Apartment Life #207
This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
This week was quiet but one morning I woke up and took the dog out and saw this graffiti spray painted across the front of my apartment building.
The moratorium on evictions that our governor put into place during the height of the Coronavirus comes to an end on June 30th. I know of 3 people who haven't paid their rent here in my apartment complex in 3 months. So I suspect that there will be several if not more evictions here really soon. Plus the maintenance workers have been working on the 3 vacant apartments in my courtyard for the past few weeks that have been vacant for 5 months. So I fully expect we'll be getting several new tenants just in my courtyard, so I don't know if things around here will be staying quiet for long. I guess we'll see.

Life Update:
We finally got a new appointment for Ken's Lung Biopsy. He's going in for it on Tuesday the 23rd. I'm hoping for news about when they will finally start some kind of treatment after they get the results from this test.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Sending best wishes for the biopsy and a treatment plan that helps.
ReplyDeleteAnd wouldn't it be lovely to control what kind of neighbors you get?
I would love to be able to pick my neighbors.
DeleteOh those neighbors strike, yet again! 🙄
ReplyDeleteIt's always something.
DeleteThank goodness they got that appointment rescheduled right away, though, I feel like they should have honored it while he was there the first time. The eviction thing will affect so many people around the country for sure. Stay well, and be safe. Sending hugs to you and Ken and your lovely daughter. RO
ReplyDeleteThey could have called us and my daughter could have taken a taxi to the hospital and taken one home with him but they didn't even give us a chance.
DeleteSounds like things may stir on up with evictions. Hopefully everything can go as well as it can with the appt and things get back on track.
ReplyDeleteOh I think there are going to be a lot of evictions in this state.
DeleteHope they start treatment soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope so too.
DeleteHope all goes as scheduled Tuesday. I’d love to know what the graffiti means.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know that tooo.
DeleteHope some new neighbors are quiet and polite. All the best to Ken from all of us.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope they are too.
DeleteI hope the new neighbours won't add to the chaos, since it sounds like there's no shortage of it...
ReplyDeleteAll the best for Ken's appointment! It's high time they start his treatment.
I can hope that they are all quiet but I doubt it.
DeleteFingers crossed for Ken!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThat's good that they some people got some breaks during this time. Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteYeah but then when the moratorium is lifted I hope they can pay all the back rent they owe.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear that Ken has another appointment for the biopsy-I hope he actually gets it this time and treatment can start. I hope you get some decent new neighbours. I know what a worry it can be waiting to see who is moving in.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it all goes well this time. I hope we get good neighbors too but we'll see.
DeleteThank you for your kind words about our sweet Zoe, we appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I know how hard that can be.
DeleteHopefully the new neighbors will be acceptable and not trouble makers. All the best to Ken, hope he gets good results from the biopsy and the treatment he needs.
ReplyDeleteI hope they start treatment soon too. Hopefully anyone that moves in next door will be quiet.
DeleteHoping for good news, and good new neighbors
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteWishing you good results for Ken and decent, quiet neighbors!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThose who put graphiti on walls need to have their fingers cut off :)
ReplyDeleteI wish.
DeleteGood luck to Ken on his procedure! And that's sorry about the graffiti. Too bad people have to do that. Hoping that any new tenants you get in your area are good people too and not a problem. Take care this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHope you get some good people moving in!

I hope so too.
DeleteIt's sad people have to be thrown out for not paying the rent when presumably they just don't have the money. That can only mean a big increase in the numbers of homeless.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the lung biopsy and getting some treatment started.
I think there is going to be an increase in the homeless after the evictions.
DeleteI wish apartment owners could come up with a better plan to help renters. They need their money, of course, to pay their bills, but perhaps some could adjust the rates while things are bad.
ReplyDeleteThat's why the moratorium went into effect for three months and you didn't have to pay rent. But now all that back rent money is due and people are struggling.
