Favorite Video of the Week

I don't know if most of you are Linkin Park fans but after Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, killed himself last month and it got a lot of people thinking about the lyrics of most of his songs. There's so much pain in most of them and this song which is one of his last new songs, really hit home with a lot of people. Anyone who has suffered with depression probably understands the words to this song very well. I know it hit home for me the first time I heard it because I've been in that dark place more times than I like to admit. I feel really sad that he saw suicide as his only way to get rid of the pain he was in. RIP Chester

  2. I remember thinking that the first time when I listened to their music that it was melancholy. Music does reflect so much that is going on inside a person.

  3. Depression is a very sneaky disease. So hard to treat and so difficult for people who suffer from it. I've never listened to any of their music.

  5. Sometimes there sure is a lot more there behind the words than many realize. Sucks it came to that for him indeed.

    1. That's very true but another famous person committing suicide does bring the problem to the surface.

  7. That certainly seemed to come out of nowhere when the news broke

  8. I'm sad to say I wasn't surprised when it happened. Perhaps its because of my own stuff, but I noticed more than a few songs and interviews that had too much weight to them and I had been worried it would happen for a few years before hand. :/

With that said, to any who read this, please don't take your own life. It's all you have and once it's gone, you're gone. If you are truly to the point of wanting to escape reality, wanting to just run away and make it all stop, than accept you are truly free and move on to do anything BUT. I beg you.

    2. That's very true. It's hard to think about anything else when you're that down and depressed so I understand what causes someone to think it's the only way out of the pain they're in.

  9. Such a tragedy. This man had such a soulful voice that allowed him to share his pain through his lyrics. Depression is sadly still swept under the carpet, and Mary, I always pray that things are well with you. I truly love your beauty, wisdom and talent. Hugs...RO

    1. Depression is swept under the rug and it's sad because it's something that a lot of people deal with on a daily basis. I'm doing good though, thank you.

  10. Why is everything so heavy? I can tell you why, friend dark thoughts ... every morning I cum home from a long nite's work I meet peeps on the street looking at their cell phones instead of smiling and saying good morning. Ya ... Anyway. Love, cat.

  11. One of my faves. I still use an iPod and I have more LP songs than anything else. I've not suffered from depression, so it's hard to understand why someone who looked like he had it all (on the outside) could want it to end. Which goes to show that it really has nothing to do with success, etc. So sad, esp, on the heels of Chris Cornell. RIP

    1. And that's just it. having money and success doesn't change the way you think and he even said so in an interview. He said his head was so messed up that you wouldn't want to be in here *he pointed to his head*. Looking back it seems there were so many signs he was seriously depressed.

  12. I was a huge fan and a regular listener go their songs when I was in college but I hadn't listened to any of their songs lately before his passing. Yes, there are a lot of pains in his songs. Maybe he had been trying to send some messages about what he was feeling through his musics. RIP.

  14. I was sorry to read of his passing, but Linkin Park is not my first choice of music!

Sending my good wishes for the weekend.

    All the best Jan

  15. It was a good song. I'm not really familiar with their stuff. The thing is that I spend a lot of time listening to The Beatles. I shouldn't listen to any of their stuff really. I don't know why I do it. Two of The Beatles are dead and the other two are in their 70s. It's terrible that the Linkin Park Singer took his own life. It couldn't have been THAT bad.

  17. There's another song that I love by Missio called Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea and I think everyone's first impulse is to think all songs are about romance, as I did with this song, and then I heard an interview and the singer said it was about drug addiction and now that I know - whoa.

It's sad that he was obviously expressing his pain in his music but couldn't get the help he needed.

Depression is a very difficult thing to deal with.

  20. So sad. I think we're much more open these days to accepting that depression is an incredibly tough disease to deal with and to treat. One of our big rugby stars came out about his depression and health issues, and it has made everyone more aware in our country. I hope things like this lead to help for the people who need it.
