Rat Busters NYC

If you have been reading my blog you already know that I signed a petition to have Rat Busters NYC removed from Animal Planet. I also sent Animal Planet an email and let them know about the petition and how a bunch of us were boycotting Animal Planet until this show is removed. Here is the email I received the other day in response to the email I sent them about the show. ...

Dear Spammers

I have several email addresses because I use each one for something different. The first one I ever got, I still have. That was a long time ago and I get so damn much spam on that email address it's not even funny. My hubby and I used to use this one together because we didn't know way back when that we could both get a different one. Crazy...I know.

So each day i go to my email inbox and flush the spam...but have you ever really looked at what they are sending you? No? Well, I did and it scared me...the world is a scary place now a days. There are people that want me to have a penis enlargement, a home mortgage, lip implants, breast implants, facial reconstruction and then they also want me to sue for having the penis enlargement if something went wrong, sue the breast implant doctor for making them too big and then this Prince somewhere in the middle east tells me I've got an inheritance of 10 million dollars if only I would contact him and deposit this check into my account and send him a small portion of it.

Now thankfully I am not an idiot and I have never had a penis so there's no need for an enlargement and I've never had anything injected, implanted or otherwise transformed in my body so there's no need to sue anyone over it. And I am seriously not sending some idiot my name rank and serial number so he can take my identity and never send me the millions he said was coming to me.

But that's me, there are enough gullible people out there that are doing these things that keep these scammers in business and make it worth their time to keep sending out the spam. I wish there was a way to get rid of the spammers.

Happy Birthday, Mom

Peggy Kirkland
Born Sept 2nd, 1947
Died June 24th, 2011

My mom would have been 64 years old today. I grew up in Redondo Beach, California and when I was 17 my Mom brought my brother and I to West Virginia for a year back in 1987 and we stayed there for a year and then she came out here to Las Vegas followed by my brother Billy and then a few months later I followed. We have been here ever since and the one thing my mom really missed about California was the ocean.

So last year when my younger brother, Billy was getting married to his wife Lynnece, they brought my mom out to California and took her to the Redondo Beach Pier where we all used to go as kids with her and the family. She was so happy to see the ocean again. There's something about the ocean that just made her smile. So I am so glad she was able to visit and see the ocean before she died.

Rat Busters NYC

I just heard about a new show that's going to be on Animal Planet, called Rat Busters NYC. Being a rat and animal lover, I am completely appalled by Animal Planet having a show like this where the rats are going to be killed and not even in a humane way.

What were they thinking?
Obviously they were not. It seems money talks though and they must think they can make some money from a show like this one or they wouldn't have it on a channel that is about animals. What does this say to the people who watch Animal Planet?

It says, Animal Planet doesn't really care about animals, they only care about their profit margins. What were they thinking adding to the ever growing animal control shows on an animal related channel like this. I realize that most people consider wild rats in places like NYC to be pests that need to be exterminated, but they are live animals who have as much right to life as anyone else.

I don't know about you but I am going to be contacting Animal Planet and telling them that as long as they have shows like this on, I will be boycotting their channel and telling everyone I know to do the same.

Confession Time...

I thought it would be fun to set up a facebook account for my husband. I was wrong...

His account has been set up for about 3 weeks and he's made maybe 3 comments so far.

He didn't like the picture I put on his profile so he took it down and now there's no picture. lol

So last night he says, "You wanna teach me how to navigate this fb thing?"

So I come over to the computer and he's all logged in and says, Ok, now what?"

So I get him over to the 'newsfeed' and this is our conversation....

Him: So now what do I do?
Me: You comment on your friends status messages.

Him: Ok, and then what?
Me: Look at their pictures, write a status of your own, click on your friends links, fill out your profile, select a profile picture for yourself.

Him: This sucks. this isn't fun. This is boring.
Me: Just read your friends status's and make some comments.

Him: Why do you write so many statuses? Your on my newsfeed more than anyone else.
Me: That's because you only have 10 friends and I write more than the rest of them do.

Him: *reading statuses* What am I supposed to say? Why is everyone 'liking' this it isn't funny.
Me: Just make a comment on some of the statuses.

Him: I made a comment. Are they online, how come they aren't liking my comment? Why are they responding?
Me: it's not like Instant messenger, you have to wait until they are online before they respond.

Him: well this sucks. this is boring. I'm logging off. *grumble grumble*
Me: Give it a chance.

Him: There's nothing to do on the computer.
Me: You're insane.

LOL So that's how it pretty much went, I will not be making him a twitter, LinkedIn, or any other account. He can go play Pogo and be quiet. lol

Shaving- It isn't just about your beard anymore...

I was thinking..I know that's really scary, right? But I was thinking, why do some people shave their pubes? When did this become the thing to do? How many people actually do this? I mean it must be a really big fad to have so many salons willing to let you get naked, lie down on their tables with your feet up to your chin and rip away the hair by waxing you down there. Right?

Why do some people go to a complete stranger and ask them to get up close and personal with their "Down stairs hair". Because they are seeing more of you when they do this than your doctor did at your last check up.

So what are the different types of waxing, cutting, trimming methods? Well there's natural...of course that means you still have to take a shower and wash that stuff..But does anyone make a shampoo for pubic hair? I'd be surprised if someone didn't, now that I think of it.

Then there's the 'strip' where just a landing strips worth of hair is left and it kinda looks like a landing strip...lol

Then there's the Brazilian...ouch! Wax on Wax Off...You better have your big girl panties on for this one, cause that bitch is gonna hurt. Riiiiip!

Then if anyone has ever watched any of those old Porn movies from the 70's and 80's..Oh you know the ones...The ones with the Boom chick a chick mow mow, Bow chicka wow wow porn music. You have seen the afro bush...everyone seemed to have it.

The There's the Hollywood, which leaves you with no hair at all. Nothing, nada..no where.
But wait! There's more! How about a butterfly, a birdie or a starfish carved out with your pubic hair. Yes, and they can even dye it different colors for you.

