Recipe: Pancakes

Ya'll, I actually didn't realize how easy it is to make homemade pancakes until now. I've always bought the Aunt Jemima complete pancake mix and while it's good, these are just as good and so easy to make.

Recipe:

1 1/2 cups flour- sifted
3 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. salt
4 TBSP Sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1 large egg
4 TBSP butter- melted
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Sift together all dry ingredients in one large bowl.
In another bowl mix milk, egg and vanilla. Add to dry ingredients and mix well. Add melted butter and mix just until incorporated.

Let sit at room temperate uncovered for 30 minutes.

Heat griddle or large non-stick pan to med. Add batter 1/4 cup at a time. Flip when you see bubbles forming on top.

I don't have a griddle so I use a large non-stick pan and make one large pancake at a time. This will make 6 large pancakes or 12 normal size pancakes. You can also add different flavorings to this recipe.

Have you made homemade pancakes before? Do you have a good recipe?

  1. Hi, Mary!

I love pancakes, and I wish I could jump through the screen and gobble up that stack you made. Mrs. Shady loves to cook. At least once a month, we have pancakes for dinner. That suits me just fine. Like you, she makes them from scratch. I will show her your recipe. Thanks for posting it!

  2. We use pre-mix but I'd be willing to try homemade once.

  3. I always made homemade blueberry pancakes for my kids. Just the basic recipe from my old Betty Crocker cookbook.

  4. Those look sooo good! I'm forced to make mine with gluten-free bisquick, nowhere near as tasty looking as yours made with flour.

  6. Homemade pancakes are super easy to make! I make them all the time. And it's easy to change to recipe a little to make different kinds...like applesauce cinnamon, honey, strawberry vanilla, sour cream blueberry, etc. :D

  7. Looks nom. Here in Europe we mostly make crepes, not American style pancakes.

    1. I tried making crepes one time. One time and they didn't come out right at all. lol I watched a cooking show and realized that I didn't have the right equipment.

  13. I have never bought mix, I mean it does take like a minute putting it all together :) I also have a special pancake pan to make mini ones

  14. I love homemade, but sometimes I'm just lazy and want to add water to a mix and be done with it. These pancakes look light and fluffy, so I'll give them a try soon.
