Apartment Life #308

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

This car pulled up and set out a lamp, and a couple of other things that were all broken and was obvious it came from someone's trash. They taped a sign to a post that said, "Sidewalk Sale".

But what they were really doing was selling drugs from the back of the car. And somehow people knew it. People kept pulling up to the car, and buying something small from the guy that was sitting in the back. People would ride up on bicycles or walk up and buy something from the guy sitting in the back of the car. They stayed for a couple of hours and left. The lamp and other things they had sitting out all went in our garbage can.

I was out walking Falcor and noticed two ambulances in the parking lot of the grocery store next door to me. I saw someone come out of one of the stores on a stretcher and the ambulance rode off. Then this ambulance that was farther away pulled up closer to the front of the store but they just sat there.

I don't know if anyone else was taken to the hospital. I know the pictures are awful because I took it with my phone. But you get the idea.

The high this week was 109F/42C
The low this week was 77F/25C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. I hate to say it, but that was an ingenious idea the drug sellers had - and word obviously took no time at all to get out.

    1. It was smart for them to do because unless you really see what's going on in the back of the car, you wouldn't think anything of it.

  2. Maybe the second ambulance was waiting for someone so badly injured as to need a lot of preparation before even being loaded into the ambulance? Or perhaps the person it was waiting for died? It might have been a fight between the two people that ended with one of them getting shot.

    1. That could have happened. I didn't see any police though. So I have no idea.

  3. Hi, Mary!

109 degrees! That's a sizzling hot temperature, dear friend. I'm sorry for all who must work or live outdoors in such misery. Does Falcor mind the searing heat when you walk him? Do the hot sidewalks bother his feet?

That sidewalk sale/drug peddling scheme is a clever racket. They never run out of items to sell because they can simply go dumpster diving when they need wares to display. By the way, I could use a couple of whimsical garden gnomes. Will you keep an eye out and buy them for me if they become available over there at the wall? I'll gladly reimburse you and provide a shipping address. :)

Have a safe and happy week, dear friend Mary!

    1. It's definitely heating up.
I take Falcor for a long walk at 6am when it's not as hot. During the day we stay in my courtyard where everything is under shade. Then once the sun goes down I take him for another longer walk. I've done it like this for 7 years and never had a problem with his feet. Our sidewalks are made of something that doesn't get hot like asphalt does though too. I can walk on them barefoot and not get burned.

  4. Drug affairs don't end well neither for the seller nor for the buyer.Soner or later the police gets involved and ambulances needed.

  5. No cops for the guy selling drugs?

  6. Well, that might have been a good time for a patrol car to go by.

  7. Wow, that's a interesting scheme. I've been learning my fair share about the drug trade due to all the ride-shares I've given. One guy was like ask the homeless where the drugs are and they'll tell ya.

    1. Absolutely. All the homeless people around here know the drug dealer in my courtyard.

  8. I've seen dealers do similar things. It's quite smart, most people won't look twice.

  9. Yes, how did people know drugs were being sold there? Perhaps some sort of telephone tree....

    1. Maybe he's done this on other streets? So maybe people recognized his car. I have no idea.

  10. I would guess to have a so called side walk sale, one would have to get a permit. My guess they didn't have one.

    1. No one gets a permit to have a garage sale or sidewalk sale that I've ever heard of.

  19. Every time I see someone being taken away in an ambulance I always wonder why. The second one just sitting there was odd though. 🤔
