Happy Raturday!
This was my rat, Lucky. He only had 3 legs and a friend of my daughter who worked at the pet store called and asked if I would be willing to take him because they were going to euthanize him because they said he was not sellable because of his disability. He lived to be almost 4 years old. He was super cute.
Just look at Lucky's face. How could I say no to that face? He was very friendly.
This was Fang, another of the rats I had over the years. I got him from my daughters friend who could no longer take care of him and his 3 cage mates. I took all 4 of them. Fang was a biter though. He bite my late husband Ken a few times but he never bit me. He and Ken made friends though over time. Because Ken would feed him some of his food all the time. Fang liked to hang over his hammock like this and just stare at me. After he got used to me, he just wanted me to hold him all the time. He was such a goofball.

Gorgeous rats :-D Glad you could take them and give them a good home. Good memories :-D
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have rats, I think the are amazing but I have 6 cats so I donno how practical it would be.
Probably not with a bunch of cats. lol
DeleteSometimes pets just need human interaction and love. Because often people forget to do that.
ReplyDeleteYes, they sure do.
DeleteThat is a shame about the one with only three legs but it turns out that he was a very lucky rat. He got a happy home with you. And so did the others. They're little so they would be fun to hold in your hands I am sure.
ReplyDeleteHis missing leg didn't slow him down one bit.
DeleteThey are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteOur shared cast with daughter had one deformed paw, but he was a gem of a cat.
ReplyDeleteThey don't let things like that slow them down.
DeleteI'm glad Lucky had a good life and wasn't euthanased. Lucky indeed!
ReplyDeleteHe was Lucky.
DeleteAww
ReplyDeleteEvery time you tell Lucky's story I get furious at the people who wouldn't adopt him and would rather let him die. That picture of Fang is so funny, and he looks beautiful! I remember you talking about his feud with Ken before LOL - for him to be willing to win the little biter over, he must have been a very sweet man.
ReplyDeletePetsmart is awful to their animals. I heard horror stories from the lady who worked there that we got Lucky from. Ken just shared his food with Fang and won him over.
DeleteWe had visiting rats in my library for a few weeks. The parent of a girl at my school worked at the University of Houston lab and she shared a couple of the former lab rats with us at the end of school one year. Smart little fellows!
ReplyDeleteThey are very smart little animals.
DeleteWe often forget how emotionally intelligent these creatures are. I'm so happy you were able to give Lucky a loving home!
ReplyDeleteI am too.
DeleteThat is good that you gave Lucky a home. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThey were sure cuties!
ReplyDeleteRats are such sweet little animals.
DeleteI'm glad there are people like you to take care of the rats like Lucky.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteIt sounds like you provided your pets a wonderful life.
ReplyDeleteI sure tried.
DeleteAfter pet sitting our neighbor's rats, I've learned to appreciate what a sweet pet they can be. Love that you took in Lucky, Fang, and the gang.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found out how sweet they are.
DeleteHappy Raturday
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteAdorable rats.
ReplyDeleteWho needs four legs when three will do. :) Wonderful that you gave Lucky a nice home.
ReplyDeleteLucky was super cute...and so lucky to have you in his life. :D
ReplyDeleteSo good that you gave Lucky a nice home ... lovely photographs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
You gave them all so much love.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteSad that they were going to euthanize Lucky just because he was missing a leg. That's just wrong.
ReplyDeleteThey are cute :)
