Apartment Life #120

This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.

Ken called me in from the bedroom when he heard shouting outside and I got there in time to get a picture of the police car parked in front of our bedroom window. He said two police officers had got out and ran towards the office courtyard so I took Falcor for a walk and heard a lot of shouting coming from an apartment in that courtyard but when the police came out they were alone and didn't arrest anyone. So I don't know what went on or why the police were called. But they did show up for something. Hey, at least it wasn't my courtyard this time it was one courtyard over but still in my apartment complex.

Now for something truly funny. I found yet another notice on my door this week but this time our apartment management company is offering people who live here a $200 incentive to get their friends and family to move here. I think it's hilarious that they think anyone who lives here would suggest a place that has the cops here several times a week, drug dealers, homeless and drug addicts walking around causing drama and fights with other residents. If anything, I would tell my friends and family not to move here. lol I just can't make this stuff up. Good grief.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. I wonder whether they will get an takers for that $200 incentive. Quite possibly not.
Glad that the action was at least a little further away this week. As I suspect you were.

  2. lmao well the sad part is the druggies may bring more druggies and then use the $200 to by drugs.

  3. Some drug dealer might jump on that opportunity though.

    1. Yeah, that's what Pat just said too. I hadn't thought of that. I hope not.

  4. Hilarious! Especially the Valentine's theme. Nope, you can't make this stuff up.

  6. Oh wow... Paying residents to convince people to move there. It says a lot. If it were an awesome place to be, the apartments would sell themselves. Maybe the management company should focus on cleaning house?

I'm glad the police drama wasn't in your courtyard this time! :)

    1. You would think, I mean apartment costs are pretty high and this place is cheaper than a lot of others so there shouldn't be any vacant apartments for too long.

  7. Oh, maybe that's what the shouting was about, the $200 bounty!

  8. Well, I'm sure the management company couldn't care less what goes on around your flats, as long as someone is willing to move in and presumably face a big increase in rent (which drug dealers could well afford of course).

  9. Wow! I can't believe management would actually try and have their tenants encourage people to live there after all the drama you know goes on there!

  10. Well, if you could get all the apartments rented to your own friends and family, the complex could become a less crazy place to live! Did everybody get that flyer or just you and Ken?

  11. Wow at the flyer.

  12. That's funny about the incentive! At least this time the action was in a different courtyard- it would be nerve wracking I'd think to have it any closer!

    1. Yeah but I'm a nosy neighbor and went to see what I could see anyway. lol

  13. Ooh, I think Stephanie Jane is onto something---you just have to convince all the sane people you know to move in. Make it your own private commune. LOL!

  15. Certainly no one who reads your blog would ever want to move into your apartment complex. ;D

  16. Yeah most apartment complex's do that so it doesn't shock me but they probably just want to give folks an incentive. I never would want to live there though with all the crazy stuff that happens. Come to Utah....its peaceful in my neighborhood. lol

    1. lol I'm sure it would be peaceful almost anywhere else.

  17. Wow. LoL I can't believe that they would put out fliers like that when they don't seem to want to clean up their property.

  18. You shouldn't go out for a walk when you hear shoutings; it could easily turn into shootings. One never knows.

    1. Yeah, but if I did that then I would never be outside because shoutings happen all the time around here. The police don't get called for them all the time but they happen on almost a daily basis.

  19. I only seen a deputy on our road twice, and I been here for 20 years

  20. They must be desperate.

  21. Shootings happen almost daily? Oh my.

  22. There are times that I think living in an apartment wasn't so bad (generally after wasting a day working on the yard instead of being out paddling or sailing). Then, I read your comments. $200 doesn't sound like much incentive. Stay safe!

  23. Yeah they're trying hard to get new tenants!

  24. Something crazy is going down and you take Falcor for a walk?? You're far braver than I am, or maybe just more curious, haha.

  25. I can't believe they are trying to bribe you to bring in business when they refuse to solve any of the problems you report! What a cheek!

  26. Yeah my apartment complex has a lot of problems too, and like you, despite the incentive program, I tell everyone not to move here. I want to move, but renting is expensive, so we'll see what happens when my lease comes up. Are you thinking about moving? I hope things improve :)

    1. When our lease was up in January we looked into moving but couldn't find a more affordable place so we signed another lease.

  27. Yes not a place I would suggest to people

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, I never recommended any of the apartments I lived in to anyone I like. Of course, maybe if you don't like the person and could use $200 it could be a perfect plan :)
