after such ominous dark clouds. No rain, though (bummer)!

    1. Falcor was happy there was no rain. He doesn't like getting his paws wet.

  10. That cloud *didn't* drop any rain on you? Wow. It looked very ominous.

    1. I think it produced rain a little while later over other parts of my city, but not here.

  11. It’s actually really cool to see the side-by-side of how the flash changed the shot; it gives the first one such an eerie, cinematic vibe.

That sunset, though, was the perfect reward for the "storm" that wasn't. I just shared a new post that has some pretty great views too, I'd love for you to check it out!

  13. That first shot with the flash actually creates such a spooky, surreal effect, but the "fiery" sunset at the end is definitely the winner for me. There’s nothing like a dramatic storm blowing over just to clear the way for those incredible colors.

  20. A great series of sky photos. My favourite is the first one with the dark sky and the building with the trees. The street looks deserted of people which highlights the mood of the photo. Love it!

  23. Those first two captures are so different. The first one is really spooky looking and overall the clouds in that series looks so threatening. Alana https://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
