Favorite Photo of the Week

We tried something new. A couple of months ago Ken picked up some purple potatoes. We'd never had them before, so I was excited to try them. I made mashed potatoes with them. This is what they look like on the inside before cooking them.

I made mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, sauteed carrots and smoked pork chops. The purple potatoes taste just like regular potatoes if you're wondering, but they're purple. It made for a colorful plate of food. Oh and smoked pork chops taste just like baked ham.

  7. I'm surprised most have not seen them. We've had them a number of times and even picked some at a local farm once (they till the ground for you). I think they taste like red potatoes. I still prefer plain old Idaho potatoes.

  17. My hubby LOVES purple potatoes. He grows them every year in a trash can in layers, harvesting a bit at a time. I don't love them, I thought they tasted strange, but it's probably that they LOOK weird which makes my brain think they're odd somehow.

  18. Purple potatoes? Fun! I wonder if they have any more nutritional value. I stuck a couple of potatoes that were old and growing roots into the ground a couple of months ago and now they're growing like mad. I guess that's not the proper way to grow potatoes, but still, it's working. We'll see how it turns out. :)
