Review: Target Beauty Box

I was able to snag another Target Beauty Box last month and while there were 2 available they went really fast and only one was available by the time I got to the site. But for $7.00 this is what I got in my box.

I've tried everything and I liked everything with the exception of the Nivea In Shower Body Lotion. That stuff left a weird sticky residue on my skin that was hard to rinse off and I didn't like how it felt on my skin at all.

Favorite Video of the Week

I came across this video the other day by mistake. But I couldn't stop watching it. He is in Thailand and is trying a mixture of the different bugs they cook and eat there. He wasn't gross about eating them like some of the people on those shows do by opening their mouths so we can see the squirting of the bugs. Most of the bugs look deep fried or some such thing and it made me laugh because every time he took a bite he like, "Oh that's pretty tasty. Tastes like what you would expect an insect would taste like."

Sorry mate, I don't know what to expect an insect to taste like, why don't you explain it to me. lol

My Review

My husband has a Kindle Fire and I bought him a Stylus a few months ago but it was big and bulky and he wanted something smaller, lighter and not as bulky. So when I saw this one, I thought he was like this better and since it came with two stylus pens, I really liked it. 

This comes with two stylus pens, two ink refills, and two rubber tip replacement heads as well as a little add on for your key chain. We both have larger fingers and I hate using my fingers with the Kindle because I always end up clicking on something I didn't mean to. Using a stylus is so much easier and more accurate. 

I really like that this has a rubber tip but that it also has a microfiber tip.  I really don't like the drag when using a rubber tip but the microfiber tip glides over the screen easily and I really like that much more. I might have to give one of these to my UPS man so the next time he has me sign my name I'm not using that rubber tip.

My Favorite Picture of the Week

My grandson Logan turned 3 years old this week. He and my daughter came over and he opened his presents from us, we had dinner and I made cupcakes. 

As he was opening some of his presents, he looked over at the tv and saw that cartoons were still on and he forgot all about opening his presents for a moment. lol

Review: HemingWeigh Natural Himalayan Metal Cylinder Lamp 17 cm with Salt Chips

My Review

I love this lamp, it's bigger than I thought it would be and it's so pretty and relaxing when I turn it on. I don't know about any health benefits and don't know if I even believe that but it's such a great conversation piece and such a pretty lamp to have in any room. 

Now there was just one thing that I have to complain about. I really loved that this had an on/off switch on the cord but when I went to use it to turn it off..it wouldn't work. I tried several times and it works sporadically. Maybe once out of every 10 times I try to turn it off will it actually work, so that's why I'm not giving this 5 stars. I don't know if they try the switches out before they ship them out but this one doesn't work. 

It comes with two bulbs, the salt rocks, basket and the cord. It has enough salt rocks to completely fill the basket and when the light is on the rocks give off a really pretty light orange light.

I give this lamp 4 out of 5 stars.

It does make for a very pretty and unique lamp. There are actually several different kinds and some are made with one large piece of salt rock. I kind of liked the basket with the smaller salt rocks though. If you'd like one, you can find this one here.

My Review

Nix has always been one of my favorite characters in this series so I was glad to see a little of her here. She is badass and shows off just how badass she is just a little in this book. But I have to say that Orion is the one who is making me a little uneasy. He speaks in riddles most of the time, he's vague and the fact that he saved Rune from being a sex slave and then gave him a job that made him use sex to get information...yeah, he's kinda creepy to me. 

The Morior are supposed to be the bad guys in this series while the Vertas are the good guys but we see things a little different in this book as we get to know some of the characters from both sides so now it's hard to know who the real good guys are. Are the leaders not telling their people the whole truth? I am having a harder and harder time trusting Orion who is the leader of the Morior because he doesn't seem to be truthful, but who knows. It could be that each side really thinks they are doing the right thing. I don't think we'll really know the truth until the author shows us what she has in store for this storyline. 

Jo is every bit the street girl that she portrays herself to be. Not knowing where she came from or even what she is, has made her life very hard. Her earliest memory is waking up with Thaddie in her arms and knowing that she had to take care of her baby brother. So she tried but being a street kid, stealing from the wrong people can have its consequences and she was killed and had to leave her brother with a lady who was taking care of him. Even though she didn't 'die' she was reborn into something else but what she isn't sure. 

