Falcor was very happy to get a toy.

He ran around with it for about 5 minutes.

Then he started chewing it...

My Review

I have a small dog that weighs less than 10 lbs and he chewed and tore this toy to pieces in less than an hour. The first thing that came off was the rope. He chewed it for a few minutes and got almost the entire thing detached from the toy. The only part of the rope left was the part that was still inside the toy and I had rope strings all over my floor within minutes.

I really don't think it's safe for dogs to be chewing on rope strings because they can swallow them which could cause an obstruction. So I picked all that up and threw it away. Then he attacked/chewed a hole in the rear of the duck where the rope had been attached and started pulling out the stuffing.

I pulled out a bunch of the stuffing and gave it back to him. Within a couple of minutes he had shredded the back end of the toy and had small strings and shredded material all over the floor. It was at this point that I threw the toy away. Which was less than an hour after I gave it to him. So I really can't recommend this toy because it's not very durable.

You can find this toy here. It was going for $13.95 at the time I got it which was a bit much for a toy that lasted less than an hour.

Disclosure: I was given this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

The poor duck was destroyed. It never had a chance.

Recipe: Mary's Macaroni Salad

I make Macaroni Salad a few times a year and I usually make quite a bit because we eat it with dinner for also for a snack. But if we are having people over for dinner, this is a great side to make the day before and have it already done, plus it's super easy to make.

You'll need:

1 box of Elbow Macaroni-cooked
1 can of Black Olives-slices
2 Dill Pickled- diced
1/4 cup of Pickle Juice from the Jar of Pickles
2 Stalks of Celery- diced
1 cup of Mayonnaise
salt and pepper to taste

What To Do:

After cooking the Macaroni, let cool completely. Mix all of the ingredients together, cover and let refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving.

This is what mine looked like when it was done. You can add anything you like to yours. I sometimes will add diced boiled eggs to it or diced ham.

Do you like Macaroni Salad? Have you ever made your own?

My Review

I really like that there are pictures of what the inside of the ear looks like with different problems as well as normal, in case you don't know what to look for.

I also love that this set comes in a hard case for easy and safe storage. If your kids, husband or significant other has an ear wax problem, this is something that I would recommend getting. Sure you can just got tot he doctor and have them remove the ear wax once it's a problem and you can't hear well. But wouldn't it be easier and more of a time saver to just have one of these at home to do it yourself? As long as doing something like removing your child's ear wax isn't something that will squick you out, this is a life saver. It can also be handy to check and see if your child or significant other has an ear infection, then you know you need to see a doctor. This set is really easy to use and comes with easy to understand instructions.

If you'd like to buy one of these for yourself, you can buy it here

Review: Lion Eyes by Jennifer Ashley

Book Description

Bree has just decided to give up trying to be a Shifter groupie when a lion Shifter slams into her truck and tells her to drive. Seamus is on the run from hunters, other Shifters, and who knows who else. All Bree knows is that he's compelling, needs her help, and most intriguing of all, wears no Collar ...

Seamus McGuire fears he's gone crazy--feral--and become a killer. His only hope of getting away from the hunters and police on his tail is Bree, a human woman who not only knows a lot about Shifters but has great compassion for them.

Things are more complicated than they seem, though. Seamus is on a mission--to protect those in his care after the destruction of Kendrick's compound of un-Collared Shifters. Seamus must keep it together and make sure his charges stay hidden, but at the same time, he's pulled to Bree as he's never been pulled to a woman before. He needs to prove he's innocent and not crazy before it's too late for himself, Bree, and those he's vowed to protect.

My Review

Seamus isn't sure if he's turning feral and has just killed a couple of humans or if someone set him up. All he knows is that he can't remember everything that happened, 2 humans are dead, he got shot and hunters are after him now. So he does the only thing he can think to do, he jumps into a car and yells for the woman to go.

Bree likes shifters and she knows a lot about them because she's a shifter groupie. So when a crazy shifter jumps into her car and yells for her to go, she goes. At first she's scared, then curious and then when it looks like the hunters are about to get them, she does something I wasn't expecting. She isn't the stupid little shifter groupie that I first thought she was, she is strong, smart and stands up for what the wants and believes in. She's awesome!

Although Seamus is afraid of what he might do and he's on the run, we find out that he's one of the good guys because he's been looking after others who are also on the run. Bree and Seamus realize that Bree is his mate and that's why she is able to calm him down just by being near him.

And one of my all time favorite shifters, Tiger is back in this book as well. That man is really something and I look forward to seeing more of him in each book. I've been reading this series for a long time and I think this is a great addition to the series.