And lastly you can have a Vajazzle! That's where they glue little gems right about...your gem...lol I kid you not...there's so much more than just washing and drying now a days. Getting a little waxing seems so tame, right? Yeah, I didn't think so...lol

Book Review: Retribution by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Retribution
Book 21 in the Dark Hunter series
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
ISBN: 9780312546595
Hardcover: 432 pages

Description

Harm no human…
A hired gunslinger, William Jessup Brady lived his life with one foot in the grave. He believed that every life had a price. Until the day when he finally found a reason to live. In one single act of brutal betrayal, he lost everything, including his life. Brought back by a Greek goddess to be one of her Dark-Hunters, he gave his immortal soul for vengeance and swore he’d spend eternity protecting the humans he’d once considered prey.

Orphaned as a toddler, Abigail Yager was taken in by a family of vampires and raised on one belief—Dark-Hunters are the evil who prey on both their people and mankind, and they must all be destroyed. While protecting her adoptive race, she has spent her life eliminating the Dark-Hunters and training for the day when she meeting the man who killed her family: Jess Brady.

A gun in the hand is worth two in the holster…
Jess has been charged with finding and terminating the creature who’s assassinating Dark-Hunters. The last thing he expects to find is a human face behind the killings, but when that face bears a striking resemblance to the one who murdered him centuries ago, he knows something evil is going on. He also knows he’s not the one who killed her parents. But Abigail refuses to believe the truth and is determined to see him dead once and for all.

Brought together by an angry god and chased by ancient enemies out to kill them both, they must find a way to overcome their mutual hatred or watch as one of the darkest of powers rises and kills both the races they’ve sworn to protect.

My Thoughts
Sundown was just about to get married to the woman he loved when he was shot in the back by his so called friend. He is so incensed and wanted revenge in the baddest way and when he died he vowed to get it. Artemis heard his cries for revenge and she talked him into selling his soul to get that revenge and becoming a dark hunter.

Abigail has wanted revenge on the man who killed her parents and her adoptive family has lied to her since she met them because they want something from her. She is out to kill and get revenge on the man who she thinks killed her family, Jessup brady and now after killing other dark Hunters she is about to learn the truth, but can she handle it?

I just finished this one 2 days ago and while I really enjoyed reading about Sundown and getting to really know him, this story didn't do for me what some of the others have. I can't quite put my finger on what it was about this story that just didn't have me hanging on for dear life wanting to read each page, not able to put the book down.

There was so much information about how Sundown became the Dark Hunter he is now that is kind of took away from the flow of the story for me. I'm all for information and getting to know the characters but it seemed like the whole book was filled with more info than we really needed to know. Between that and the fact that Abigail was so hell bent on revenge, had grown up with a family who brain washed her into thinking killing the dark hunters was a good thing and getting revenge for her parents killings was the right thing to do and then to have her do a 180 spin in the other direction so easily when she thinks she saw Jessup kill her parents really made it hard for me to like this book as much as I liked th eother ones in this series..

The fact that she so easily jumped his bones and fell in love with him, it seemed so anti-climactic in the end. I will say that I love the native american story line and in my opinion the best part of the book is at the end when Ash comes into the story.

I will continue to read the books but I do hope that the next few books get back to the characters that we know and love.

Why I May Quit Watching The SyFy Channel all Together

I recently found out that SyFy has canceled one of their most popular shows and after doing a little research, I found out why.

It all has to do with money.

That's right, money. They are making enough of a profit to keep making a series that people love. They do not care that this is a very popular show and that people are getting fed up with their favorite shows being canceled because of ridiculous reasons.

According to Screenrant.com, SyFy decided to cancel the series because...“We are the network’s golden child in every way, except profit margins. Fact is, Eureka is an expensive show to make. And we could not maintain the quality of our show with the cuts it would take to make us profitable for Syfy’s new parent company.”

If this is the case, I can only see more bad things happening with SyFy. I mean first they change their name from Sci-Fi to SyFy...then they added friday Night Smackdown to their list of things to watch on their channel. Someone please tell me why we are watching wrestling on what used to be a great Sci-Fi channel?

The new parent company has changed things around so that they can air things like wrestling on what used to be a Sci-Fi genre based channel and they think we don't see what they are doing.

Heh heh, nice try guys.

It's all about the profit margin and how much they think they can make having men tune in to watch wrestling on what used to be a great channel to watch B-monster movies, actual Sci-fi movies, and most things to do with science fiction. So with their name change they have changed what they think is acceptable to air on this channel and think they will keep a large audience who love watching shows like Eureka and Sanctuary. I can only hope that Wearhouse 13 and sanctuary aren't the next shows to get the chopping block the way Stargate Atlantis did.

What are the producer's at SyFy doing with all those profits they are making...looks to me like they would rather take a little of the money and make horrible movies like Mansquito, rather than create shows we actually like to watch.

Why I refuse to shop at Walmart

I know I'm lucky to have so many stores to shop at so close to where I live. I have several malls close to me and there are Kmarts, Target and all sorts of other shops and stores around here. After talking to some of my friends on fb I realized that not everyone has the luxury NOT to use Walmart and I think they know that.

The last time I was in Walmart, the cashiers were so slow I ended up standing in line to check out for more than 40 minutes and there were only 3 cashiers open with an entire store full of people shopping. And this was at a Super Walmart where the place is huge and in each line to check out there were at least 20 people in line. They never opened another checker and even when people complained the cashiers were as slow as snails.

I called Walmart after getting home because I was so mad about the wait time. I talked to a manager who told me the cashiers were slow because they were in training. I told her she was full of it, that I had been in the same Walmart a few months earlier and one of the girls checking out was the same from a few months ago..she was not new.

I asked why they didn't have more checkers and she told me they don't have enough staff and when I asked about hiring more people she actually told me no one was applying for the jobs. Omg this woman was so full of it. So I will never got o Walmart again.

How Do You Read and a Bookmark Giveaway!

Scroll Down to the Bottom of the Post for Giveaway

I got three more books in the mail yesterday that I ordered from Amazon and when I sat down to read the big hard cover I started taking the dust jacket off like I always do. I started wondering if I am the only one who does this when reading a hard back book. I know some people use the dust jacket edges as book marks but for me it's easier just to use a regular book mark and take the cover off until I am done reading.

Another thing, how many people still dog ear pages in books? I have a huge selection of bookmarks that I use, some of them have been autographed by the authors and some are just cute as heck. I do not like to dog ear the pages in my books, heck if I can help it I don't even like to break the spine in the book I am reading. Yes, I realize I am strange. lol But it can be done. lol

Do you read a few books in the same genre before switching to another genre? I do this all the time and for the longest time I have been reading Paranormal Romance because I just can't get enough of the Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Wizards, Shifters, Demons, Ghosts ect. There is such a huge selection of great Paranormal Romance out there right now and I have several calling my name from my TBR pile.

