Favorite Photo of the Week

My daughter brought some little friends home. lol These are Cicada skins from after the nymph cicada has shed its skin to turn into an adult Cicada.

She found them on one of the trees. You can see here that there were quite a few of them on the tree.

They were all over the trunk of the tree.

This is how my daughter came back from walking the dog. She was wearing the skins like jewelry on her shirt. lol

  1. I remember cicada cases - I haven't seen them in years.
I used to wear them just as your daughter is.

  10. I'm gonna go with 'no' on the wearing, but I would definitely have grabbed one for 'my' kids at work to see.

Your daughter obviously has a great sense of humor and is not a wimp. :-D

I have an Eyeclops Bionicam which shows microscopic things on a TV screen. I have dead spiders and flies and other interesting found objects. (I don't kill stuff)

  15. Ha! We had them all over FL but I haven't seen them here in WA yet. I'm not sure if we have them.

We're kind of boring on the insect front out here lol

  16. Those things always creeped me out when I was a kid. I haven't seen any skins since they've reemerged once again.
