Favorite Picture of the Week

I had planned to just show the cover of this magazine that Ken found at one of the Marijuana Dispensaries he went to last week because I thought it was fun that they added a coloring page to it and a few on the inside.

Most of you know that here in Las Vegas, marijuana is now legal to buy and use for recreational use as long as you are 21 years of age and have a legal ID. So I thought, instead of just showing this magazine, how about an informational post about a few of the things I know about the dispensaries and what you can now buy.

I do not now, or have I ever smoked marijuana nor do I ever plan to but Ken does on occasion and that's how I got the products for these pictures that I took. I'm not an advocate for marijuana use but I don't care what someone does in their own home.

If you live in a place that doesn't have legalized marijuana then I thought that it might be interesting to read your reactions to what someone might buy where it is legal. There are a lot of products available at the dispensaries including the pre-rolls, buds and edibles but I'll only be talking about the pre-rolls since that's what I was able to take pictures of.

This is what Ken and his friends usually buy, it's called a pre-roll. They are $12 for each pre-roll and he usually buys one or two a month. They come pre-rolled and looks like a mini cigar and I've been told you can smoke it like that or you can empty this out and smoke it in a glass marijuana pipe. Most people who I've seen buy these dump them out and use the pipes.

A pipe like this or others.

The marijuana you buy at the dispensary is given to you in a sealed bag so you can legally transport it home. So even if you get pulled over by the cops for some reason, as long as you haven't torn the package open, it's legal to have in your car. On the back of the envelope it comes in, are a bunch of facts about the marijuana you just bought including, the strain, weight, THC level, date it was harvested, what laboratory tested it, and where you bought it.

Ken just found out that Veterans get a 15% discount so the last time he went in he took his DD214 and they put it in his file, so from now on that discount automatically gets applied if he buys something.

When you go to the dispensary it's just a shop like any other business. When you go in, you check in with the security guard and then wait in line to tell them what you want to buy. They then take the product over to the cashier where you pay for it. They only take cash, no debit, checks or credit cards. At least the ones here. Then they place your products in the bag, seal it and give it to you. If you have a medical marijuana card, you get to go to the front of all the lines. Medical marijuana patients get priority in most of the dispensaries.

Just like alcohol it is still illegal to drive while under the influence. So if you get pulled over and tested for marijuana and have more in your system than is legally allowed, you can get a DUI ticket. I do not know right now what the legal limit for marijuana is.

What do you think about some states legalizing marijuana?

  1. If they do it like this then sure. Some do need it for chronic pains and likes. And just like alcohol it can be bad for you if you do things you should not. It all depends on the person cos humans are pretty stupid

    1. I have a feeling that it's going to be legal in more places than it's not soon. Anything if done too much of can be bad for you.

That's the case throughout the US. Since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, banks don't want to do business with marijuana businesses.

Here in Oregon we legalized recreational marijuana in a referendum in 2014. Today marijuana shops are very common in Portland. As far as I know it hasn't created anything like the huge problems that cigarettes and alcohol do. Banning marijuana is as silly as it is ineffective. Such laws need to go the way of Prohibition.

    1. Ah yes, that makes sense. I think in the years to come it's going to be legal in a lot more states.

  4. Keeping it under control like that isn't bad. It is no worse for one than alcohol, but that doesn't make either good for you. They are legalizing it everywhere up here. Can't wait for the pot heads to stroll along and puff smoke in everyone's faces, ugg.

    1. I really haven't heard about people smoking it out in the open since it's been legalized here. Most people just stay home and smoke it. Because that's where their snacks are. lol

  5. Wow! So interesting! I thought maybe the cash thing was for citizen privacy, but I read the comment above. Lol on the coloring book! I'm surprised some group isn't up in arms about that because it could be seen as promoting to children.

    1. With all the adult coloring books available now with cuss words in them just for adults, I don't think anyone is going to say anything about this. lol

  7. Even though I'm like you and have never used marijuana, I sort of like the coloring book. (lol) You've shared some great info too! Hugs...RO

  8. It's not legal in our state but it is legal in the state's that surround us. I don't understand why it isn't legal in more states. We have a HUGELY disturbing opiod problem in my state, they're calling it an epidemic, but yet marijuana still illegal. So many that suffer from chronic pain would be helped without opiods if marijuana was an option. I just don't get it :(

  9. I like that they treat it like alcohol. We don't smoke, but I think it should be legal everywhere. Especially for medicinal purposes.

  10. The artwork is something I've seen before. I didn't know they did a coloring book. I'm fine with medicinal mj, have some issues with recreational but hope those things get worked out. Yep, it's legal here. :)

    1. I figure people are going to get it and smoke it whether it's legal or not and we just don't hear a lot of about people doing violent things while on it so may as well make it legal.

  11. I wish Indiana would legalize it. I thought about purchasing some when we were in Vegas last summer just to see how it would affect my ulerative colitis, but since my girls were with me, I passed. The only time I saw people out and about smoking it freely was on the Vegas Strip after 8pm. It wasn't all up in our faces 24/7.

  12. Interesting. I know that a lot of states have legalized it but Missouri is usually behind everyone else. I wouldn't buy any but I think that people might be more likely to be safe with it if there are some rules.

    1. So far I haven't heard a lot of about any bad effects from it being legalized here.

  13. I didn't know that about Vegas

  14. I wish the entire country would legalize pot. I think it would help reduce prison populations, quit wasting cops time and reduce opioid use. I've never tried it and really have no desire to smoke it. I might try something like cannabis oil, which doesn't get you high, but seems to help with pain.

    1. I've never tried it either but but alcohol is legal and that's much worst so why not legalize this. But I think it will be legal everywhere soon.

  15. Very interesting! It is still illegal here in GA, otherwise I would probably use it occasionally for anxiety.
