Apartment Life #305

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

This chain link fence separates my apartment building from the public sidewalk to the right. Cars are not supposed to drive on that sidewalk but they do in order to get from our street to the parking lot of the grocery store next door. Well one of the cars driving by ran over the fence and now it's down. It's City property so I doubt it will get fixed anytime soon.

It's a pretty large section of the fence that's now laying down on the sidewalk.

I haven't seen anymore cars trying to drive on this sidewalk though. There was barely enough room before and now with the fence fallen over into the sidewalk, there's no room for a car to drive here unless they drive over the fence. I wouldn't take the chance of that. And for those that are new here, that wall is the sound wall. Directly on the other side of that wall is the freeway and the wall is supposed to keep the noise down from it. The wall is 30-40 feet tall, I'm not sure exactly how tall it is but it's big.

The police showed up last Thursday night but I didn't post it last week since my post was already so picture heavy. The police were at drug dealer's apartment and had everyone there out in handcuffs.

The police were yelling for Jessica to come out. Yes, the same Jessica that I've had on my Sunday post before. But she must have slipped out the bedroom window because they didn't get her.

My daughter took these videos. She and a few other residents were sitting outside watching the whole thing unfold.

My daughter said the police were down there for a long time.

A bunch of cops showed up for this one and had a bunch of people in handcuffs.

People around here refer to that apartment as drug dealer's apartment because it's more than a little obvious that they are dealing drugs out of there. People come all hours of the day and night, stay for a few seconds and leave. And it's mostly tweakers and homeless people that hang out down there. But on this day, no one was arrested. They must not have found any drugs that night which really surprises me. Maybe Jessica took them with her when she escaped out the back bedroom window. Who knows.

In other news the roofer's have finished and they put the gutters back on.

The high this week was 102F/38C
The low this week was 66F/18C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

    Like in the movies 😂.

The only thing your neighbourhood was missing was a broken fence...that car must have been in an awful hurry LOL. Well, at least they fixed the gutters...

Hopefully those they took away in cuffs don't come back anytime soon.

  5. Hi, Mary!

It's a safe bet that a drunk driver mowed down that section of fence. The heavily damaged fence is an eyesore and a hazard for good folks like you trying to walk their Falcors.

Almost nightly, you and your daughter have a ringside seat as episodes of "Vegas 9-1-1" play out on your block. Is there any chance you are misinterpreting what you see? Maybe it isn't a drug dealer's apartment after all. Maybe the guy is an ordained minister and operating a quickie wedding chapel. :) . That Jessica is a doozy. "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" and slipped out through the bedroom window. :)

I see your temps have now reached triple digits, bringing added misery to those living on the street.

I wish you, your daughter and my buddy Falcor a safe and happy week, dear friend Mary!

  7. Drugs is never an easy issue. Glad that there's programs like DARE to keep kids off drugs.

  8. Who needs streets? Sidewalks, trails, paths all work for cars? Wow! So weird!

  12. Too bad they didn't find the drugs so they can get the dealer out of there, make things better for other residents. I had to laugh at the idea of Jessica bailing out the window. She's a slippery character. Maybe there's a hidden wall in the unit where Jessica and the drugs are hidden.

  18. They seemed to have plowed right through the fence. I am sure the cops need to come in force when they go to that apartment. No telling what they will run into.

  19. Who drives over a fence? Geesh!

  20. The chain link fence doesn't look very sturdy in the first place. I guess it wouldn't take much to pull it down.

    1. it was very sturdy. It's been up for over 12 years and never had a problem until now. The posts were cemented into the ground and help the fence up. Some car took out several of the posts.

  21. What a mess! Why would someone drive on a sidewalk. It is a shame that the police can't do more.

    1. Cars drove through this alley because it's a short cut to get from the street to the parking lot of the grocery store without having to go all the way around the block.

  22. Glad the roofers finished - hopefully everything will stay put now.

I guess the fence being down has one advantage - no more cars? But UGH! That's awful.