Giveaway!
This Giveaway is for U.S. Residents only, sorry.

Just leave me a comment on this post with your email address so I can contact you and I will send anyone that posts a comment here 2 Bookmarks from my huge stash of booksmarks. How easy is that! Giveaway will run until august 20th.

Funny Story

Have you ever done something so incredibly stupid but it was funny at the same time and looked around to see if anyone saw what you did? I had one of those days the other day.

I was getting out of my brother's car and didn't realize I had sat on my hair when I got in. Yes, you read that right...my hair is just long enough for me to sit on it now. I seriously need to get it trimmed.

So when we pulled up and parked i went to get out of the car and moved forward only to have my head jerked backwards because I was sitting on my hair. I darn near tore my scalp right off my head. *obvious over dramatization* But it hurt! lol

So when I got out I looked over at my brother to see if he had seen what I had done and since he wasn't rolling on the ground laughing, I'm guessing he didn't. lol

Where do you watch movies

I watched this movie the other day and was really looking forward to it. it turned out to be so slow and really not all that great. I used to have a Netflix account until my mailman started stealing my discs and blaming it on the envelopes not holding the discs so they get lost somewhere along the line. Yeah, right.

I don't like going to the movie theatre so I usually wait until the movies are out on On Demand and buy them. I don't know what movie I will buy next but I hope it's better than this one.

When to call the police

I've got several noisy neighbors as I've told you before and so often they bring their lives outside when talking on their cell phones or when they are talking to their friends. i don't know if they realize that everyone can hear everything they are saying or not, but I'm really getting to know these guys from all the conversations I am overhearing. It's not like I am eaves dropping, they are coming out of their aprtments and being loud...I mean seriously loud.

Last night the neighbor across the courtyard from me was mad at his wife...again for not coming home on time. Whatever that means. He was telling her she was 3 hours late and not to send that text or else he would have to leave and when she said she was calling the police he told her if the police come he was going to tell them to search her so she better get rid of the drugs she had on her.

Now they have two kids in that apartment, one is a toddler and one is about 14 years old. They stood outside arguing for a few minutes and then they went inside. I didn't see anything that would warrant me calling the police but I came every close to it. The only problem is the last few times I called the police on my different neighbors...the police come out, tell the neighbors who called, talk for a minute and then leave. Then the neighbors are mad at me for calling and nothing is done anyway. So unless I see or hear actual fighting going on, I usually don't call anymore.

Getting to know me *without* pictures

I thought it would be interesting to post pictures and tell you how they relate to me. *And then I deleted all the pictures on my blog that I didn't own* But left this post because it still works even without the pictures..

This first one is a picture of my old rat who died a few years ago. His name was Dusty, he was the third rat I had and having he and his brother really grew my love of rats. I now have 4 male rats and couldn't be happier with them as pets.

I used to be completely afraid of spiders. Now when I find them in my house, I pick them up and take them back outside.

For some weird reason I love grim reapers. I think it comes from my love of Halloween. I would decorate my whole apartment with them but my hubby won't let me...lol

Chocolate truffles. They are my favorite treat. I usually buy myself one box at christmas time from a place called Figis, because Figis has the best chocolate truffles I've ever had.

I am constantly listening to music. I listen to music when I am reading, writing, playing on the computer. All the time.

Skulls...I think it's the same fascination that I have with grim reapers that has made me a lover of skulls. I have a rose colored glass skull on my shelf that I find fascinating.

Computers...I am on the computer playing, writing and on fb.

Coffee, coffee...coffee...'Nuff said. lol

Dragons. I have started collecting dragons and wizards recently. I used to collect Unicorns abut now my collecting has focused to dragons. They are so cool.

I read like a mad woman. I have to many bookshelves in my little apartment that my hubby said we may need to move just so I have a room for just books. lol

Normal? Me? nope...I'm about as crazy as can be and sarcastic as hell...lol

Bee's....I hate bee's. I have a phobia so bad that I literally can't stand to look at them. lol

More skulls...lol Because they are soo cool.

I like pictures of butterflies. I don't know why, they are so pretty. After we painted the bathroom when we first moved in here, I put rub on butterflies all over my bathroom. When my hubby walked into the bathroom when I was done, he about flipped out. LOL They butterflies stayed for a few years until we painted again.

Slowly getting back to normal

Life changes so quickly and we never see some things coming. I didn't see my mother's death coming, at least not this soon and not this fast with no warning signs at all. I knew things were going to take some time and they are, I'm slowly getting out of my depressed hole that I've been in for too long. My little brother has been there for me every single day since this has happened and I love him to pieces for that. I think we are keeping each other sane by talking each day.

My little brother is coming into town next weekend and I get to see him. he's taking my daughter for a couple of weeks when his son will be with him. The two of them are just a couple of years apart in age and I think it will be good for them to have some time together after losing their grandma. My husband lost his mother just a few months ago so my daughter lost both of her grandmother's in a very short time and I know it's affected her.

I've been going through old pictures a lot lately and buying a few more photo albums to put the hundreds of new pictures I got from my mom's place. My hubby laughs because it seems I am the keeper of the photos for my family. I have over 20 large photo albums and now have about 300 more pictures to label and put in albums. I'm quickly running out of storage space for them. lol

Looking through all the pictures has been helping and I've been making scrapbooks for a few years now. I have three scrapbooks that I made in the past three years and am putting together some old pictures to make another one. Anything that will keep me busy and my mind off of things is good right now. All i can do is get through each day and hope the next one is better than the last.

I'm back

I'm back online but not completely back to doing the things that I used to do. I just can't seem to get into them yet. My family and I buried my mother on June 30th and it's been a real living hell since then. I feel like I am walking around in a world that isn't real and my world has just fallen apart. There's nothing that can lift the darkness from my life and nothing is going to change that except maybe time.

I did not expect my mother to die this soon. My brothers and I had just been asking her to move in with my older brother less than a month ago. We wanted to to be safe where we didn't have to worry about her falling down and no one being there with her to call for help...and now she's gone. It all seems like a nightmare right now and i can't seem to pull myself out of this deep dark depressed hell I am in.

