This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
This week was quiet but one morning I woke up and took the dog out and saw this graffiti spray painted across the front of my apartment building.
The moratorium on evictions that our governor put into place during the height of the Coronavirus comes to an end on June 30th. I know of 3 people who haven't paid their rent here in my apartment complex in 3 months. So I suspect that there will be several if not more evictions here really soon. Plus the maintenance workers have been working on the 3 vacant apartments in my courtyard for the past few weeks that have been vacant for 5 months. So I fully expect we'll be getting several new tenants just in my courtyard, so I don't know if things around here will be staying quiet for long. I guess we'll see.

Life Update:
We finally got a new appointment for Ken's Lung Biopsy. He's going in for it on Tuesday the 23rd. I'm hoping for news about when they will finally start some kind of treatment after they get the results from this test.

DeleteThank goodness they got that appointment rescheduled right away, though, I feel like they should have honored it while he was there the first time. ReplyDeleteThey could have called us and my daughter could have taken a taxi to the hospital and taken one home with him but they didn't even give us a chance.
DeleteSounds like things may stir on up with evictions. Hopefully everything can go as well as it can with the appt and things get back on track.

DeleteIt's sad people have to be thrown out for not paying the rent when presumably they just don't have the money. That can only mean a big increase in the numbers of homeless.

I think there is going to be an increase in the homeless after the evictions.
DeleteI wish apartment owners could come up with a better plan to help renters. They need their money, of course, to pay their bills, but perhaps some could adjust the rates while things are bad.
ReplyDeleteThat's why the moratorium went into effect for three months and you didn't have to pay rent. But now all that back rent money is due and people are struggling.