Bree and Seamus go through a few things and Seamus isn't sure who he can trust at first but finally figures out that the shifters that tracked him down aren't the bad guys and he can trust them. In this series, the shfters are treated badly by the government and some law enforcement and they are forced to live in shifter towns and have to wear magical collars that hurt them if they fight, the collars are not something they want to wear. I can only hope that somewhere in the future we see the shifters get more freedom and the laws pertaining to them start changing for the better.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Favorite Picture of the week

You might remember a few weeks ago when I posted pictures of these green metal tree's along the path where I walk the dog. Well my daughter took my grandson Logan further down the path where there's a little bench by one of the big metal tree's.

So here's a picture of Logan and the metal benches and a big metal tree. They put these in along the path as part of a beautification project. But I still think they are funny. Logan liked them though.

Guest Review- Assassin's Kiss by Sharon Kay

Book Blurb

Locking emotions away is how Scorpio survived years as a conscripted killer. Now, as a Lash Watcher, he uses the same lethal skills to help his fellow warrior demons maintain peace in the realms. When a mission goes awry, he finds himself a thousand miles from home with no weapons or comms. Injured and alone, he is taken in by a group of witches who know him well.

And want him dead.

Tessa’s affinity with metal makes her one of the most powerful witches in her coven. Her deepest wish is to stop the oppression of her people—a direct result of her former leader’s murder. She agrees to marry the chief of a rival coven, knowing it won’t be a love match. But she abandoned the idea of a soul-deep bond long ago. Especially one with the rough, former mercenary warrior who shows up and claims she belongs to him.

Even from behind bars, the longer Scorpio stays, the more he unsettles Tessa and she questions all she thought she knew. Choosing him will put everyone she cares for at risk. He’s nothing like she expected, and the last thing she could dare to want.

I'm a guest reviewer over at I Smell Sheep today where I reviewed this book. I'd love it if you checked it out.

My Review

I had a brand new brush set but decided to give it to my daughter because she said hers was falling apart. So I needed another brush set and was lucky enough to get this one at a discount. It has all the make up brushes that I need and they came in this nice red pouch to store them in.

The brushes work really well and I like that they are very soft. Any make up that I've used with these brushes went on smooth and was easy to apply. The brushes pick the eye shadow and blush up very easily and release the color where you want it to go. Some brushes will hold on to the color until you have a lot on the brush which is a waste but these brushes work very well. I haven't had any problems with this set unlike some of the other brushes I've gotten over time these bristles aren't falling out when I use the brushes and I really appreciate that.

The handles are light so they are easy to use and handle and they seem to be sturdy so I expect them to last a good long time. If you'd like to get this you can find it here

Disclosure: I was given this brush set at a discount in exchange for an honest review.

Count to 10 with a Mouse by Margaret Wise Brown

A few months ago I read a great review on Caffeinated Book Reviewer's blog about this cute book and stuffed mouse toy. I knew as soon as I saw it that I was going to get this for my grandson. So I bought it for him for his birthday at the end of this month when he turns 3 years old.

If you've been visiting my blog for long you know that I love rodents, all rodents. I've bought him books before but the fact that this one came with a really cute stuffed mouse, really sealed the deal for me. I've bought him stuffed hamsters for Easter and I found a few other stuffed animals but this is the first mouse I've seen that I actually liked and since it came with a book, that's definitely a plus.

So if you're looking for a cute present for a child in your life, this would make a great gift.

I found mine on Amazon

Recipe: Mary's Seafood Salad

Ken and I bought a small package of seafood salad from the deli in the grocery store a while back and it tasted like it had been made with Miracle Whip which I detest. So after picking through what we had bought and seeing the different ingredients, I decided that I could probably just make some myself and make it better, which I did.

You will need:

1 package (12 ounces) Imitation Crab Meat
1/4 cup Mayonnaise
3 green onions-diced
3 stalks of celery-diced

What To Do:
Shred or slice the imitation crab meat into very thin strips. I also cut some of the crab meat into small cubes for contrasting consistencies. Add the mayo, shredded imitation crab, diced green onions and diced celery. Mix well and refrigerate for 3 hours before serving.

This is what it looked like after I mixed it all together. It was really good. Much better than the stuff at the grocery store deli.

Review: Seventh Generation Wipes and Laundry Soap

Product Description

This Plant-based formula is tough on stains without fragrances, dyes or artificial brighteners.  Get a clean you can trust that is made for sensitive skin.

My review
I really like that this laundry detergent doesn't have any harsh scents to it and when I was washing the cotton baby blankets to use in my rats cages it didn't make my rats sneeze. That's because there's no dye's and no harsh scents to this which is great for baby clothes and blankets as well as for people who are sensitive to things like that.

Product Description

Free & Clear Baby Wipes work gently with plant-derived ingredients.