I've struggled with depression for years but I don't think I have ever felt like this....no one should ever feel like this. I'm sure in time things will get better and the pain won't be as sharpe as it is right now, but it seems like nothing in the world will ever be right again.

Sad News: My mom passed away

I'm sad to say that my mom passed away on the 23rd of this month. So for the time being I won't be around much. There's so much to do right now but my family is with me.

My mom came over to my house on the 22nd for my daughter's birthday and she seemed fine. 8pm on the 24th my mom's PCA (Personal Care Attendant) called me and told me she hadn't seen my mom that day and asked if she might have gone for the weekend with one of my brother's or was picked up for a doctors appointment. I said no to both and told her I was going to call the police to have them break into her apartment and do a welfare check.

The police got there and called maintenance to let them in and called me back and informed me that they found my mother had passed away in her sleep in her own bed. The cororner told me that it looked like she got ready for bed, turned the tv on in her room and laid down and passed away that night.

It came as a shock to all of us because I had just seen her 2 days before and while she had numerous health problems, she was doing fine.

My brothers and I went and made the arrangements at the funeral home yesterday and her funeral is going to be on the 30th.

I'll be back in a week or two.

Sad News about L.A. Banks

I sometimes struggle with a post here on my blog, but there are days that something just hits me square in the face and I know I have to pass the information on. Like the other day I was reading the posts on my favorite blogs and read a post on on Obfuscation of Reality about how L.A. Banks is battling an illness and loads of people are helping with her medical bills by way of auctions.

If you would like to see one of these auctions you can click here.

Sometimes you see something just needs to be shared with others and this is one of those times. I have read a lot of her books and this is really sad. It's sad when it happens to anyone but when it's someone you feel you know through her books, it hit harder. Link

The Red Star World Wear Scam

I recently saw a gift card in my Outside magazine, for $500 worth of free merchandise from Redstarworldwear.com

I looked over their site and soon realized that this merchandise which is mostly sunglasses and watches was not going to be free with this gift card. There is a 'service' [shipping and handling fee] of 9% per item. That's right 9% per item! So if I bought $500 worth of sunglasses from the site I would be paying about $50 just for shipping and handling. Don't waste your money on sunglasses that you could buy for $10 on the street or someplace else and get ripped off by shipping and handling fee's that cost you more than the glasses are actually worth.

If someone wants to offer you a free product, the shipping and handling will be free to. Or at the very least the 'gift card' they are supposedly giving you will also pay for the shipping and handling....which this one does NOT!

Bottom line...It's not free. Save your money and go to the drug store and buy a pair of sun glasses you can try on beforehand and make sure you like them. Don't get scammed by sites that are going to over charge you on the shipping and handling fee's for things that wouldn't never cost as much as they are charging.

My week In Pictures...

I've been busy doing all sorts of things, among them has been taking pictures or finding pictures in my many, many photo albums and scanning them to post on Fb so I could share them with my family that has no idea I still had them. Hey, I'm not called the picture keeper for nothing!

I've got all the pictures from my mom and dad that they had when they were little and I have all the families pictures that have been taken at all the family functions ect. I have about 20 very large photo albums and 4 large scrapbooks that I myself made.

I really love taking pictures and having the old pictures of my family and I. I even have pictures of really old cars and pictures of my grandpa when he was a kid. Not too long ago I went through the old pictures that my dad gave me years ago and had him tell me who some of the people were in the photos. I found I had a picture of my dad's grandparents. How cool is that?

So this is what I have been doing this week...

This is a picture I took of my String Doll that my daughter gave me. I wrote an article about string Dolls and should have it published in 2 weeks after the editor approves it.

Here's a picture of my rats that my daughter took. One of my rats, Hades is laying on his back and the other rats are snuggling with him.

This is a picture of my brother Billy and I. I was 16 at the time so it must have been in 1986..can you believe that? Oh how time flys. My brother didn't even know I still had this picture until I uploaded it to FB.

Here's a picture of the boys cage right after I had cleaned it. They messed it up right afterwards. They love to snuggle into those baby blankets.

and this is a picture of my childhood best friends kittens, back in 1984. That cats face is just priceless...He was yawning and made that face...LOL

Now I like Powdered incense...lol

I asked a friend of mine what in the world I was doing wrong with the charcoal briquettes and the powdered incense. It turns out that I was not lighting the charcoal briquette long enough for it to catch fire and get red hot, which would keep the fire inside it going and burn the powdered incense on it.

I finally get it now and have had it working just fine. Sometimes I just need to have some patience..lol

I do not like powdered incense

I recently bought some more powdered incense, the same kind that I had with my Wicca box and because it smelled good I wanted more and some charcoal incense burners. So I bought the charcoal briquettes and the incense and quickly found out that the little charcoal briquettes don't burn worth a shit. I put sand in the bottom of the brass burner I have, then lit the charcoal briquette and let it get hot, then put about 1/2 a teaspoon of incense on it and it smoked for about a minute and then stopped, I knocked the ash off the top and put more incense on and it didn't burn because the charcoal wasn't still hot. Maybe I need better briquettes.

I always seem to be writing something these days

I just finished writing another article for Associated Content from Yahoo! and now have another article published on my profile. I would probably write more but I run out of ideas really fast most days.

I really don't know how some of my author friends do it. I know authors of books that write several books a year! That would be a lot of work and quite frankly, I get tired of writing when I know I have to do it because it's work. That seems to take most of the fun out of it for me.

But thankfully I can write on my own time and get the articles I want to write out there for people to read, and it surprises me each month when I see just how many thousands of people click on my articles to read them.

But when I'm not writing articles I'm writing emails, notes, IM's, FB updates, blog updates, grocery lists, entering blog contests, reviews, and let's not forget all the wonderful paperwork for things like school, the government when it's needed, checks needing to be filled out, and the never ending list of books I want to get and put in my wish list.

The amount of writing and note taking I do seems to be never ending, good thing I have lots of paper and post it notes. lol

Fright Night Remake

I loved the original Fright Night movie and was irritated when I heard they were re-making this classic movie. The original is my all time favorite movie and I don't care what anyone says, Chris Sarandon is the ultimate vampire and no one will be able to replace him.

