Medical Cannabis Coming To A Corner Near You!

I would rather see a person use a drug that has been approved by the doctors, government, scientists and proven by patients to work on things like PTSD and depression than have someone use pot ...a drug that is illegal and has no real health benefits other than that which is in the mind of the pot smoker who uses it to get high so of course they are going to think it helps. If you think that marijuana is the answer for ailments like cancer, PTSD, Depression and other illnesses that aren't terminal, then you are an idiot and are perpetuating the problem.

I see soo many pot smokers saying that they would much rather take a drug (Medical cannabis) which has no side effects rather than a drug approved the the government because it probably has toxins or some such nonsense in them. Oh and don't get your kids vaccinated because those vaccinations are filled with poison.

Why is it that so many of the conspiracy theorists seem to be the same paranoid people smoking medical marijuana? Did you know that a side effect (yes pot has them) of smoking pot is paranoia?

People like to say that medical marijuana eases their pain, helps with their anxiety ect. well, with that thinking why don't we just get some junkie to say that heroin eases their pain and make that legal too. I mean it's the same logic.

I am appalled to see the Senate has passed the bill that allows marijuana dispensaries to become legal here in Nevada. I mean I really thought our government had more sense than this. Just click the link to read the article. Here's a little of what it said, "CARSON CITY — A bill to allow medical marijuana dispensaries easily passed the Senate on Wednesday.

Backers said the measure, approved 17-4, establishes procedures to comply with a constitutional amendment approved by the voters in 2000 that allows the use of medical marijuana.

The bill would allow 40 clinics in the Las Vegas area, 20 in Reno, two in Carson City and one in each of Nevada’s remaining rural counties."

All I can hope is that it goes no farther than this and the bill gets stopped. But in reality I don't see that happening. I can only hope that if marijuana ever does get to be a legal drug that all those pot smokers that go to buy their pot from these dispensaries have to pay a hefty tax on all their marijuana that they buy, even the medical marijuana card holders. They should have to pay a hefty tax of at least 25% for the privilege of getting high legally.

There should also be DUI type laws just like for drinking and driving. A person under the influence of marijuana if it becomes legal to smoke..should not be allowed to drive while under the influence and if they get caught driving while smoke..DWS..they should go to jail, have hefty fines and after the 2nd conviction of DWS= driving while smoking or driving while high or driving while under the influence of pot..take your pick...they should get their pot card pulled so they can't get it for a while.

Even if weed is legalized people are going to be going to jail for getting behind the wheel while high and driving, causing accidents and driving stupid.

Oh I can see this all going to hell in a hand basket.

Most pot heads say it's not likely to overdoes on pot but this article says otherwise thanks to something called, "Dabbing".

RIP Patches

My little guy on the left passed away tonight. He was 3 years old. His brother on the right looks a lot like him. 3 years old is pretty old for a rat and his two brothers are the same age and seem to be in good health so I am hoping they live quite a while longer.

When I first adopted him from a friend, he was really shy and wouldn't let me pet him. He his under the hammock and behind the plastic igloo.

But he warmed up really fast and would run over to the front of the cage when I came over.

He was the littlest boy in the cage and a very sweet boy.

He didn't gain weight like the other two have, he stayed a tiny boy.

But he was always ready for a treat. "Mommy, you brought me a treat, right?"

Patches was the boy in the back in this picture when Bandit popped up in front and photo bombed me.

When I first adopted them, he had a brother we named Fang that he cuddled with all the time. Unfortunately Fang passed away soon after we got him.

Fang and Patches hung out a lot together when I first got them and I made friends by feeding them both treats while they sat together.

I'm gonna miss my little guy.

RIP Patches

Focus Groups

A few years ago I was called by a survey agency a few times and asked if I would be willing to come in and sit in a room around a table with about a dozen other people and talk about a product or TV show. There was a large two way mirror behind us and they told us that our discussion would be video taped and shown to the people paying for the discussion. I would get paid $80 for 2 hours, get a free lunch and coffee and other drinks were always available.

Of course I said yes and went down to their site and one time we talked about a Daytime Soap Opera and what we thought should happen with the different characters. I had a lot of fun with this one and enjoyed it since I was actually watching this particular soap opera back then. It's been a while since I've watched one now though.

