Freebie Friday!

Welcome to another edition of Freebie Friday, where I tell you what free samples and full sized products I received in the mail and how you can get them too. Someone asked me why I do a 'Freebie Friday" each week, so I'll tell you.

A while back I listed all the free samples and wins that I had received that previous year and so many people didn't believe that I could have gotten so many free things. So I decided to prove it by taking a picture every week and sharing the sites that I found the links to the freebies at. So now you too can get great free samples coming to your mailbox each week.

You can find links to samples like these at Hey It's Free and Freebie Shark.
Did you know you can sign up at Tomoson and get free products too. You can also sign up at these sites and get products at a great discount. No Kidding CouponsAMZ Review Trader, and Elite Deal Club.

This week I received:

A sample box of coconut covered dates and a coupon.
A sample of Advil pain reliever.
2 samples packs of facial moisturizer.

I also received a sample bottle of Infagrow Next Step Toddler milk from PinchMe.

RIP Flower

I adopted Flower and Scribbles at the same time and Scribbles passed away a couple of months ago. I rescued them in 2014. Flower passed away tonight at the old age of 2.8 years old.

She was the first hairless rat I've ever had and I had a little to learn about them, like how she liked to pose for the camera. She was such a diva and my friend even made this meme when she saw her picture.

When she and Scribbles turned a year old, I made them a birthday cake. She hid over in the corner with a little bite.

She soon became the most lovable little rat and loved coming out, running around and dive bombing our shirts.

She was so photogenic and it seemed like she posed for the camera all the time.

She loved food and treats and I cut these tiny strips of carrot because it was fun watching her eat them.

She got a little whip cream on her chin one day when she and I shared a piece of pumpkin pie. I share this picture all the time because it's the cutest thing ever.

She tried grabbing the plastic bag one morning when I was spot cleaning her cage. How cute are her tiny fingers?

She lived the life of comfort and loved her hammocks and fleece cubes.

But her most favorite place to be was inside my or Ken's shirt.

When I put this big soft bed in her cage, she loved it and slept in it often.

Flower loved ice cream too. She was nice enough to let me have a few bites of my ice cream cone.

This is the last picture I took of her this week. She was slowing down and I knew it would probably be soon that she would be gone so she was getting all sorts of her favorite foods. She is eating a piece of Vienna Sausage here.

She was 2.8 years old and since rats live between 2-3 years, she was an old lady rat.
She was a very happy old lady rat though and I'm going to miss her.

Review: Tropicana Vitamin C and Zinc Orange Juice

From the BzzAgent Website

Made without added sugars, water or preservatives, Tropicana Vitamin C & Zinc has 3x as much Vitamin C as regular OJ. This delicious 100% orange juice is made with fresh squeezed oranges and is an excellent source of Vitamin C and good source of zinc to help support a health immune system.

My Review

I was sent a free full size bottle of this orange juice and it was gone in 2 days because Ken and I really liked it. I hadn't tried this particular orange juice before but we have tried Tropicana before and we liked it. This orange juice wasn't bitter at all and it didn't have a bunch of bulky pulp in it. It really tasted like fresh squeezed orange juice without having to squeeze it myself. I'll definitely be purchasing this orange juice in the future.

And it was gone in a day. Must go buy more now.

Disclosure: I was sent a free full size bottle of Tropicana Orange Juice from BzzAgent.

Favorite Picture of the Week

A few days before Thanksgiving my brother came down and when he brought in this huge bottle of whiskey I told him and hubby *on the right* to hold it between them and smile so I could get a funny picture. They did this instead. Goofballs.

Product Review: Ronson Medical Premium Fluoride Scissor 7.5 in

Product Description

Innovative non-stick Fluoride coated surface for easy cutting tape and bandages.
7.5" premium utility scissor
Autoclavable medical scissor
Proprietary stainless steel coating
100% Ronson Medical Satisfaction Guarantee

My Review

I got these medical scissors to have in my first aid bag because you never know when you'll have to cut some fabric for a sprained wrist, cut bandages or cut a shirt or pants off of someone who needs your help when they can't do it themselves. I think it's important for everyone to know basic first aid. I took a basic first aid class before my daughter was born and even though that was more than 24 years ago, I still remember what they taught in the class and if I need a reminder, I can always use Google.

If you have a small child or like me have a grandson, I think it's important to have a basic knowledge of what to do in an emergency and these medical scissors or scissors of a similar nature are something that should be in a first aid bag.

They cut bandages, medical tape and clothes with ease.

If you'd like to buy these scissors, you can find them here

Recipe: Loaded Mashed Potato Balls

Have you ever wondered what to do with those leftover mashed potatoes? I saw this recipe on Facebook and just had to try it out and I'm glad I did because it was so good.