Now that being said, after watching this trailer I have changed my mind *yeah, I'm allowed to do that* and from the looks of the trailer it seems this isn't going to be a word for word remake of the original, which I am really glad about. I'm kinda looking forward to seeing this movie, because truthfully it looks pretty good and if I'm not comparing it to the original but watching it as a stand alone movie...I'll probably like it. Check out the trailer:

I'm a Winner!

I've been reading all sorts of books, even ebooks that I have won. Since I don't have an ereader like a Kindle or Nook, so I read all the ebooks I get on my computer. But I really don't mind, I'm going to be on my computer anyway, may as well read a book I've won and enter a few more contests.

I've been on a roll lately winning on some of the blog contests that I entered. Recently I have won:

Family Heirlooms

I recent blog post on another blog got me thinking about the things we keep from our families. Most of us have some sort of family heirloom from grandparents or parents. It also got me thinking because my mother in law recently passed away and my sister in law sent my hubby some of her things. My mother in law loved wolves so hubby was sent some of the wolf pictures and plaques she had on her walls and some of her jewelry. Our daughter was given some of her jewelry and I know she will treasure the jewelry as much as I treasure my own grandmothers that I have had for years.

I ended up being the keeper of the pictures in my family. Since I was about 12 years old everyone in the family has been giving me the pictures to keep and now I have about 30 photo albums. I also have things of my grandparents, uncles and aunts and parents that they all gave me.

Sometimes I look at things and realize that it was my grandmothers or grandfathers and it brings back a lot of good memories for me. I have a geode sitting on my shelf that my grandfather found over 90 years ago. He was a rock hound and found this rock and broke it open to find this really pretty greenish blue rock inside it. He polished it and gave it to my dad who gave it to me. I don't know what kind of stone is inside the rock, it kind looks like turquoise, but I have no idea.

My daughter is funny because she'll look at something in the apartment and tell me, I get that when you die. LOL I say, Yep, but I'm not dead yet.

Not Funny

You ever have one of those days where it seems like everything you do is just wrong? Where no matter what you do it seems like you just can't catch a break and something goes wrong? Yeah, me too. I hate it when that happens and it seems to happen to me much to often. It's really starting to mess with my mind.

Sometimes it feels like life is playing one big joke on me after another. Well Universe, I'm no longer laughing.

This stuff just isn't funny anymore. Things keep happening that I have no control over and it seems to mess everything up for weeks.

Case in point, my mailman has once again not delivered my mail when he was supposed to. I didn't get one of the bills for the month and a check I sent in for another bill never got to them. So once again I am having to complain to USPS about my mail not get delivered to the right place and once again they tell me it's not their fault. I am so sick of this. They are the mail! They are supposed to get the mail to where it's going and they are getting paid good damn money to do this.

I always pay my bills each month, always have. But now I had to call my electric company and tell them I never got the bill, that's why the payment was late. And when I tried to order a movie on Pay Per View and couldn't because they telephone company said I hadn't paid my bill I was way like, The hell you say! I sent in a check 2 weeks before it was due...but yet again they didn't get it. Which meant I had to cancel the check..$30.00, pay with a check by phone $10.00 fee and have a blemish to my spotless record...I'm pissed and there's really nothing I can do except start paying all my bills online.

I'm just waiting for the next shoe to drop...because I know it will, something else will go wrong this week...I can feel it.

My little ratty faces..

I hear the world is supposed to end today, but I'm not worried. I'm gonna go about my day and play with my rats like always. But if the Zombies start walking the streets...I'll worry...lol

Jasper just relaxing next to his brother.

Hades has a foot thrown over Jasper's face and he just laid there like that.

My Week So far...

Yesterday ken went back to the orthopedist and the cast on his arm was taken off and the pins holding the bones together were pulled out. His arm is healed but it's going to take a little time for the stiffness to go away. I'm just glad it healed.

I published three more articles and you can see them over on the right hand side of this blog where it says my name and Associated Content. How To Treat Bumblefoot in Rats in one of the articles recently published. if you read my published articles, let me know what you think of them. I love comments.

It seems that all this time I've been thinking a cold I had last month was just lingering on was actually a sinus infection. I'm now taking antibiotics and hopefully they will get rid of it so I can finally stop coughing every two seconds.

Yesterday my daughter and I watched The Exorcist for the umpteenth time. But it's such a classic movie I never get tired of it. Afterwards I put on Se7en, but that movie didn't go over as well with her. She thought it was boring even though I love this movie.

That's all the updates I have for now.

Our fan for the computer tower lol

Here's some pictures of how Ken fixed our computer and made a fan for it.

Computer Woes

yet again here I am about to tell you how my computer has something wrong with it. This time it's the Power supply which keeps one of the fans running. Two nights ago all of the sudden a red light started flashing on the tower of my computer and an alarm went off.

If was like. Danger Danger, Danger..

It turns out the back fan wasn't working and the motherboard got reaaaaaally hot. So Ken opened it up and cooled it off. Turned it off and after it cooled down, started it back up. Thanksfully...it worked. So Ken made a makeshift fan for the back of the tower for now. We will have to buy a new Power supply when we get paid.

Missing Blog Posts

So Blogger did something and now my House..blog post is missing. I know not a whole lot of people read my blog and we already know how much I love House, so I am not going to re-write the whole blog post. I know carol had commented on that blog post *Hi Carol* Waves...:)

I love House too! I can't wait to see what he does exactly..I guess this might teach him not to mess with experimental drugs in the future...Oh who am I kidding...He'd do it again..lol He's just that crazy.

So this week...Smallville ends with a 2 hour series finale. I can hardly beleive it. I love that show and think it should have had some more years on the air. Especially when stupid shows like 2 and a half men are still on the air. grrr.

At least Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries will be back next season. I hope they don't get rid of those two great shows anytime soon. That would really suck.

The other shows I am really liking right now are Criminal Minds and Law and order SVU...I have watched so many episodes of these shows I could probably kill my entire neighborhood and get away with it. Not that I'm thinking of that ot anything. *Just in case the FBI has me on a watch list* lol

Now the last show I am really liking is Sanctuary...it has been on for a few seasons and every show is pretty interesting.

I am a little upset that Stargate Universe was cancelled because I really think that show could ahve gone places...*Get it? They are in outter space..they could have gone places...lol I crack myself up*

House

I don't know how many other people love this show as much as I do, but I have been watchign House since it first came on. I love sarcastic characters on tv. Some of the other sarcastic characters that I also liked have been Roseanne, Becker, and now House.