Another time we talked about frozen dinners and how they could be better. I think we all pretty much agreed that we would only eat them on special occasions like we just didn't feel like cooking. lol

And yet another time we talked about one of the laws that had just passed here in Las Vegas about it being illegal to give the homeless food if they were in a park. None of us liked that law. I mean if there are people going around on their own time handing out sandwiches to the homeless and they want to do that...why should the police be able to stop them and give them a fine. It didn't work anyway..those people kept doing it and just paid the fines. So it was rescinded and the law is no more. I wonder if us being in that focus group and none of us liking that law had anything to with with the law being over turned?

Have you ever participated in a focus group?

Looks Like I'll Have To Buy A New Cage

Because Lucky has decided to chew a hole through his cage.

Yes, there's the little culprit.

I turned the cage so the hole is in the front and he seems to have stopped chewing on it...for now.

But it's a pretty good size hole and if it gets any bigger I'm afraid he'll get his little head stuck.

So unless I can figure out a way to put something over that hole to keep it from getting any bigger that he won't be able to just chew through...my next survey points will be turned into Amazon gift cards for a new cage.

Yep, he thinks looking cute will appease me...and he's right.

It's Memorial Day

I would like to thank those who chose to serve. Yes, it's a big deal and they should get recognition for what they did. But I also want to say something else. There are a lot of our troops coming back with PTSD and other ailments and there's only one way to cure that and it's not at the bottom of a bottle or in a bag of weed. It's called counseling.

See a therapist, seriously.

Think back to when our relatives and neighbors came home from serving in Vietnam..they had problems and many of them sought out psychological help. I know my uncle did. He came home and had nightmares, I know this because his wife told us and he finally started seeing a psychiatrist and started taking anxiety meds and anti depressants. After a while he no longer needed the meds and was able to stop seeing the psychologist. Those people self medicating aren't going to be able to get through what is bothering them if in fact they have PTSD and aren't just faking it for the weed and disability payments...which does happen more often than you think it does.

I had several relatives including my grandfather who served in the military and when they came back you didn't see them acting the way you see people acting these days. They put their big boy pants on, acted like a man, got real help if they needed it and got on with their lives.

If you are telling others that medical marijuana helps with PTSD you are perpetuating the problem..you are the problem and you are brain washing others to believe this BS the people who really truly need psychological counseling and the right medicine aren't going to get it because of people like you.

Stop being a whiny little girl and really deal with your problems.

I had PTSD at age 12 when my mother's boyfriend shot himself in front of me. I didn't deal with it for a few years and then I finally got psychological help and anxiety medications, it took a while but it no longer bothers me the way it used to. It's still there, but if I had hid my head at the bottom of a bottle or in a drug induced stupor, nothing would have changed.

Happy Memorial Day

I am Anti-Marijuana

I have seen too many people spouting the lies about marijuana for way to long and I just can't nor won't be quiet about how I feel about it any longer. I am anti marijuana, anti medical marijuana. It's a drug, it gets you high. Period. There are no good uses for it, it doesn't help anyone, it doesn't cure cancer and it sure as hell doesn't help anyone suffering from PTSD, social anxiety, depression or seizures.

Someone actually sent me an article in which they proclaimed that a parent gave their child marijuana and it cured his cancer, it's utterly ridiculous. If it cures cancer than why aren't all the pot heads who have cancer and are smoking it because they falsely believe that it can help them gain their appetite back or ease their pain..how come it isn't curing their cancer? Because it doesn't cure cancer. That's why. It's not medicine. Stop spreading your lies about how this is a natural medicine and it cures all kinds of things. Just because it grows in the ground does not mean it's medicine. Oleander also grow in the ground..if you eat them they kill you. Just because it's "all natural" doesn't mean it's good for you.

It's a drug. It gets you high. That's all it does.

Want to ease symptoms of depression, anxiety or PTSD? Take a xanax and talk to a psychiatrist. Pot does not cure these ailments, it masks them while you are HIGH as hell and you don't care. Just like an alcoholic when he gets drunk doesn't care about his problems while he is drunk the pot head isn't bothered by their problems while high and gets a false sense of being "better" because they are smoking pot, when in actuality they are just too high to really understand what's going on in their brain.

Smoking pot actually causes a lot of the symptoms that people smoke it for. It causes paranoia, diarrhea, foggy thinking, weakened immune system, lung disease and makes seizure disorders worst.

I found some great pages on Fb that you can join if you are against marijuana getting anymore wide spread than it already is.

Do You Give Money To The Homeless?

I have on occasion given a few dollars to a homeless person who was standing on the street asking for food money. I just hate the thought of someone going hungry.

Then I saw this documentary a few years ago about the homeless in Las Vegas where a news crew hung out with over a dozen homeless people and they showed the crew how they made money, how much they made and what their life was really like.

