Review: Tombox Monthly Subscription Box

I found out about this monthly subscription box when a FB friend posted a picture of what she received in her Tombox this month. So I looked the site up and decided to give it a try. Now it says that the boxes start at $10 a month but I went through the questions process and was told my box would be $16  month. Not sure how someone gets the box for $10 a month. But you can personalize the box and get even more stuff than this. I could have gotten double the make up for an additional $6 or a pack of disposable razors for an additional $12. I chose not to take advantage of either of those things.

I really think this is a great box for women because you get your choice of pads or tampons, jewelry and name brand make up. I know whatever I can't use or don't want, my daughter will gladly take. But this would also make a great present for someone.

This month I got a box of tampons, nail polish, sample of perfume, a braided head band, Hikari blush and a blush brush.

And after you sign up you get a referral link and when 3 people sign up for this monthly subscription box using your referral link, they send you a free box!

If you'd like to try this monthly subscription box out for yourself, you can find the site here

Freebie Friday!

Welcome to another edition of Freebie Friday, where I tell you what free samples and full sized products I received in the mail and how you can get them too. Someone asked me why I do a 'Freebie Friday" each week, so I'll tell you.

A while back I listed all the free samples and wins that I had received that previous year and so many people didn't believe that I could have gotten so many free things. So I decided to prove it by taking a picture every week and sharing the sites that I found the links to the freebies at. So now you too can get great free samples coming to your mailbox each week.

You can find links to samples like these at Hey It's Free and Freebie Shark.
Did you know you can sign up at Tomoson and get free products too. You can also sign up at these sites and get products at a great discount. No Kidding CouponsAMZ Review Trader, and Elite Deal Club.

A couple of weeks ago I received the email notice above. I didn't know what I had won, only that I won something from Influenster because I was a badge holder. You get to be a badge holder when you complete all the tasks they give you after sending you a free sample. Tasks like reviews, pictures and sharing pictures of what you got on social media.

So this week I got the box and here's what was in it.

I received 3 paper masks, 2 full size products and 21 mask samples.

Did you receive any freebies this week?

Review: As Twilight Falls by Amanda Ashley

Book Description
Photographing ghost towns across the American West, Kadie Andrews takes a wrong turn and ends up in Morgan Creek--a spot that isn't on the map. It's a quaint little place, but there's something off about its complacent residents. And when twilight falls, it takes on a truly sinister air. . .

Unable to run, or to find any way out, Kadie finds herself a prisoner, hunted for her blood. Still more disturbing, her spirit and beauty have captured the attention of master vampire Rylan Saintcrow. When he looks into her eyes, she can see his hunger. When he takes her in his arms, she can feel his power. When he presses his lips against hers, she can taste his need. Saintcrow may be the most compelling creature she's ever imagined, but Kadie knows in her heart that he is also a man. A man who needs a woman. To want him, desire him, crave him. To be his willing prisoner--for all eternity.. .

My Review
Oh dear, I do love a vampire romance book and I was already a huge fan of Amanda Ashley's books so when I saw this one I knew I had to read it and I'm so glad I did.

Kadie Andrews is a freelance writer and photographer who likes to visit and document ghost towns but when a wrong turn leads her into a small strange town where she finds herself stuck because there's no gas station or cell service, she finds herself in danger from Master Vampire, Rylan Saintcrow.

Rylan had been resting and healing underground for thirty years after being set on fire by hunters, but he awakens to the new scent of Kadie and he wants her too badly to stay underground any longer. He set up this town so that he and other vampires who wanted to be there could be safe from the vampire hunters, it was a safe haven for the vampires. But the humans that were there were virtually kidnapped and were never allowed to leave once they accidentally ventured into town. Serving only to be meals for the vampires who took up residence there.

I like book clubs so when Kadie is invited to a book club of sorts at the library and they start talking about Salem's Lot by Stephen King *one of my favorite books* I was giddy with excitement. Can you imagine sitting around a table in a new town and having the women tell you that, ' Oh by the way, this town is a lot like that book Salem's Lot because it's run by vampires!'. I'd either have a lot of questions or think every one of them was nuts. But it all starts to make sense to Kadie.

The vampires for the most part are nice, yes they take what they want and trap humans in this town to feed off them, but they are nice about it..for the most part. Of course there has to be that one or two that ruin it for everyone. The one thing I did feel bad about was the humans who got stuck in the town and had families that they never got to see again, especially people with little kids.

Rylan falls for Kadie, he falls hard. He's never met anyone like her and he does things for her that I never expected. There was passion and sex but it was more romantic sex than 'throw you down and make you scream-sex', which for this story really was a better fit. Rylan was surprisingly gentle, sweet and romantic for such an old vampire.