This show impresses me each week, because they have him doing some of the craziest things and he almost awlays saves the patient...almost always.

But I saw the preview for next weeks episode and was shocked. They are going to have him operate on himself...Who the hell does that? Okay wait...lol since I had an abscess a couple of weeks ago and tried to take an exacto knife and dig it out myself, I am the wrong person to be asking that question. LOL

If it hadn't been on my back where I couldn't reach it really well, i would ahve been able to cut myslef open and dig it out and probably stick it up. But since I couldn't get to it easily, that didn't work out for me...So now that I think about it...I can see him doing this...but I doubt it's going to work out the way he thinks it will.

So is anyone else watching House?

My Funny Rats

I looked over at the cage the other morning and saw one of my rats, Hades hiding inside the blanket. So I took a closer look and what he has done is completely covered himself in the blanket and chewed a whole through it so he could poke his head out of it. He laid like this covered in the blanket with his head poking out, for about an hour. How cute is that.

Time to Pamper Yourself

I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day. I know I did. My hubby and daughter were very sweet and bought me some lotion, perfumes, body wash ect. All of which smells so good. My mom came over for the day and I made some Lasagna and salad. She gave me a pair of really pretty earrings with my Amethyst Birthstone in them. I'm so glad I was born in February because I love Amethyst.

After this summer of wearing sandals and flip flops all day everyday...my feet are a bit on the rough side. Sorta feel like those leather feet shoes up top. lol

I figured it was about time to start putting on some lotion on my feet and get them in better shape. So I started applying lotion to one foot and then the other..and then stood up in the bathroom to put the lotion away....and BAM! Fell flat on my butt! Because the rugs are out of the bathroom...you know the rugs that I slipped on and broke the toilet...yeah those rugs. So my feet were slippery and I fell on my butt and now my hip hurts again.

I can't win for losing. Thankfully I didn't break a hip..but I think I'll put the other rugs back in the bathroom...not the ones I slipped on but my older sorta ugly pink ones...that is until I buy new ones. lol

Following Through...

Just a little rant today...

I really dislike it when someone tells me they are going to do something and then they don't do what they said they would. Why do some people say they are going to do something or ask for advice and tell you that they are going to take your advice and do what you told them to...and then do the exact opposite of what they said they would do?

Why not just never say outloud that they are going to do it...then they won't prove they can't be trusted to follow through.

Don't tell me you are going to do something if you don't have plans to keep your word. Nothing riles me up faster than a liar.

I broke the toilet!

For those of you that don't know...I slipped and fell on a bathroom rug I had near the toilet and fell on the brand new toilet Ken installed less than 2 months ago. When I fell on it...I broke it! That's right..I broke the toilet. So Ken called our managers and they said they would send another toilet over and Ken agree'd to install this one too. They didn't even charge us for the new toilet. how nice was that? So here are a few pictures of Ken taking out the old toilet that I broke and replacing it...

Here's the toilet that I broke after being taken outside. The broken pice is inside.

Plumber's crack! Ahahahahaha Ken's going to kill me if he ever see's this. *totally worth it!*

Here's Ken taking the old wax ring up and cleaning up the old caulking.

Ken looking at me and telling me I better not break the new toilet. lol

Ken putting a cup underneath the hose that kept leaking even with the water shut off.

Here's the poor toilet that I broke. You can see the huge chunk missing from the bottom.

See where that missing piece is supposed to be? Yep, I broke it.

Some Days...

Some days you just want to be left alone. It's not hard to remember those days when you were a moody teenager and nothing during the day seemed like it was going the right way for you.

And as you got older you felt like this can't keep happening..I'm an adult now! I won't allow my life to take these types of twists and turns that make my insides knot up into twisted pretzels that take a xaxan to unravel. but it happens adn we all remember what it would feel like...

You got up only to find out that your mom ate the last bowl of your favorite cereal, at lunch you find out you forgot your lunch money and feel like a fool for having to borrow some from your best friend.

You look into your book bag only to see that you forgot your homework for the second time this year and your favorite teacher tells you how dissappointed they are in you. On the way home, it starts to rain and you didn't bring your umbrella and while a car drives by...they spray you with a huge puddle. When you get home the door is locked and you don't have your key so you have to crawl through your bedroom window.

Later that night when everyone gets home you just want to be left alone to cry about the horrible day you had but your parents don't understand what could have been so horrible... I mean it's just a school day!

Little did they know...

But as we get older and grow up thinking that things like this won't happen because we are adults, we come to realize that sometimes life just wants to give you the trash bin and there's nothing you can do but smile and move onto the next big disaster that comes along.

My favorite bumper sticker is...*Somedays you are the windshiled and some days you are the bug*

Either way you are screwed.

Just when you think things are looking up...

Just when you think things are looking up and getting back to normal....

Ok, so I didn't have a chair delivered, but I really hate it when things happen that I have no control over. Am I a control freak? Well no, but I don't like unexpected bad things to happen either.

Everything was going good, I'm feeling better. Ken has a cast on his arm that is going to be there until May 19th and it looed like the spray I got is getting rid of the mites my rats had.

Then...I tried to order a movie from Pay per view and it wouldn't let me. I call the cable company and think they can just reboot my dvr and he tells me I haven't paid my bill this month. What? Um..yes I did. But they never got the check.

The mailman strikes again.

I put the cable bill and the telephone bill both out in the outgoing mail at the same time and they didn't get it. So I had to pay for the bill with a check by phone and that cost me an extra $10.00

Now I have to figure out if I should cancel the first check that they never got or not. I am thinking yes, I should, but that's another $30.00 to put a stop payment on a check.

I am thinking about paying all of my bills online but as often as people get hacked..I'm just not sure and what if something happens to my computer? What then? I'm so irritated.

My Bookshelves are Out of Control

I knew that I was running out of room on my bookshelves and that's why I decided to buy two wall hanging book shelves because I don't have any more floor space either. I've tried weedling down the amiunt of books I keep...but that never works...they are all 'keepers'. If you are a reader like me you know what I'm talking about.

I thought it was funny, the other day the mailman asked my hubby what are in all the little packages he keeps delivering for me and Ken told him it's mostly books that his wife wins, buys, gets for free, ect..

