My Experience with Avalon Organics Cleansing Milk

I sign up for and receive a lot of free samples of products that I've never used before. So every once in a while there are products that I don't like, or that don't react well for me. This was one of those times. Last month I decided to use this sample pack of Avalon Organics Intense Defense Cleansing Milk.

With face cleansers, I like to try them at night when I take a shower. So that's what I did with this product. I opened the packet and rubbed the product on my face, but right away I knew something was wrong. My face started burning within a few seconds so I rinsed my face off right away. I finished my shower and when I got out, I looked in the mirror and realized that my face was bright red.

Excuse my just out of the shower appearance but this is what it did to my face and it felt like I had a bad sunburn on my face. The redness lasted about 18 hours and finally went away completely. I applied Cortisone to my face and that did seem to help the redness go away. It actually looked much redder in person but I think the flash on the camera got rid of some of it in the photo.

I found the website to the company and I sent them an email and let them know what it did to my face and this is the reply I got....

It burned my face but please send me coupons for more of your products. Maybe I can irritate other parts of my body. Do you have an intimate shave gel that I can apply to my girly bits? Maybe I can make my hoohaw scream for mercy. Obviously their product has something in it that didn't react well with my skin. This is the first time that I've had this bad of an reaction to a free sample that I tried and while it won't make me stop trying the free samples I get, I might be a little more cautious with samples from brands that I haven't tried before.

The other thing I want to say is while the full size package might list all the ingredients on it like they said in their reply, the sample packet that I used, clearly did not.

And they did actually send the coupons they said they would but what kind of Goober would I be if I tried more products from a brand that clearly reacts bad with my skin. This is one set of coupons that I won't be using.

    1. I think the reply was mostly part form letter they send to anyone who has a complaint. Thankfully the bad results did go away.

    1. I know! What in the world made them think I wanted to try more of their products? I didn't like it the first time but hey, lets send her coupons for more.

  4. Oh my gosh. When you hear the words "organic" and "milk" you don't think anything like this would happen.

Companies are annoying. They always offer coupons to dissatisfied customers. I don't know why they think that is appropriate.

    1. It was insulting. Like coupons are gonna make it better. No thanks.

  5. I'm glad it wasn't worse, but that is still a bad experience so coupons for more makes no sense. Kind of insulting, really.

  6. Oh my! The first thing I thought is why would anyone put milk on their face, wouldn't it clog your pores? That's terrible.

    1. Not really a milk just a white cream to clean your face. I don't know why they call it milk.

  7. Yikes! One of the things I love about the bloggers I follow is that they tell the truth about books and products with no hesitation. This practice saves someone from getting sick or purchasing a book that won't work well with our reading habits. I am so sorry this happened and glad it all cleared up. Hugs...😀

    1. Oh definitely. If I have a problem with a product, I saw so. If I don't care for a book, I also say so.

    1. True, and I looked on Amazon afterwards and saw that others had written reviews saying they had the same experience so the company knows this might happen.

  9. Oh jeez, yeah, like you'd want to buy more of their products. And that is lame that the ingredient aren't listed. It would be nice to know what might have caused it.

    1. It's listed on the bigger bottles but not on the samples. I'll be staying away from this stuff for sure.

    1. Oh it was not good at all. I'm glad it went away too but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

  14. Oh that doesn't look good at all, looks painful. It sure seems like something in that doesn't work well with your skin.
It is nice of the to send coupons, but then how would you know that whatever went wrong with the first wouldn't go wrong there. I can understand why you wouldn't be using those coupons, maybe you can give them to someone else. Sorry that happened to you!
