Favorite Picture of the Week

Ever wonder what it's like to have a hairless rat? Flower's cage is right next to the table I have my laptop on so when she wants to come out I open the cage door and she walks out onto my table. First thing she does is dive bomb my shirt for a cuddle.

Here's the bottom level of her cage with the cage door down. She will walk out onto the table and come over to see what I'm doing and then dive bomb my shirt. When she's done getting a few cuddles she'll go explore the table and if I've left any paper lying around, she'll snatch it and drag it back to her cage and then come back to see what other trouble she can get into.

  1. Flower's so cute.

Our boys' cage is up in our spare bedroom but we have a hamster cage that we put them in to bring them downstairs so they have somewhere to go when they want the loo or to settle. On Friday I had the small cage on my table and sat there reading my knitting magazine with them. :-)

  5. I like how she can walk from her cage to the table. Our rat cage was so large they couldn't do that, we always planned to make along plank so they could walk from their cage to the couch, but we never got around to doing that. Smarties had learned to wait in front of the cage as sign she wanted out, she was so smart.

Our rats loved to snuggle in my shirt as well, they always were looking for safe places to hide or nap. Rats sure love to pull pieces of paper around. I always thought hairless rats were a bit weird, but since seeing so many pictures of Flower I've gotten more used to the idea of hairless rats, although I think I still prefer them with fur.

    1. I rescued her and Scribbles from the same lady when they were 6 months old. The lady had bought them for her niece and nephew who moved in with her but only stayed a few week and then moved out. Then she had no time for them after that and wanted to get rid of them. They were not socialized at all and Flower used to bite me all the time. They were scared and timid and I was so mad that they had just been left in the cage like that. But thankfully I have them and they get played with every day.I never thought of having a hairless until I got her and she's just so sweet.

    2. They are so lucky you rescued them! They have a great home with you. That must've taken a lot of time and patience to socialize them. Flower really is a cutie and she changed my opinion about hairless rats, she's adorable!

  10. When we had hamsters, they were like that. It's funny what they will drag off and hide away. Cage cleaning can yield some interesting finds.
