New USPS Mail Carrier Trucks

I'm sure most Americans recognize this mail carrier vehicle. These trucks have been around since 1986. Well recently I've been seeing the mail carrier driving around new vehicles...

*Picture from the Las Vegas Sun*

This is the new mail carrier vehicle that the mail carriers drive around in Las Vegas now.

According to Google when I searched it from the Las Vegas Sun article

"Yes, the mail carrier trucks in Las Vegas have changed. The USPS has introduced Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDVs), which feature modern conveniences such as air conditioning, 360-degree cameras, and automatic braking systems. These new trucks are part of a broader initiative to modernize the USPS fleet, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact."

The new vehicles are not in all 50 states yet, but they are slowly rolling out. Las Vegas apparently has the new ones. I was wondering why I was seeing the new vehicles, now I know and you do too.

This new van is an electric vehicle as well and this is what I've mostly been seeing the mail carriers driving around where I live the past couple of weeks.

Did you know about the new USPS electric vehicles?

    1. LOL I don't know. The new one 2nd picture looks funny but at least it has AC for them because before they didn't.

  4. When we first moved here 14 years ago our mail carrier drove their own personal car and got paid expenses for it. But a few years ago the post office could finally afford to buy some white vans. They still run off gasoline but it's better for the drivers not to have to buy a new car every 4 or 5 years.

  5. While I question whether the change was really necessary, I do think the AC was needed. Especially in your area!

  7. Nice! They deserve nicer vehicles, we don't have them here, yet. But with the way things are going, who knows if there will even be a USPS next year!

  8. Haven't seen them here in Utah yet. But they're a nice upgrade from the old ones.

  9. I'm glad they're electrifying the fleet. I had heard that some of those vehicles were barely holding together. And they didn't have air conditioning? Yikes.

    1. You can hear some of the old ones squeaking and hard to start.

  12. I've seen some of the new trucks. Anything that makes post carrier jobs easier has my vote. Air conditioning will be appreciated! Their job is difficult. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  14. It's nice that they are getting a/c. I always feel for the delivery people when it's hot.

  15. I saw one of those last week and said to myself what the heck? So used to seeing the old ones driving around and there are still a lot of those, but after reading this I guess we'll be seeing more and more of the updates ones. They certainly would be a more comfortable and safer ride for our mail carries. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  17. They look rather interesting, very different from the normal ones I'm used to seeing but a lot of electric vehicles are very different. They will cost a lot of money.

  19. Glad to hear they're making some upgrades! I feel bad for the mail carriers when it's really hot out, or really cold.

  20. I think a lot of the old vehicles were held together with duct tape and a prayer.