Rune is part fey and part demon. He uses sex to get information and the women he's with don't seem to mind as long as he has sex with them. Because of what he is, his blood is poisonous and he has to be careful not to kiss or scratch anyone he doesn't want to die a horrible death. He spent centuries as a sex slave and he is seven thousand years old, so he's been around a while. He was saved by Orion and now woks for the man as an information gatherer and hitman who uses hit bow and deadly arrows to kill those he's been assigned to kill. 

Rune is sent to kill Nix, the leader of the Vertas but Jo thinks he is aiming at her brother so she stops him and that's when things get really interesting because these two even though they don't trust each other are drawn to each other. Jo has some secrets she's not willing to reveal about herself until she has to and I loved how shocked everyone is about what she can do and what she actually is. It was a nice twist. 

You can read this book as a stand alone but in order to really understand all of the characters, it's best to start from the beginning. 

I give this book 5 stars.

Recipe- Potato and Chicken Bake

If you like potato dishes then this might be a good one for you. With all the potatoes and vegetables in this dish you can leave out the chicken if you want to. 

You will need: 

2 Large Potatoes- Cubed

3 Boneless Chicken Breasts- Cubed

3 Carrots- Cut into Bite Size Pieces

1 Cup of Mushrooms- Sliced

1 Bell Pepper- Sliced into Bite Size Pieces

1 Onion Sliced

3 Celery Stalks- Sliced into Bite Size Pieces

3 Green Onions diced

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 Can of Tomato Sauce

3 TBSP Frank's Hot Sauce

What To Do:

Add potatoes, chicken, carrots, mushrooms, bell pepper, onion, celery, tomato sauce and hot sauce to a large pan. Mix together well, put lid on pan and put into a 375 oven for 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender. 

Add cheese and green onions to top of dish and bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Ken got a new robe for Christmas and Falcor wanted to roll around in it so bad. He kept trying to play with it like it was a stuffed animal. So Ken gave Falcor his old robe. lol He's very happy.

My Review

I've had the same green frog shower curtain in my bathroom for about 5 years, so I wanted to change the shower curtain from that into something more elegant and have been looking for just the right shower curtain. Then I saw this one and knew this was the one that I wanted and I am glad this is the one that I ordered because it's so nice. I really like the tree pattern on the shower curtain and think this motif would go with just about any decor. I added a new brown rug and this new shower curtain to my bathroom and it looks totally different from the cartoon green frogs and green carpet I used to have in there. I really like the change.

I hung it up in my bathroom and I really like it.

My Review

I have a small dog that weighs less than 10 lbs and he chewed and tore this toy to pieces in less than an hour. The first thing that came off was the rope. He chewed it for a few minutes and got almost the entire thing detached from the toy. The only part of the rope left was the part that was still inside the toy and I had rope strings all over my floor within minutes. 

I really don't think it's safe for dogs to be chewing on rope strings because they can swallow them which could cause an obstruction. So I picked all that up and threw it away. Then he attacked/chewed a hole in the rear of the duck where the rope had been attached and started pulling out the stuffing. 

I pulled out a bunch of the stuffing and gave it back to him. Within a couple of minutes he had shredded the back end of the toy and had small strings and shredded material all over the floor. It was at this point that I threw the toy away. Which was less than an hour after I gave it to him. So I really can't recommend this toy because it's not very durable.

You can find this toy here. It was going for $13.95 at the time I got it which was a bit much for a toy that lasted less than an hour.

Recipe: Mary's Macaroni Salad

I make Macaroni Salad a few times a year and I usually make quite a bit because we eat it with dinner for also for a snack. But if we are having people over for dinner, this is a great side to make the day before and have it already done, plus it's super easy to make. 

You'll need:

1 box of Elbow Macaroni-cooked

1 can of Black Olives-slices

2 Dill Pickled- diced

1/4 cup of Pickle Juice from the Jar of Pickles

2 Stalks of Celery- diced

1 cup of Mayonnaise

salt and pepper to taste

What To Do: 

After cooking the Macaroni, let cool completely. Mix all of the ingredients together, cover and let refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving. 

This is what mine looked like when it was done. You can add anything you like to yours. I sometimes will add diced boiled eggs to it or diced ham.