Most the the homeless people they followed had homes and a car and wore old stinky clothes and held signs that read "Homeless need money for food"

They showed the crew that they were making upwards of $100 a day and when they made enough they would walk around the block, get int heir car and drive home.

Some of the people said they couldn't get a job because they were felons, made more money pan handling or were drug addicts and couldn't hold down a job.

It was sad but it also made me mad.

So the next time I saw a homeless person asking for money for food I asked them if they would like a burger from the fast food place I was going to. Only one time out of 4 did the guy say yes. All the other guys said they would rather have the money which they did not get.

Now I realize not all homeless have cars, a home or are going to use the money for drugs, booze ect.. but if I offer to buy them food you would think they would be happy to accept it and that's not always the case because some of them are scam artists and don't want food, they want the money for other reasons.

I think if someone wants to help the real homeless that actually need the help, they should give money to the shelters, food banks, chow halls, and homeless shelters that help the homeless in their area.

Elective Mastectomy

I just heard on the news that Angelina Jolie and a Miss America contestant have both elected to have a Mastectomy because they have a high risk of getting breast cancer in the future.

They don't have breast cancer now and they don't know if they ever will but they choose to have surgery and cut a piece of themselves off...just in case.

I had thought about this some years ago after finding out that you could actually do this even when there's nothing wrong with you right now. My grandmother had breast cancer, my mom had throat cancer, my aunt had stomach cancer, my uncle had lung cancer and my grandfather had cancer. There's a big history of cancer in my family...but after thinking about it I decided not to do anything like this unless I actually find out I have cancer.

I know some people think why wait? Why take the chance that it could become stage 3 in a few short weeks and kill you before you even know you have it.

Why? Because I'm not going to worry about these types of things until or if they happen. I understand other's choice and reasons for going to such drastic measures but I decided that wasn't the right choice for me.

I wonder what criteria they use to tell you that you have a 90% chance of getting this cancer. Is it just family history and the fact that you have the gene that may cause this cancer or is it something else. I mean what if they find a gene that can detect bone cancer, brain cancer, brain tumors, eye cancer..ect..are people going to elect to have an arm or part of their brain removed just to be on the safe side?

I don't know...but if science keeps moving along the way it is, we might find out.

Yeah, That Should Fix It!

So I woke up last week to a painter right outside my living room window and he was painting the overhang right outside my window that hangs over the walkway by our apartments. Now this overhang has major cracks in it and when it rains the water runs right through the cracks and onto the walkway. On the other side of the building this happened last year and the overhang fell down because it got soaked with water. That's what's happening now on my side.

So what does the manager do about the cracks? Why she sends a painter out to paint over them. The cracks are still there but now it's painted. I'm sure that fresh coat of paint will stop the water from falling through the gaping holes in the overhang...not!

The painter was such an idiot that he dripped paint all over the side walk and didn't bother trying to clean it up.

Paint drips can be seen along the entire length of the walkway.

Down past my apartment door the painter didn't even bother to paint the entire overhang..just threw some fresh paint over the cracks and left everything else the old color. Yeah that looks wonderful.

Oh and the apartment right next door to me that has a roof leak and can't be rented...yeah the manager and maintenance man decided to take out the air conditioner and leave a huge hole right into the apartment that birds, insects, bee's, dust, water/rain, and people...let's not forget about how this isn't the best neighborhood and we have drug dealers and stupid teens looking for places just like this to hang out and do drugs or whatever they're doing. So keeping a huge hole open to the apartment for weeks probably isn't the best idea they've ever had.

Recipe- Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Today I thought I would share with you my own recipe for Chicken Enchilada Casserole. I don't sit and roll my enchiladas, I like to layer all the ingredients and bake it. So you will need 1 lb of grated cheddar cheese.

2lbs of cooked shredded chicken breasts

1 can (28 ounces) of Enchilada Sauce. I like Macayos.

1 small can of Diced Green Chili's. I only use 2 teaspoons of this but you can use more if you like it more spicy.

1 can of whole black olives. I get the whole olives and slice them myself. It's cheaper and you get more olives that way.

Corn tortillas. How many will depend on the size of your pan. I use about 16 of them. 8 on each layer.

Now that you have all of your ingredients you have to layer them in the pan. Start with a little of the enchilada sauce and put the corn tortillas overlapping each other on first. Then layer a little bit of everything and top with more sauce and corn tortillas so that you make a second layer.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

This makes great left overs too.

Texting and Phone Calls

I realize that in this day of texting and smart phones I am an old dinosaur because I don't text nor do I have a cell phone, smart phone, ereader, tablet, ipad ect...

