Review: Her Vampire Prince (Midnight Doms book 3) by Ines Johnson

Book Description

Cari
How hard is it to die?
Don’t ask me. I’ve been failing at it for a year.
My father lost his life in a fatal car wreck while I walked away without a scratch.
Now I taunt that bastard Death on a daily basis.
Volcano hopping. Street racing. Skydiving.
But then Death comes for me.

Hadrian
For centuries, I’ve been a dead vampire walking.
No warmth, no feeling. No reason to live.
Then she bursts into my life.
A mortal daredevil with a carefree laugh.
She literally falls from the sky and into my arms.
She’s got a death wish and I’ve got a hunger only she can slake.

She’s my prey, but she wants to leave?
No way. She’s mine. And I’m never letting her go.

My Review

Cari is feeling lost and numb since her father's death so she does more and more adventurous stuff just to feel something. But this time while sky diving, her parachute and backup parachute do not open and she's heading toward a messy death when she splats on the ground but when Hadrian jumps up to catch her before she can meet the ground, she's not sure she's even alive at first.

Hadrian has seen and done some really awful things because those torture devices he has are not replica's, they are the real thing and he's well versed in what they can do. But when he saves Cari from an awful death, something blossoms inside him, something he hasn't felt in a long time.

Hadrian and his brothers have a vineyard and like to make wine. They aren't birth brothers but blood brothers who were all turned by the same vampire back during the Spanish Inquisition. Their sire was a sadistic jerk who took out her frustrations on all of them in different ways but Hadrian believes that he loved her and misses her. The brothers were also all torturers during that time and Hadrian is know and the Prince of Pain for a good reason.

Cari has a series of accidents while on her adrenaline adventures and Hadrian is beginning to think he knows who is behind the mishaps but he is so wrong and the twist this story took when the real person was revealed was quite the shock.

I really liked Hadrian, at first I thought he was going to be some sadistic neanderthal who got off on hurting his mate but that couldn't be further from the truth. He turned out to be a really nice guy and great for Cari. They made a really good team and I really liked how great they were together.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

  3. Glad Hadrian ended up being a nice guy. Hard to like a torturer as a love interest!

  7. Skydiving and not having the chute open is quite the opener to the story. Interesting background for Hadrian and his brothers with that sadistic, crazy sire. I love that there is a surprise twist in who is behind her accidents. Sounds like a good series.

  9. I'm glad Hadrian turned out to be a good guy. I don't think I'd like a romance either if the hero liked to hurt his partner.
