Apartment Life #21

This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.

July 11, 2016 Ken called the office to let them know someone just broke into a vacant apartment. The maintenance man shows up and finds a man sleeping in the apartment and tells him he's calling the police. The guy leaves out the back window and isn't there when the police get here a few minutes later. Ken went outside to let them know that homeless people have been breaking in through the window every night for 2 weeks to spend the night and the manager hasn't fixed the broken windows.

They finally fixed the windows and the homeless people stopped breaking into the apartment. But they started breaking into other apartments during the weekends when there's no manager on the property. The maintenance man finally figure out how to keep the vacant apartments secure and they stopped getting broken into but it took much longer than it should have to fix the problem.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. I didn't realize that was going on with apartments. I've seen it happen with empty rental or sales houses and duplexes, but never figured apartments had that trouble, too. Glad they got it sorted finally.

    Happy Easter, Mary!

    1. Yeah, if someone knows that the apartments are empty they just break in and sty the weekend.

  2. Seems to always be the way, takes a long arse time for them to fix anything. Never heard of homeless sneaking into apartments here, sure they do though.

    1. It was bad here for a while because no one was here over the weekend and they all knew it.

    1. It is. Most of the people that were hanging around here have left.

  5. wow that's terrific because it means that they take a look at everything to see that nobody is here

  6. It's just crazy. I knew, like Sophia, it happened to vacant houses often. Glad they *finally* got it fixed. Man they are feet drag-ers aren't they?

    1. They really are. We have a different manager now but she never leaves to office to even take a look at the property. Things are a mess.

  8. Yeesh crazy! Safety issue too. I bet the cops get so annoyed when they respond to this stuff and property managers/ owners never fix the frickin problem.

  9. Wow! There is never a dull day in your apartment complex. My husband saw someone breaking into the house across the street once and called the cops. Turns out it was teens that were meeting the kid who lived there but didn't have a key.

  11. I am sure it would be much easier to fix the window than have homeless people squatting in the apartments.

  12. I can only imagine what the cops think every time they get a call regarding your complex.
