Apartment Life #418
This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
Life Update:
I'm almost 100% back to normal. I've been working out my arms and shoulders with 5lb weights. It helped.
My daughter saw her Rheumatologist, and he said the Lupus medication she's on is not enough, so they are going to have her come in for infusions of that medication every week now. He said that should help with the pain she's in but she still needs to see pain management when she finally gets the referral. (Still waiting on that) The usually give steroids for Lupus but because she also has Congestive Heart Failure, she can't take high doses of steroids because it can cause fluid buildup around the heart. She's still in pain but hanging in there.

While this place may be a dumpster fire, we had an actual dumpster fire!
Monday evening I was out walking Falcor and smelled smoke. So I went and looked in our alley and sure enough the dumpster was on fire again. I took 2 quick pictures, knocked on my neighbors door because hers is the red car right next to the dumpster but she wasn't home, so I went inside and called 911 and had my daughter call the neighbor.
I knew they'd get here pretty fast.
And they did.
They got the fire out pretty fast.
At least they got it out without it spreading anywhere.
Here's a video of the fire department getting here and putting the fire out. My daughter felt good enough to come stand out there and watch the firemen for a few minutes.
---
Earlier on Monday the police were across the street for a domestic disturbance. 2 people were fighting in that apartment complex where the police cars are parked. No one was taken to jail though.
---
Friday evening, I heard the police helicopter up and went outside to see if anything was going on down my street. Of course there was. 5 cop cars, including a white undercover police car were parked on both sides of the street.
I saw 5 of the police officers come out as I walked down to get pictures. Didn't look like anyone was getting arrested as they all left soon after. No idea what such a big damn deal was to have the police helicopter, 5 police cars including an undercover car, show up when no one was arrested.
----
Since you guys liked the Oleander bushes at my apartment building, I took a picture of the bigger Oleander bush across the street. It's as tall as the 2-story house behind it. This one doesn't get trimmed at all and has been growing for years. This bush is huge and I love it.
The high this week was 87F/30C
The low this week was 56F/13C
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Glad to hear you're recovering and they're working on getting your daughter better treatment. Good thinking trying to warn the owner of the endangered car.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the police were looking for your neighbors to arrest them for failure to trim their oleander bush.
lol I don't know. Hopefully things get better soon for my daughter.
DeleteThat could have been a real disaster for the lady to have lost her red car if that fire would have gotten out of control. And What racket that must have been to have a helicopter and five cops on the street and then they all calmly just drive away. Like nothing ever was wrong, lol. And yes I love seeing this huge bush with these white flowers on it, thanks. Good luck to your daughter with medication.
ReplyDeleteYeah it could have been. Thank you.
DeleteHope that referral comes soon! Start pestering them every day for it.
ReplyDeleteAppropriate you had a dumpster fire!
And that is one big bush...
That's exactly what I told her to do. Right? Hopefully no more dumpster fires
DeleteNever a dull moment, it seems.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sure seems that way.
DeleteIt's always something, isn't it? But the good news is that your daughter is getting some help for her lupus. As a Mom that must make you happy but it's still frightening. Hope the referral comes soon. And that oleander tree is also quite beautiful.Have a great rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that someone is moving along to get her more help. Thank you.
DeleteI'm glad to hear you're feeling better at last. I sure hope your daughter gets the referral to the pain clinic soon. In the meanwhile, I hope the extra infusions help.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope the infusion helps too.
Deleteso glad she is getting weekly infusions, I hope the pain management referral comes in quickly. I'm glad you are almost 100% such good news!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope so too.
DeleteThanks for the health update glad you are better. Fantastic bush!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGlad to hear you daughter is starting to receive the right kind of help and feeling a tad better - now if only that referral would get a move on...
ReplyDeleteLOL @ the dumpster fire comment.
"No idea what such a big damn deal was to have the police helicopter, 5 police cars including an undercover car, show up when no one was arrested."
Right? Maybe they got a fake tip-off.
That oleander is beautiful. I hope no one is going to axe it in the near future...
Dumpster fire was so appropriate for this place.
DeleteMaybe they did.