Free of alcohol, fragrances & dyes
Free of parabens and phthalates
Hypoallergenic
Thick, strong and generously-sized

My Review

I use baby wipes during the summers here in Las Vegas when it can get over 114F, just to freshen up or to cool down. But I also have a 3 year old grandson and I like to have baby wipes handy for the times he comes over because kids are messy and a strong, wet wipe that's strong but soft on their skin is a nicer way to clean them up than using a damp paper towel that can sometimes be scratchy to their delicate skin.  These wipes are great to have around, exactly what I'm looking for.

Disclosure: I was sent a free sample of both products in exchange for my honest review.

Garnier SkinActive Party Box

I was lucky enough to be picked for the Garnier SkinActive Party from Crowdtap and they sent me a big box of products to share with the party goers.

Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Daily Moisturizer
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water- makeup remover
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water- Removes waterproof makeup
cotton pads for removing makeup
A $10 Visa card

Overall I was happy with the Moisturizer because it left my face feeling soft and moisturized. It's not overly oily and it lasted for a long time. But it is a little thick and made my skin feel sticky after a while. I like that this has a spf 15 in it because it's easier to find and use a daily moisturizer with an spf already in it than it is to apply 2 different products. Overall it's a nice moisturizer but I've tried others that were better so I probably won't be purchasing this after the bottle is gone.

I give this 3 out of 5 stars

The Micellar Cleansing Water (pink Bottle) was my favorite of the two cleansing waters. It isn't overly oily and smells good. It does take a bit more to remove makeup than if I had used a wipe or Cold Cream. I can usually get my makeup off in just a few wipes if I use Cold Cream but this took several swipes and left my eyes stinging a little bit.

I give this 4 out of 5 stars

My least favorite Micellar Cleansing Water by far was the one in the blue bottle. It's oily and took a lot of effort to get my waterproof mascara off. It stung my eyes and left my face feeling so oily that I had to use a cleanser to wash my face afterwards. So I cannot recommend the Micellar Cleansing Water (blue Bottle) because it just didn't work well for me.

I give this 3 out of 5 stars

Disclosure: I was give free products in exchange for honest reviews and hosting a party to share the products.

Review: The Harvest: A Tah'Narian Christmas By M.A. Church

Book Blurb

So what’s an alien to do when his mate refuses to say what’s bothering him? Why, he sends a deep space message to his mate’s mother on earth, what else?

Keyno not only learns the importance of Christmas to his chosen, he’s also shocked and confused as to why Dale hasn’t shared this with him. There is no such celebration on Tah’Nar, but that doesn’t stop Keyno from trying to bring happiness to Dale. He’s not only a starship captain, he’s also an excellent strategist. He gathers his closest friends—Doc and Gibor—and researchers the holiday.

He finds three important things about Christmas: First there is an older, heavyset male called the Santa Claus. The second is the holiday usually revolves around a tree laden with shiny baubles and lights with gifts under it. And finally they learn they’re supposed to eat way too much, then lie around and moan because they ate too much.

Humans are so odd.

These mighty warriors survived the birth of their young, surely an undertaking of this magnitude is not beyond their grasp. Hopefully Dale will be pleased with all the trouble Keyno went to. But just in case, Keyno has a very special surprise in store for his chosen for his first Tah’Narian Christmas.

My Review

Dale had been human before he was harvested from Earth and brought to be Kenyo's mate. Even though he's happy with his life now, he still misses his human family and some of the Earth customs like Christmas. Kenyo can tell that something is wrong and Dale won't tell him what's bothering him so he does the only thing he can think of, he reaches out to Dale's mother on Earth. After figuring out that Dale probably misses Christmas, he does what any loving mate would do...he tries to make Christmas come to them.

This story was sad because Dale misses his family but it was also funny because of the fact that Kenyo doesn't really understand the whole Christmas thing. But he did the best thing and invited Dale's parents to Tah'Nar to have their first alien Christmas and some of Dale's human friends, Chad had his parents there as well and they were all going to celebrate together.

I love the fact that Dale's sister Susan is there and so is her husband Evan. Evan had a hard time accepting any of the aliens and even forbade his wife from seeing Dale because of his feelings for the aliens. But after seeing how hurt she was and talking with one of the aliens and seeing that the humans who were taken are now happy, he's come around.

Reading how Susan and Dale used to do things to get into trouble when they were younger and then when their mother brought a photo album with her to show how cute Dale was as a kid, made me think of growing up with my own brother. It's small things that made me smile and made me love Keyno even more than I already did. How he acted with the kids and Dale's family was wonderful.

The kids or young as they're called there are so funny. They are playful and are always making strange cat-like sounds.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars

This book was free on Smashwords when I got it, it might still be.