I have a laptop and a landline phone. That's it as far as techy devices go in my home.

Has the art of the phone call become extinct?

Not for me. I talk to my younger brother one the phone at least once a day and if I don't talk to my daughter on the computer we talk on the phone at least once a week. My dad doesn't have a computer so we talk on the phone. But everyone else I know..they want to text, send emails or fb.

For the vast majority of todays youth, they would much rather send a text than pick up the phone and make a phone call.

I used to talk to my mom on the phone all the time before she passed away. I could spend an hour on the phone with her and I miss that. An email or text just isn't the same as hearing someone's voice on the phone.

Why I Like Blogging

I really like writing, I always have. When I was 11 years old my parents gave me my first diary and wrote in it every day. I liked it so much that I started buying large notebooks to write in and did that for years until I was introduced to the internet.

While I like others to read what I write, I really like reading what others have to say. I like meeting new people and getting to know them through their blogs posts. I don't get out much and don't see many people besides my family face to face but I have quite a few friends online that I've never talked to other than through the computer.

I like reading how other people think, feel and see how creative they are. Reading other people's lives through their blogs and social media keeps me connected in a way that I didn't think would be possible for someone who doesn't do much interacting face to face.

I've found many people have some of the same experiences, beliefs, and stories that I have. We are not all alone, we are right next to one another even if it's through the other side of a computer monitor. I've met people from all over the world and it's been fascinating to see that no matter where we are from, we are so similar and have so much to talk about.

I like blogging because it's kept me from sitting in my apartment all alone in my own little bubble. I like sharing my thoughts on different subjects and reading others comments even if they don't agree with me. I think being able to talk about a subject we might not agree on in a civil manner is also great.

I truly do appreciate all my blogging friends and appreciate all the comments you have left for me, without you there would be no reason to keep doing this.

Dead Man's Switch

I found a site that I wanted to share with you all. It's called dead Man's Switch. What it does is let you write 2 emails to two recipients each and store them in case something were to happen to you. Each month or so the site sends you an email with a link that you click on to reset your Dead Mans Switch. If you don't click the link it will send 2 more emails to you at 45 and 60 days after the first one and if those get no response then the emails you stored will get sent to the people you specified.

I thought it was kinda a nice way of making sure you get to say goodbye to your loved ones or tell them anything you think they need to know like the will is in the top drawer of the white desk..or whatever. If this sounds like something you'd like to check out here's the link..

Games

I'm not a gamer because I don't play Xbox or PS2 or any of those types of games. I never have. If I ever say I'm playing games online to pass the time what I mean is I'm playing free games on sites like Inboxdollars. Games like Luxor (pictured above) because it's easy and I can figure it out without a 50 page book telling me what all the different things I have to do to get to the next level.

I tried playing some of those xbox games and I can't make it a couple of minutes without getting killed off and having to start over. Like I said..not a gamer. lol

I like Luxor because I can get some good high scores and it tells me my score would have beaten 96% of those who have played the game. lol So I'll stick with these easy old school games and you can continue to play tomb raider or whatever it is that people play on xbox these days.

Recipe- Fried Cube Steaks

If you're like me you just take these cube steaks and fry them in a little oil and if you're like me, they came out tough, tough, tough... So I tried something different and it made all the difference. They are much more tender and taste really good.

Take your cube steaks and dredge them in a mixture of flour, salt and pepper. be sure to coat them really good.

Add enough oil to a frying pan so that the oil covers the whole bottom of the cube steak and the sides. Add floured cube steaks to a hot pan and cook on med/high heat just until both sides are browned. They cook really fast, about 4 minutes on each side.

Serve with whatever side you like, we had mashed potatoes and gravy that night.

Books I'm Looking Forward To

I have several series that I've been reading for years and for me they just keep getting better and better. I have also found some new favorites and a few authors that just produce one great book after another. Since a lot of my favorite authors are having new books released soon I thought I would take this opportunity to list a few of my favorites that are coming out soon or have come out recently. (Maybe not soon enough for those of us waiting for them)

*Click on the link to take you to where you can buy it on Amazon. I'm not an affiliate, I get no compensation when you click on the links. I just thought I would make it easier for you to find these great titles.*

Dark Lycan by Christine Feehan- The next book in Christine Feehan's "Dark" series comes out September 3rd. This is by far the longest and oldest running series that I've been reading. It's actually the very first series I ever started reading. (I know, I'm shocked as well) But it's by far my most favorite series of books. I never get tired of reading the next book in this series. Vampires, Romance, Carpathian men (omg they're hot) and brutal battles. What's not to like?