Thank goodness for the emergency services. Fire fighters are brave - they never know what they're going to face.
ReplyDeleteThat's true.
DeleteYay for the good health updates! Hope your daughter gets more relief soon. Wow, that fire could have been a disaster ~ good for you to report it so it was taken care of quickly. Your neighborhood is a trip!
ReplyDeleteMy neighborhood is always crazy it seems.
DeleteIt was fortunate you saw that fire when you did or it might have damaged your neighbor's car. And fingers crossed the infusion helps your daughter!
ReplyDeleteI'm out all hours of the day and night with the dog and see a lot.
DeleteGlad your daughter is finally getting some help. I love the Oleander. It's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope the infusions help. That huge oleander is so pretty.
DeleteLucky for the owner the red car wasn't damaged by the dumpster fire. Some people just enjoy setting things on fire I guess.
ReplyDeleteI guess they do.
DeleteI hope your da. ughter's pain referral gets approved soon. Why does it take so long?? (just asking the universe in general) I feel for the neighbor with the red car; I'm assuming all the parking spots are assigned and you have to park in your assigned spot, even if the dumpster by it has been set on fire several times. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspt.com
ReplyDeleteThe first place they gave her a referral to didn't accept her insurance so they have to get her another one that does. No, there are no assigned parking, but she parks right in front of her bedroom window and she has a camera so she can see if anyone breaks into ehr car.
DeleteIt sounds like your daughter is finally getting some solutions and can hopefully be on the road to recovery! Thank goodness the fire dept came so quickly! Have a wonderful week, Mary!
ReplyDeleteYes, things are moving a little. Thanks.
DeleteYou really never know what will happen next at your place. I'm glad you are doing some better and I hope your daughter gets that referral soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's a surprise each week. Thank you.
DeleteYou had a literal dumpster fire... Great to have the pics as now you can make your very own memes ;)
ReplyDeletelmao That's true.
DeleteNever a dull moment. Our old neighbor's house was raided for drugs and it was in a 55 and over community
ReplyDeleteWow, you just never know what someone is doing.
DeleteIt's pleasing to read you are feeling nearly yourself and your daughter in on the right path it seems. I made a Lupas ribbon for the month of May, it's on my blog.
ReplyDeleteLucky about that red car being alright, thank goodness the fire truck came in time.
5 Police cars and a helicopter, goodness and no one was arrested...take care, Mary
Thank you. I will check it out.
DeleteJeez a lot going on Mary!
ReplyDeleteSending big hugs and prayers for your daughter. <3
There's always a lot going on.
DeleteThat bush is magnificent! It was so nice to hear your voice in the video, Mary. Take care!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
DeleteCannot even imagine living with constant pain!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear at least you are on the slow mend.
That bush is gorgeous and so massive, more of a tree. We currently have irises of all colours blooming before the heat hits us tomorrow when we will be 30C like you, but tonight it will be just 7C so I will sleep with open balcony to cool of the house as much as possible for tomorrow's hell as I still haven't prepared my AC for new summer season LOL I need to wash it and spray it with sanitizer. They say El Njino will feck us up this summer again.
I've had my AC on for weeks. Thankfully got a new one for the living room too. That bush is so pretty.
DeleteDumpster fire, of course
ReplyDeleteYep, of course.
DeleteMary, I am happy to hear you are better! I hate it when kids are sick. She must be grateful to have you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, it sucks that there's not much I can do.
DeleteMany thanks for your health updates.
ReplyDeletePleased that you are so much better now, and I do hope things get better soon for your daughter.
Sending good wishes across the miles.
All the best Jan
Thank you, I hope so too.
DeleteGlad tp hear that you are feeling better and that your daughter is on the right path to get her pain under control.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteYea for getting stronger and getting back to normal. I have been working on my shoulders and elbows and they are better, but I feel like I'll never return to what I once was. Glad your daughter is getting help - too bad it's moving so slowly.
ReplyDeleteThe dumpster fire made me chuckle. Glad it was put out quickly.
10 years ago I had a proximal humurus fracture. The ball part of your shoulder. I never got back my full range of motion from that.
