Recipe: Snickerdoodle Cookies

Snickerdoodle Recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon

For Cinnamon/Sugar Coating:
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix the oil, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon, then mix everything together to form the dough.

Form the dough into 2 inch balls and roll each ball in the cinnamon/sugar coating.
Place cookies a few inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet, flattening them slightly if desired.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until slightly brown on the bottom. Do not overcook them or they will be really hard.

I know a lot of recipes call for Cream of Tartar but I don't like that taste or tanginess so I omit it.

  6. They’re my middle child’s favorite! I hated them as a kid, but now I don’t think they’re so bad. Not sure why!

  13. What is cream of Tartar? I heard about it often, but we don't have it here. We have Tartar cream but that is a type of mayo sauce LOL

    1. It's a powder that stabilizes whipped eggs whites and is used for other baking recipes. But I don't like the weird taste of it so I don't use it.

  15. I have never been a big snickerdoodle fan, but my oldest just told me she loves them, so I'll be saving this recipe to make her cookies this Christmas. I also don't love cream of tarter, so this sounds like the perfect recipe to try!