I loved the ending, I think it ended the way I would have thought a book like this would.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Review: Smartz Outlets Set of 12 Vintage Dish Towels

Product Description
These commercial grade 100% Cotton Dish towels are similar to those used in many restaurants and hotel kitchens and are perfect for the professional chef in every family. Highly absorbent with its unique herringbone design, this 100% cotton fast drying lower lint kitchen towel measures an impressive 30" X 20" and is larger than your standard Dish / terry towel. Super High Quality with Unique Herringbone Design - Drys Dishes / Glassware Faster Without Leaving Lint Superior Performance - Hemmed so Won't Shred Even After Many Washes & is Bleach Safe.

My Review
First let me just say that this set of dish towels came packaged in a nice box with tissue paper and twine. It's so nice that it would make a great gift box for someone. I don't know about anyone else but I go through a lot of dish towels and they get stains on them, so I was really glad to see that I can use bleach on these without worrying that they are going to fall apart. I've used these, washed and dried them several times and they still look as good as they did when I took them out of the box.

They are fast drying and absorbent. I don't really dry my dishes with them but I do use them for drying my hands and as a pot holder when I'm taking a hot pan out of the oven. Using these for drying my hands several times a day instead of using a paper towel is also saving me money since I don't go through as many paper towels. These towels are a nice large size, much bigger than the dish towels I've been buying and they don't shrink when washed.

If you'd like to buy these, you can find them here

Review: Mate Bond by Jennifer Ashley

Book Blurb
To cement the leadership of his North Carolina Shiftertown, Bowman O’Donnell agreed to a “mating of convenience.” Two powerful wolf shifters, he and Kenzie keep the pack in order and are adored by all. Bowman would do anything to protect Kenzie, for in each other’s arms they’ve found far more than friendship. But as strong as their attachment is, they still haven’t formed the elusive mate bond—the almost magical joining of true mates.

Now with a monster ravaging the countryside and threatening the Shiftertown community, some in the pack fear that a pair without a true mate bond isn’t strong enough to lead. Bowman and Kenzie will have to rely on their instinctive trust in one another to save their Shifters—and the ensuing battle will either destroy them or give them the chance to seize the love they’ve always craved.

My Review
In most mate pars there's a mystical mating bond that the pair shares but Kenzie and Bowman have yet to experience it even though they have been mates for years and have a son together. But they love each other and they hope that will keep them together. It was kinda obvious that they were both scared that they might feel the mate bond connection with someone else and that would break up their family.

This book is different than the other books in the series in that the hero and heroine are already married, have a kid and there's no real problem in their relationship other than they think they don't have the mate bond. The real story here is seeing how a relationship works, how two people who are in love can be so blind to what's right in front of them until something bad happens and scares them so much that they realize they really are mates, bond or not.

Then there's the fact that there's something out in the darkness trying to kill them. Something that shouldn't be there, something they've never seen before and it scares them. The secondary characters I can see showing up in future books, especially their son, Ryan. He was smart, witty and exactly what you would expect from the alpha's son.

I really liked this story and think that if you've been reading this series, you'll really like it too.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Review: Hamburger Helper Asian Sides: Beef Fried Rice

I like to try new foods when I see them, so when I saw this Hamburger Helper Asian sides Beef Fried Rice, I decided to get a box and try it out. Now I should also state that I have stopped buying the regular Hamburger Helper because most of it tastes really bad to me and my family doesn't like it either. There's really very little that I won't eat or at least try, but there are a few things that I refuse to eat anymore, Liver, Hamburger Helper, Liverwurst, Snails, Raw Fish or anything that smells rotten will never be eaten by me.

I usually make dinner every night for my family and I like to add potatoes, rice, noodles or some sort of side dish to accompany the protein that I make. I remember what it was like to be a single person working all the time and never having time to make a real meal. Eating Tv dinners, frozen chicken or ramen noodles for dinner isn't something I'm likely to do again now that I have a family.

Directions
The directions for this rice seemed very simple, brown the beef, add the rice and everything else in the one pan that they call for and let the rice get tender. After that you scrape everything to one side and scramble one egg in the pan and then mix it into the rice. I'm not sure who thought mixing an egg in the same pan was a good idea, it wasn't as easy as they make it seem and it didn't even look all that appetizing on the box. Eggs are for breakfast and not really all that great mixed together with hamburger and rice. I'm not sure what the makers of this rice were thinking at the time they came up with this.

Now I'm pretty easy to please, really. Knowing this was Hamburger Helper I didn't expect it to be gourmet food but I did expect it to at the very least be edible. Unfortunately, I expected too much.

I got a little out after it was done and put it on my plate, I knew right away it wasn't going to be good because of the smell but I decided not to say anything to my husband when I told him dinner was done.

