We're friends with the couple that lives there but they don't get along well because the wife has an untreated mental illness and calls the police on her husband all the time for no reason. It's actually been a while since this happened but he said he came home from work and had brought a co-worker home with him for a minute. The wife didn't like the stranger coming over so she walked outside and called the police. The police came, he and his friend left and she went back in the apartment and the police left.

Apartment Life #193
This is a new weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 20 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 20 years here in a weekly blog post.
So of course the police were on my street again this week. Picture taken from my bedroom window. I heard someone knocking really loudly on the neighbor who is right across from me and saw the police go into his apartment. So I looked out my bedroom window and sure enough, police cars.

It's a horrible picture but the manager left a 5 day eviction notice taped to that door on the left. The guy that lived there moved out over a month ago and let one of the homeless druggie people stay there after he left. Several people in my courtyard told the manager that the homeless people were squatting in that apartment and he did nothing for an entire month. Finally he went there and made the homeless people leave and locked the apartment after putting the notice on the door. Why does it take an entire month to go check out the apartment and kick the homeless druggies out of the apartment? I don't get it.
Then Thursday morning the guy in this apartment left all of his trash out in front of his door. When someone told him to pick it up because it was going to cause ants, he kicked it out in the rocks and the porter picked it up when he came by to pick up any trash on the grounds. I just thought it was rude and selfish to do that.
So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

Definitely rude and selfish. I hate that he got away with it too.
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteThere should be some special rule for those who leave out the trash that way.
ReplyDeleteThere really should be.
DeleteThat guy needs to be fined for dumping his rubbish like that. Selfish git. I also agree that it shouldn't take a month to move the junkies out. Still, I suppose at least it's done now which is a small mercy.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe it took s long.
DeletePeople are selfish and only think of themselves. Just leavig trash anywhere is not an option, put it where it belongs.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
I wish they would.
DeleteRude indeed. Lady sounds a bit off her rocker. Shouldn't take a month to kick the druggies out.
ReplyDeleteNo it shouldn't take that long at all.
DeleteIt's incomprehensible that a squatter situation wouldn't be top priority! And why would someone leave their trash outside their own door? He was too lazy to take it to the bins?
ReplyDeleteI just don't get it. But at least it's done now.
DeleteConsidering the manager is responsible for the condition of that apartment, you would think he'd boot the squatters out right away.
ReplyDeleteRight? You would think.
DeleteOH my goodness, doesn't get boring over there, does it? Mess.
ReplyDeleteIt's never boring here.
DeleteCould it be that the manager is a wee bit lazy?!?!
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly.
DeleteI agree, why on earth does it take a month to issue an eviction notice when the manager knew the apartment was being squatted? And yes, what kind of person just leaves their trash outside their front door? Someone who acts like a spoilt child....
ReplyDeleteI don't know. Here if the manager finds the apartment empty and a person who isn't on the lease staying there, he could have kicked him out that day.
Deletei have done a lot of apartment living, but never came across such an 'interesting' place. i know evictions can take a lot of time, so any delay is not good

DeleteHow do you do this week after week?? It would drive me bonkers.
ReplyDeleteLindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? 💬
What Lindsi said! I don't know how you manage to stay sane... But I guess it's never boring!
DeleteI think maybe because most of these things aren't happening to me and I'm just seeing it happen as an outsider. Like watching the zoo animals through the glass. They might be causing trouble for the other animals but not for me.
DeleteI hate when neighbors leave their trash everywhere, or when I go to the big dumpster and it's thrown all over the place. I hate apartment life, and want to move in to a house really badly, but everything is so expensive.
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
That's exactly why we haven't moved. My daughter is looking for an apartment right now and some 2bdrm's are $1400 a month.
DeleteCalls the police for no reason at all. That sounds like neighbors in my building who call the police about people living in the building not on the lease. I think it's two faced, if you got a problem with someone-have a chat or look inside yourself at your own demons. the police got better things to do, is my motto.
ReplyDeleteYes, that would be ridiculous. But this woman does it because she's mentally ill and refuses to see a doctor again about it. She used to be on medication her husband said but won't take it anymore.
DeleteI hate when people do that with trash.
ReplyDeleteOh I do too.
DeleteAnother exciting adventure from your apartment complex. At least you manage to get a laugh out of it. Let's hope this week is better. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope it is too but I won't hold my breath. lol
DeleteGreat update, your apartment life sounds full of new dramas from time to time.New fan and I can't wait to read more from you.Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Deleteoh boy...SO much drama and adventure!! lol Hope this week is more peaceful for you
ReplyDeleteIt's always crazy here.
DeleteAnts, rats, euww, just don't
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind the rats. lol
DeletePeople are just rude! It sounds like the current management has a lot of room for improvement!
ReplyDeleteYeah they really do.
DeleteWow. I hope your neighbor gets the mental health treatment that she needs. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too but her husband said she won't go.
DeleteOh wow- yeah the apartment manager needs to get it together lol. And yikes about the trash! Even here in the frozen north haha we'd get ants or who knows what if the trash just sat out. Raccoons too
ReplyDeleteIf it was summer, ants would be all over it.
DeleteLooks like it's time to move to another state where the rents are lower. Do you have family ties to the state you're in? 😕
ReplyDeleteYeah my 87 year old dad and my daughter live here.
DeleteOh dear. What a crazy place to live.
ReplyDeleteit is.
DeleteI hate it when people are inconsiderate, thinking others should clean up after them. This guy needs some community service.
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteI bet some of neighbors and police is on first name bases
ReplyDeleteOh I wouldn't doubt it.
DeleteWhat a charmer!
ReplyDeleteDefiitely.
DeleteTotally agree about the rudeness of leaving your trash outside and expecting someone else to pick it up for you!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I just don't understand it.