The mailman looked at him very seriously and told him he should get me some help before it gets out of hand. My mailman thinks I am a book hoarder! I'm not even kidding. Ken told this guy that I have about 2000 books and he went off...I mean literally went off about how it's dangerous to ahve so many books and he should put a stop to it right now. That these little apartments can't store that many books without someone getting hurt. I kid you not, Ken said the mailman was just letting loose. lol

But anyway, I expect to be buying a couple more books with the Amazon.com gift card I should be getting for doing some surveys. Hey, I spend a little time doing surveys and get free books. I think that's a fair exchange. I could buy other stuff on Amazon and some times I do like rat food and toys and a few days ago since Ken said that I never ever get him anything with my gift cards, I bought a Figi's sausage and cheese sampler. I think he will be very happy.

Now I'm off to make some more room for those books I'll be getting next week. LOL

Had a small Health Scare Over the Weekend

The other morning I woke up and I was having slight chest pains and shortness of breath. I figured it would go away and waited most of the day until it got worst and at 2pm called an ambulance to come check me out. My blood pressure was really high but the heart monitor said my heart looked alright so I went to the ER just in case. I had all sorts of tests on my heart and they all came back clean. But they found out I do have an irregular heart beat (arrythmia) but it's nothing to worry about. My doc said a lot of people have it but most don't feel it and never know they have it, the fact that I can feel it when mine beats weird threw me into a full blown panic attack, which cause my heart rate to elevate and make my blood pressure go through the roof.

I've also had an infected cyst on the back of my shoulder for the past 3 weeks and didn't have it looked at...because again I thought it would just go away...it didn't. (I'm really stubborn that way). The darn thing turned into an abscess that was huge and terribly painful and he talked me into letting him take that out too.

But they let me come home after keeping me in the hospital over night and keeping me up all night running tests. They gave me one short of morphine for the chest pain and wouldn't you know it...it made me sick. Then when they did the CT scan with iodine contrast the iodine contrast made me sick and they had to keep giving me anti nausea meds all night. Fun night.

But at least I know the irregular heartbeat I keep feeling isn't anything to worry about, and that darned abscess is now gone..even though he left a big hole in the back of my shoulder to heal closed on its own..yuck.

I scared my family half to death because I hardly ever get really sick and haven't been in the hosipital in forever.

Oh and hospital beds suck...my butt hurts from sitting in it. lol

They took blood so many times over the course of that day, that night and all the next morning. I also had 3 EKG's, A Chest X-Ray, an Echo of my heart and a CT Scan of my lungs to make sure there were no blood clots. They did a full work up and checked for any possible heart attack signs or symptoms they could think of.

It seems that I have some sort of irregular heart beat that isn't going to hurt me and other people have the same thing and enever know it because they can't feel it thumping in their chest. I can feel it thumping in my chest like my heart is stopping and I could see it on the heart monitor I was hooked up to. All the doctors said that I had a panic attack when I started feeling the thumping from the irregular heart beat and then started getting muscle spasms in my chest, which led me to have an even bigger panic attack where I had shortness of breath, dizziness and numbness in my arms and then my blood pressure spiked way up when the ambulance got here because of everything. But now that I know what I'm feeling it doesn't worry me, I just have to learn to live with the thumping in my chest.

I've also gone on a diet and started walking a little more. I really don't want to end up in the hospital ever again. That's absolutely no fun what so ever.

I think my doc was more concerned about the abscess on my shoulder than anything else.

I was an idiot and let it go for 3 weeks and it got really bad. By the time a doc looked at it, it was about 3 inches round and almost 2 inches high sticking up off my skin. The doc really gave me a lecture about letting something like that go. But I thought it would just go away at some point...in the future sometime. Eh, live and learn.

Keeping Busy

So this weekend Ken is in California dog sitting for his sister while she is gone. So I've been keeping myself busy. I put together my corner wall bookshelf yesterday, which was easier than I thought it would be. Especially with the terrible instructions they give you. It was a page with a few pictures and some of them made no sense. I finally figured out what the little plasic things were after reading reviews on Amazon, where I bought it. They were wall anchors to screw the shelf to the wall, not that I could figure that out by the pictures in the instructions. Either way, it is up and now I have room for about 50 more books. lol Good thing because I just ordered 5 more from Amazon.

I've been wanting to read Big Bad Beast by Shelly Laurenston and Primal Bonds by Jennifer Ashley..so I ordered both of those and a couple of others.

Review: Wicked Pleasure by Lora Leigh

Review of Wicked Pleasure by Lora Leigh

Blurb:

Jaci Wright has been running from the Falladay twins, Chase and Cam, for seven years now. Fears of the desires they arouse in her, and the knowledge of the relationship they wanted with her, spurred her to run, to find a life that kept her traveling the globe and out of their reach.

But now life has come full circle. A new job has placed Jaci in the Sinclair mansion with Chase and Cam. And they're tired of waiting. It's hard enough to face accepting a relationship with two men rather than just one, but gossip and the tattered tales of juicy secrets fill the society she now moves within. Can Jaci face the world knowing she's a lover to both men, or will her hesitancy and her fears destroy her chance of happiness forever?

My Review:

Seven years ago Jaci runs from both Cam and Chase when she learns that she isn't just about to sleep with Cam but with his twin brother Chase as well. At the time Jaci is a virgin but has wanted Cam for years and even though he thought she knew what coming to his home would entail, she had no idea that he wanted to share her with his twin brother.

Seven years later Jaci comes to Virginia to do a decorating job for one of her friends, Courtney. But what she gets is way more than just a job, she comes face to face with flirty Chase and then later Cam who makes it very clear he and his brother plan on having her in ways she can only imagine.

Jaci also finds out the there's more to the decorating job than she could ever imagine. There's a super secret club that the brothers are a part of and she will have to get over her shock at what goes on there before she can do her job.

Jaci has secrets and so does cam, but neither of them are willing to let the other one in until the very end of the story.

This is Lora Leigh's 9th book in her Bound Hearts series. I have really liked all the books so far but I did have a few small problems with this book. First, Jaci doesn't love Chase but she wants Cam so much even though she's never had another lover, she willingly has sex with both brothers but only ever calls out Cam's name.

There were glimpses where Jaci had been abused by a couple in this story and yet when cam spanks her, she has no problem with it. It would have been a little more believable to have her be scared at first and the memories of being whipped come back. Then bring the teasing spanking into the story in a way to replace those bad memories with good ones with Cam, but that doesn't happen and it was a little unbelievable and I want the story I'm reading to be at least a bit believable.