Tasting
I sat nibbling my food while Ken got his food out and sat down. I watched his face as he took a bite and made a face. He took another bite, I'm guessing just to make sure he tasted what he thought he did and looked over at me, making a face.

The rice and hamburger tasted horrible, a bit like salty vomit and the eggs did absolutely nothing to help this dish. We could not even finish what we had on our plates before getting up and throwing it all in the garbage.

We were still hungry since it was dinner time so I thawed out some pork chops and made them instead.

My conclusion
I will never buy another Hamburger Helper side dish ever again. They have forever left a salty vomit like taste burned into my taste buds and I would rather eat ramen noodles for dinner from now on.

If you are looking for a good side dish for dinner tonight and you see Hamburger Helper on the store shelves. Walk away, very fast and don't look back.

Over 200 hours of Fragrance time per pack!

My wax warmer.

My Review

I put one of the cubes in my warmer and waited a while and didn't smell a thing. I went over to my warmer thinking maybe it wasn't plugged in but it was and the wax had melted but unless I was right next to the warmer I couldn't smell a thing. I've tried all 5 scents and the same thing happened with all of them. I used two cubes thinking that would put out more scent but it didn't. I wouldn't waste my money again on these since they don't work and have little to no scent when put in a warmer.

I give this 1 star out of 5.

Review:Quality Creations Cinnamon Vanilla Almond Butter

Product Description

100% Organic, Vegan and GMO Free. Gluten Free & Soy Free as well. Includes the numerous benefits of Chia, Flax and Hemp Seeds. Great source of omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants, keeping you healthier. Flavored with cinnamon and vanilla for a tastier treat with no added sugar. Smooth, creamy spread high in protein and fiber. Handcrafted for health and happiness.

My Review

When you first get this product and open it, you might see that the oil has separated from the rest of it. Don't panic, that's quite normal and is easy to remedy. Just take a fork and start mixing it. It's going to be thick in places so you'll need to use some strength to mix this and it might take a few minutes to get it smooth, at least it did for me but it's so worth it. This Almond Butter has such a great taste, like nothing I've ever had before actually.

I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I have to say that it was sweeter than I'm used to but I really liked the flavor of it.

I like trying new foods and I'm so glad I had the chance to try this because I know that I'll be trying more of the different flavors of peanut butter and almond butter from this company. I've now tried two different flavors from this company and I've loved both of them.

My Review

This product is great for small spaces that need a little freshening scent. Places like cars, closets, gym bags, bathrooms and even trash cans. You just press the product until it pops and hang it where you want it. It gives off a nice scent without you having to do anything more. If you're looking for an innovative and interesting air freshener, this might be it.

I like all the scents but the relaxing lavender was probably my favorite. Lavender has always been a favorite scent ad I always feel calm and relaxed when I smell it. I put them n every room in my apartment and they've been hanging in there for 3 days and I can still smell them. These are best when used in smaller spaces like closets and bathrooms I found though.

Review: PacificCoast NutriLabs 1000mg Vitamin C

Product Description

Discover the Vitamin C Connection
When it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and preventing disease, Vitamin C plays a huge role. As a water-soluble molecule, it can directly affect free radicals in the body, which are known to advance aging and induce oxidative damage.

Why You Should Take It Everyday
Because we can't store Vitamin C in our body, taking a quality Vitamin C supplement is a no-brainer. It ensures that you're getting the sufficient amount of nutrients you need every day.

It's one of the most essential nutrients you can consume, and integrating it into your diet can offer a bevy of benefits:

Health:
• Immunity Booster
• Improves Digestive Health
• Supports Asthma Symptoms

Beauty:
• Firm and Fairer Skin
• Improves Hair Growth
• Healthy Gums and Teeth
• Slow the Signs of Aging

Wellness:
• Manage Your Stress Levels
• Increase Your Energy

Weight Loss:
• Burn More Calories and Fat
• Aid Muscle Recovery
• Increase Testosterone Levels

It's important to note that the majority of these studies had their subjects consuming 500-1000mg a day of Vitamin C. Thus, our high potency tablets deliver 1000mg in each capsule.

My Review

I've been wanting to try some Vitamin C for a while because it's supposed to help keep you healthy and if I remember what my grandma used to say, it helps prevent colds too or at least boosts your immune system. So I started taking this when I got it and it didn't upset my stomach, it was easy to swallow and I think it might have even helped with the healing of my broken arm or the swollen tissue surrounding it. I haven't had a cold in the past 2 weeks since taking this and I've been around a few people with colds. I feel good and it didn't upset my stomach so I'm happy.

