Favorite Picture of the Week/Skywatch

While outside with Falcor one day last month I saw this, I don't even know what to call it...wall of cloud. My picture doesn't even show how long it was. It went so far to the left that only the mountain range that way obscured it.

The thing is, this is a more accurate picture of what I saw. These clouds were gigantic! They went from the ground behind the mountains there to where they stopped higher up. I just found it creepy cool.

A few days later we had some rainy days and the clouds were dark.

I love these cold, dark, overcast days.

  1. The cloud wall in the first two pictures looks almost like an oncoming giant wave. Almost scary.

The cool overcast days must be a relief after the heat and glare of summer.

  4. I’ve seen a wall cloud like that just a few times and it’s amazing. It looked like mountains to me, which we have none of here, so it was cool!

  5. Hi, Mary!

Having you as a friend is like being best buds with Wednesday Addams! :) I love how you see beauty and find comfort in dark, cloudy and rainy days. So do I! One of the most meaningful and memorable experiences I ever had took place while vacationing at the seashore. One full day was a complete wash-out - torrential rain from sunup to sundown. The relentless rain prevented me from doing the typical beach and boardwalk activities I was looking forward to. Forced to sit and watch the rain pelting down, I was at first bitterly disappointed. However, after a while, I gave in to it and started to groove on it. My senses came alive. I started noticing birds feeding at the water's edge, enjoying the rainy day. I welcomed the chance to slow down the pace of life and spend hours observing, reflecting and meditating. The rain had a cleansing effect on me that day 40 years ago. I will always remember it and be grateful for it.

That cloud deck is spectacular, and I'm glad your area got some moisture.

Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Mary!

  20. We have lots of cloudy rainy days but they are each different and show their own moods, dark, light. Sometimes we have to plan our day in between showers to get to the store without getting soaked. :) Enjoy the weekend.