Affliction by Laurell K. Hamilton- The next book in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels. Comes out July 2nd. I have to say this is my 2nd favorite series right after Christine Feehan's Dark series. I always look forward to reading this series and I love the characters in her books. I know that some readers have stopped reading and have said they think there's too much sex in these books, but that's part of the storyline... and part of why I like it so much. I first found this authors book on another blog and won one of her books. It was the first of many that I would read.

Darkness Bred by Stella Cameron- This is the 2nd book in the Chimney Rock series and it comes out on May 28th. After reading the first book in this series, Darkness Bound...I knew I had found a new series to love. I'm so excited to see what will happen next. I won the first book in a blog contest (Aren't those great?) and read it. I'm not sure I would have found this series or that book without that contest. I've found so many great books, authors and series through blogs and giveaways, it's just amazing.

Tall, Dark and Vampire by Sara Humphreys- This book comes out on August 6th. I first found this author when I won one of her books "Unleashed" on a blog. I liked it so much that I started buying the other books in the Amoveo Legend series and she has quickly become a favorite author.

Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon- Another long running series that I've been reading for a long time. One of the very best things about series is that we readers get to know the characters even better than we would have in a stand alone book. We may meet some secondary characters in one book and a few books later in the series they get their own story. I really like that. One of the best books in this series was Acheron...This next book is about his twin brother and I have a feeling it's going to be just as good.

Biding His Thyme 4 by Shelley Munro- This is available now and is the 4th book in the "Fancy Free" series. As you can tell I really like reading series and Shelley does an amazing job in this one. I found her books years ago on another blog and after reading just one of them I was hooked. She has many stand alone books as well as a couple of truly hot series.

Dark Wolf by Kate Douglas- This is the first book in the new Spirit Wild series and is available now! I found this author years ago when I won a Wolf Tales book...and let me tell you it was so erotic, so hot..I actually blushed as I was reading some of it. I was just getting into romance reading and had only read some cowboy romance at the time, but let me tell you..that all changed once I finished her book. I've been a PNR junkie ever since.

So there you have it. Some of my favorite authors and series. Did you happen to see that I found these authors when I won a book of theirs on other blogs or through giveaways? I cannot tell authors enough how much that has meant to me. I would not have found half of the great books I've read were it not for the authors and blog owners that give books away as prizes. Because our book habit cost money we readers are usually really picky about what we spend our money on and what books we pick. So when we win a book by an author we might not know or haven't read before and we find we like them, we usually go and buy their other books. I know I do. That's one of the reasons I enter sooooo many book contest, blog contests and giveaways. I love finding new authors and books to read and this is a GREAT way to do that.

I hope some of you reading this post will click on the links, read what the books are about and find a new book that you love.

Recipe-Beef Ribs With Mushroom Gravy

I make this gravy with a lot of dishes and it's so easy. I made it with beef ribs for the first time this week and Ken and I really liked it, so here's the recipe.

1 lb of beef ribs
1 can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup
2 tsp oil
1 can of water
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups steamed white rice

In a pan brown your beef ribs in the oil, salt and pepper as you like. Sear ribs on both sides until almost cooked all the way through. These ribs can be a little tough if not cooked really well so if you like your meat rare, this is not the dish for you.

Mix one can of Cream of Mushroom Soup with 1 Can of water in a bowl, pour over beef ribs, let simmer on med/low heart for 30 minutes stirring frequently. If it's too hot and starts to burn, lower heat. Sauce will thicken as it cooks.

Make white rice as you normally would. I use a electric rice steamer and that takes about 30 minutes to steam.

Pour beef ribs and mushroom gravy over rice and enjoy.

How To Test Your Blood Sugar

A few years ago I found out I had Hypoglycemia. Which is low blood sugar. It's the opposite of Diabetes which is high blood sugar. I found out when after eating something with a lot of carbs or sugar I would get dizzy, feel really tired and not be able to wake up and get extremely shaky. My doctor gave me several blood tests and found out I had low blood sugar and gave me this test kit to use at home. It comes with a meter, lancet and a few strips. The strips you have to purchase each month.

The lancet is easier than the ones I first saw. This one you push the end, put it against your finger and press the little yellow button which makes a tiny needle prick your finger so you can get a small blood sample.

You put the test strip into the meter and put your blood sample onto the test strip and wait for the number to appear.

Mine was a little high that day. The normal range is between 80-120.

Have you ever used a blood glucose meter?