I broke my arm

So it will be a little while before I can get around to commenting back on your blogs. I broke my right arm and am right handed. lol so much fun.

Bookshelf Tag

The Bookshelf Tag
Last month I was at my friends blog over at Click's Clan and she posted a Bookshelf Tag that you can read here. I liked hers so much that I decided to do one of my own and share a few pictures of my own bookshelves.
*living room bookshelf*

1. Describe your bookshelf (or wherever it is you keep your books – it doesn't actually have to be a shelf!) and where you got it from. I actually have several bookshelves. The one in the living room was given to me by a neighbor when she moved out. The two I have in the bedroom were also given to me by a neighbor when she moved out. The small one in the hall I bought and the corner hanging one in my bedroom I also bought.

2. Do you have any special or different way of organizing your books? I try to keep books from each author together and since I have a few horror books I keep all those together and all of the romance together as well.

3. What’s the thickest (most amount of pages) book on your shelf? I would have to say Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon, which is about 800 pages is the book with the most pages.

4. What’s the thinnest (least amount of pages) book on your shelf? That would be Love Bites by James Newman. It's 39 pages long and signed by the author.

5. What’s the smallest (height and width wise) book on your shelf? It is Magic in the Wind by Christine Feehan. It's only 103 pages and it was hiding between some other books.

6. What’s the biggest (height and width wise) book on your shelf? The biggest book I have by far is Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's a large hardback copy with 836 pages.

*My bedroom bookshelves*

7. Is there a book from a friend on your shelf? A neighbor gave me a copy of Lawe's Justice by Lora Leigh. She was moving out and gave me a couple of books.

8. Most expensive book? I don't have a lot of expensive books. But I remember years ago I went into a book store and paid $15.00 for a copy of a book that I had been looking for forever and finally found. It's called Redemption by Annee Cartier and it came out in 1997. I still have it and it's still a favorite of mine.

9. The last book you read on your shelf? That would be Midnight Raven by Becca Boucher. I won it from the author in a fb contest and read it recently.

10. Off all the books on your shelf, which was the first your read? Hobgoblin by John Coyne. I remember reading that book for the first time in high school for a free time reading class. The only thing we had to do in this class was pick a book, read it and give an oral report. Best class ever!

11. Do you have more than one copy of a book? Yes, several books in fact but I have 4 copies of Untouched by Sara Humphreys.

12. Do you have the complete series of any book series? I have the complete Dark Series by Christine Feehan.

13. What’s the newest addition to your shelf? That would be Midnight Raven by Becca Boucher.

14. What book has been on your shelf forever? That would be Once In Paris by Diana Palmer. That was the first romance novel I read and I kept it ever since.

15. What’s the most recently published book on your bookshelf? One of the newest books I have on my bookshelf is Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost.

16. The oldest book on your shelf (as in, the actual copy is old)? I have a book that I got from my mom that she used to read to me called Little Boy Blue and His Friends. It's a school edition and it was made in 1912. It's really old.

*hallway bookshelf*

17. A book you won? I've won a lot of books in the past few years but when I went exploring my bookshelves the first one I saw that I'd won was Beyond The Darkness by Jaime Rush.

18. A book you’d hate to let out of your sight (a.k.a. a book you never let someone borrow)? Most of them? lol

19. Most beat up book?I have a book that I bought from a garage sale and it looks like its been read a few times. It is Lover's Bite by Maggie Shayne.

20. Most pristine book? I have a book that I was careful not to even crack the spine and it's in really good shape, it's Wanted: Undead or Alive by Kerrelyn Sparks.

21. A book from your childhood? That would be the Little Boy Blue and his Friends book that I got from my mom.

22. A book that’s not actually your book? They're all mine. lol

23. A book with a special/different cover (e.g. leather bound, soft fuzzy cover, etc.)? No, I don't have any of those.

24. A book that is your favorite color? When Darkness Falls by Shannon Drake has a really pretty blue black cover with a gargoyle statue on the cover. It's one of my favorites.

25. Book that’s been on your shelf the longest that you STILL haven’t read? I usually read the books I get pretty fast but Mate Bond by Jennifer Ashley is still sitting on my shelf calling to me.

26. Any signed books? I actually have a lot of signed books from author blogs that I've visited and won or that have been sent to me for review or just because they felt like sending me a book. Here's just a few of the authors that I have autographed books from. Sara Humphreys, Lori Whitwam, Karen Koehler, Brian Keene, Lisa Dale, Kate Douglas, Sam Cheever and James Newman.

I hope you enjoyed this tour through my bookshelves. I'm supposed to tag some other bloggers to do this challenge but I think it's more fun to just let whoever want to do it make a post and share it. So let me know if you write up a Bookshelf Tag post and I'll take a look at it too.