You'll need:

2 cups leftover mashed potatoes
1/4 cup diced bacon
1/4 cup diced green onion
Small cube of cheddar cheese for each potato ball
1 egg
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs beaten in a bowl
Salt, pepper and garlic salt to taste
1 cup of vegetable oil

What To Do:

Mix 1 egg, mashed potatoes, bacon, green onion, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a bowl.

Put flour, bread crumbs and beaten eggs in separate bowls.

Take a small amount of the mashed potato mixture and flatten it in your hand, add a cheese cube and roll into a ball. Do that with all of the mashed potato mixture. Dip each of the potato balls into the flour first, then the beaten eggs then bread crumbs. Fry the mashed potato balls until they are golden brown and then bake them at 350 degrees for 5 minutes.

They came out really good. When you cut them open the cheese should be melted, the outside should be crispy and the inside should be soft like mashed potatoes.

Does this sound good to you?

Favorite Picture of the Week

On Thanksgiving I made a bowl with Skittles, Reeses Pieces and M&m's in the bowl. We tried playing a joke on my dad but he didn't want candy that day but I got my daughter, brother and hubby with this. For those who haven't had these candies, they look the same but taste different. One is chocolate, one is peanut butter and one is fruity.

Review: Japan Candy Box

So a couple of months ago I decided to order a 3 month subscription of Japan Candy Box so I could give some of the candy to my son in law and daughter for Christmas. They both really like Anime and candy and I thought that getting some genuine Japanese candy would be interesting for them. This month's box was filled with interesting items.

When you first open the box it has a card with what you've gotten and cute tissue paper.

Inside the box was a selection of different candies and treats.

This is everything that was in this month's box. I'm going to share a few of the treats that I tried.

These cookies are so darn good. They have a soft crispy cookie on the outside and a soft creamy center.

This looked interesting and it was. It tasted like different ice cream flavors in a chewy candy.

I love gummi candies so I had to try these and they were really good. They tasted like I was eating an orange.

Another gummi candy and this one was Mango flavored. I don't really like Mangoes all that much but this was really flavorful and tasted like the real thing.

Each of these boxes is $20 but I prepaid for 3 boxes and this is the last one. I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase as I got to try some of the Japanese candies and I still have more than enough to give some to my daughter and son in law for Christmas in their baskets.

The Sample Cabinet

I get asked a lot what I do with all the free samples and free products that I get. If you're new to my blog, I post a picture every Friday of the free things that I got that week. So I thought I would show you where some *or most* of the free things that I get end up. My White Cabinet that's in my bathroom. It has 5 shelves and is a floor shelf, meaning it's a free standing cabinet. The first picture is of the first three shelves.

Everything in this cabinet I've gotten for free or for really cheap in the Walmart box which is only $5 or the Target Box which is just $7. But most of these little samples size bottles came free or I won them. That middle shelf holds most of the tiny sample size bottles.

This picture is of the 2 bottom shelves. It has the extra sample size bottles of deodorant, the little pouches have some of the other sample envelopes. There's also a baggie filled with sample envelopes of toothpaste and toothbrushes.

This is clearer picture of the middle shelf, It's filled with tiny bottles and a few full size bottles that I got for free of nearly free. I just gave my daughter a box of samples and odds and ends of things that I'd gotten for free. If I can't use it I know she will.

Last month I also made a gift bag of samples mostly toiletries like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and lotion for the woman who moved in 3 doors down from me because she moved in with just 3 bags of clothes. No furniture or anything. The manager actually gave her a bed, chair, couch and cooking pans and plates that other residents had left behind when they moved out. When the manager told some of the resident she could really use some extra stuff a lot of people around here brought her some stuff. It was really nice to see.

So now you know what I do with all those free and nearly free samples that I get.

Product Review: Chef Series Standard Flexible Silicone Spatula

Product Description

The Perfect Standard Silicone & Stainless Turner with Innovative Design & Quality Materials. Each of our pro-grade utensils is designed to meet the needs of chefs and bakers and manufactured to the highest standards using only the best materials.

Each piece features:

- Ergonomic Easy-to-Clean Functional Design
- S-Core Internal Stainless Steel Support Technology
- High Heat Pro-Grade Silicone
- Soft Grip Non-slip textured finish
- Safe for Coated & Non-stick Cookware
- Lifetime Guarantee

My Review

I have three plastic spatulas right now but each one of them seem to get a little more melted every time I use them. I try not to use the metal spatula because I don't want to scratch my non stick pans so I knew I needed to get a hard plastic or silicone type spatula to use with my pans.

This one works really good and I've used it enough to know that it's not going to melt if I fry an egg or need to turn over some fried potatoes that are in a little hot oil.

I also really like that it's not floppy because it has metal inside the silicone to keep it stiff enough to turn over heavier foods without the spatula bending.

If you'd like to buy one for yourself, you can find it here