The other thing that really bothered me is that Jaci kept saying in her mind that she saved herself for Cam and even seven years later she's never taken another lover....but she took her own virginity with a vibrator? When I read that I could not believe that had been written. What woman who is saving herself for a man takes her own virginity with a vibrator?

Chase's character is very under developed in this book. Instead of being the hero right along with his twin brother he comes off like a secondary character that wasn't given much thought. We really don't get to know much of him in this book.

While I really enjoyed reading this book for the most part, there were things about it that bothered me, but not enough to tell others not to read it. I still love Lora Leigh and will be reading more of her books in the future.

I learned Something New

My hubby Ken has had the bandages on his hand for a week or so now and he wanted to take a shower without having to worry about getting the bandages wet, so he had me take all the bandages off. But you could have blown us both over when I took that last bandage off. His doctor only told him that he used wires to fix his arm....he did not tell him that the ends of those wires were going to be poking out of his skin or that he would have to pull them out after his arm healed.

Ken and I were both looking a the 5 wires stiking up out of his hand and were like, well...how the heck is this gonna work? And how does he plan on getting them out?

I taped a trash bag over his arm so he could shower and then went to looking online about these wires. I didn't know they were called K wires, so I googled surgical wires and found so much stuff that didn't pertain to him. So I went to youtube because they have all types of medical precedures and within a few minutes I found them.

The doctor takes a pair of pliers, grabs the end of the wire and twists and turns it while pulling until it is pulled out of the bone. Some of these wires are down 5-6 inches into the bone.

I'm really surprised the doctor didn't tell Ken about this before he left...I'm really surprised. This is something a person needs to know, ya know. I hope Ken gives him hell for not letting him know what was under those bandages and what was gonna happen next time he goes in to see him.

But if you want to see K wire extraction and I know you do...here's a good video I found. Just fast foward to after they get the cast off...lol

Things are looking up

Happy Saturday everyone.

Well my hubby Ken came out of surgery very well. No complications as of yet, but he is still in quite a bit of pain. The surgeon said he used wires to put the breaks in his arm back in place that it was less intrusive and should heal faster.

You never really realize how much you use both your hands and arms until you can use one of them. I've been putting his socks and shoes on for him as well as cutting his meat and helping him put on deodorant. I remember how I felt when I partially dislocated my shoulder and he was helping me do all those things and more. You feel like your being a burden, but he's really not and I know he would do the same for me...he did.

His next doctors appt. is on the 20th, so we'll see what the doc says then.

Going to be gone for about a week

It's been a bad week for me, so I am taking a little break.
My husband broke his arm and is having surgery to fix it on the 6th and I'm hoping all goes well with that. But he is going to need me to help him do things he can't. Just having the half cast on right now is making it hard for him to do things because he can only use one hand.

So I'll be back after things settle down at my house again.

Don't do anything I wouldn't do...

How Many Giveaways do You Enter?

Ya know a few years I hardly ever entered the online giveaways because I hardly ever won anything and the blog contests and giveaways weren't as popular as they are now. But a few months ago I got a little obsessed in entering every giveaway I sw online and for a while I was winning all sorts of stuff and had packages coming about twice a week. But then I started looking through all the stuff I was getting and had to pause for a minute because what in the heck was I going to do with all the books, rubber ducks, pens, pencils, pencil toppers, free samples of baby food, candles, and all sorts of other things I had been getting.

In one month a few months ago I entered into 150 different giveaways, sent away for 67 free samples, and won 2 gift cards to amazon.com...I ended up winning 3 of the blog contests that I had entered and whenh I got the books and read them I asked myslef why I had entered a giveaway for them when I knew form the description I wasn't going to like them.

I donated a bunch of books to my local library and gave some away to my friends. Now I make sure that I only enter giveaways for stuff I actually want or can use.

I have been using the free dog food I got for my rats because for some odd reason they love the stuff and the free baby samples I got I gave to my daughter to give to one of her pregnant friends.

I got a little obsessed there for a while but I am much better now...lol I still enter a lot of contests and giveaway and much to my husbands dismay I win quite a bit of books and get a lot of free samples. And it's nice to win things like baskets and swag bags too. I love getting stuff in the mail. lol

Review: Pleasure Me by Monica Burns

Lady Ruth Attwood is a forty one year old courtesean who's younger lover just left her for a much younger woman. The fact that she was abandonded for someone younger seriously dents her feelings about her age. But her friends talk her into going to a ball where she meets young Garrick Stratfield.

Garrick is 12 years younger than Ruth and she thinks he is just being nice when he intervenes on her behalf at the ball, but she finds out different when she finds herself up against him for the purchase of a house they both want. Neither one knows they both want the large house for orphanages they both need to expand.

The more Garrick is around Lady Ruth the more he likes her and wants to be with her but he has a closely guarded secret, Garrick is a 29 year old virgin. When Garrick was younger his ruthless uncle found out about a physical birth defect Garrick had and mercessly teased and taunted him about it, now Garrick believes no woman will ever want him in her bed.

Lady Ruth is so reluctant to enter into a relationship with Garrick because of their age difference, she feels she is too old. But Garrick can barely keep his hands off of Ruth even though he is reluctant to complete the act of love making...that is until Lady Ruth gives him a way to come to her bed where he has no worry she will see what he is ashamed of.

Pleasure me is an emotional read that was hard to put down. The eventual love scene was built up just enough that I was waiting on the edge of my seat for it to happen and when it did the scene played out better than I could have expected and with an erotic twist I couldn't have anticipated.

Monica Burns does an exceptional job of perfectly combining dramatic confrontations, emotional storylines and white hot sex scenes.

I give it a 5 out of 5

Boycott Dorchester

A writer that I really like has a blog post about what Dorchester Publishing is doing to its writers and today was the first I had heard about this. But if you want to know what I'mk talking about please click here to visit Brian Keene's blog post about what Dorchester Publishing is doing.

In a nut shell they have stopped paying their writer's their royalty checks and any other monies they are owed for the past year because they aren't making enough money to pay everyone. Dorchester is also going to an all ebook format, which so many of us readers won't like.

I am making sure that I don't buy anything from Dorchester until I read that they are treating their writer's the way they should, what they are doing is wrong.
