Apartment Life #272

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

One of the people that went down to drug dealers apartment couldn't trade their cart full of garbage for drugs so instead of taking their cart with them wherever they were going they left it parked right in front of my door. I had to shove it away from my door when I took Falcor out for a walk. The porter pushed it out to the alley when he came through so the guy with the truck who collects all the stray carts could get it. The cart guy then takes the cart back to the stores and get paid for each cart he brings back. So the carts always get picked up from around here.

---

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the druggies from drug dealers apartment were coming and going from an apartment across from them. The guy that lives there though is very private and doesn't usually talk to anyone. I hadn't seen him for a few days so I thought it was weird. The next day I noticed the maintenance man was changing the locks and nailing plywood over the window  so the druggies couldn't break into the apartment so I thought he just moved out and the druggies had broke into his apartment.

A few days later I noticed a few guys moving the furniture, tools, and other belongings out of his apartment. One of the guys said hi to me so after saying hi I took the opportunity to ask how the guy who lived there was doing. He said his brother got sick and passed away while in the hospital. It surprised me, I gave my condolences and left. So one of my neighbors passed away and the druggies from drug dealers apartment broke in and were using the place as their own for a few days until a family member called the apartment manager and asked them to secure the apartment until they could get here.

My daughter's boyfriend took a video of one of the tweakers in his courtyard climbing the fence to get in the pool and scooting the trashcan around. The pool has been closed for a couple of years but the pool guy comes every couple of weeks to maintain it. My daughter said her boyfriend told her that this week when the pool guy came, this woman pushed him out of the way when he unlocked the gate and jumped in the pool fully clothed. The pool guy shook his head, packed up his stuff and left without cleaning the pool. I guess he wasn't dealing with any of that. *laughing*

The high this week was 95F/35C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. It doesn't take the druggies long to realise that a flat is vacant does it?
I am sorry that you lost your neighbour that way. He sounds like a lot less trouble than many of the people around.

  2. Hi, Mary!

I'm sorry to learn that you and my buddy Falcor encountered an abandoned shopping cart with a cargo of garbage on the way out the door for your walk. Aren't spent needles on the ground quite enough for you guys to deal with? Anyhow, you know what they say: One man's garbage is another man's... trash.

Yessum, it's sad that the druggies took advantage of another person's misfortune, trespassed and did who knows what inside his unit whilst he was gone.

I don't understand why the pool has been closed for two years but they continue to have it maintained, inviting abuses like the guy in the vid and the woman who jumped in fully clothed. Wouldn't it be easier just to drain the pool and be done with it?

Have a safe and happy week, dear friend Mary!

    1. We haven't had an onsite manager for 2 years. They only open the pool when a manager is in the office just like the laundry room is only open during the week when maintenance is here and closes at 5pm.

If the pool isn't maintained then they get fined and can't have it in the ad for the renting of the apartments for prospective tenants.

  3. Some scummy people who would break into a dead person's apartment to use it. Wonder how they knew?

    1. They druggies watch everything that's going on around here. They probably noticed his car was gone for more than a couple of days.

  4. Yeah, the pool guy is not paid enough to deal with that!
I’m impressed that a person collects carts and returns them to stores for cash.

  5. "they left it parked right in front of my door"
    Because of course 🙄.

Sad story about the dead man. I mean, even sadder, since drugheads took advantage of his properties...

"this woman pushed him out of the way when he unlocked the gate and jumped in the pool fully clothed"
She must have been in dire need of a bath 😂.

    1. Yeah, it's not the first time the crts have been left near my door.

It is sad that they took no time to break into his apartment.

Bath, maybe. Most likely just high.

  6. At least the tweaker didn't take off her clothes, get naked in front of pool guy before jumping in. Did he lock the gate back up, with her inside, before he left?

    1. Yeah, at east there's that. Yeah he locked her inside the pool area but she climbed over the fence.

  8. Our store carts are big, family one size carts. This one in the picture looks smaller. Perhaps the carts in your stores are of various types.

    1. All of our grocery store carts are this size. You only see the bigger ones at big box stores like costco.

  9. Store carts here can't leave the premises, they have some kind of electronic thing on them that goes off it you leave the area. I don't blame the pool guy for just leaving.

  10. This druggies have no shame when they should! If I were the pool guy I'd have left too. Tweekers can be volatile. Another exciting week. Stay safe, Mary!

  11. Never a dull moment where you live! Sad about your neighbor. Hey, I read that book Wildfire Griffin with Rory and Edith...and it was so cute. I really liked it. I can't wait to read the next one. Thanks for the recommendation! :D

Jumping in the pool fully clothed. Hmm drunk maybe or high? Or just REALLY wanted a swim :):)

  15. I'm sure the cart collectors are mighty busy. That's too sad about your neighbor.

  16. I see shopping carts along the more main road sometimes. I hope they get returned to the stores. It is terrible that they broke into the apartment after the man died.

    1. The stores routinely pay people to go pick up the shopping carts so they probably do.

Yeah it's awful that they took advantage like that.

  17. I am glad someone comes and picks up the carts. Imagine the collection if he didn't! I imagine it would cost the stores a lot to have to replace them if they didn't have someone collect them.

I hope the lady enjoyed the pool. I hope the pool guy still got paid.

I'm sorry to hear about your neighbor.

I hope you have a good week, Mary. Take care!

Not sure if she enjoyed the pool or not.

He was a nice guy so it was sad to hear that.

  20. She jumped into the pool fully-clothed? Presumably under the influence of something. Interesting that supermarkets pay for returned trolleys. It's a good idea. We don't have that arrangement in the UK.

    1. Oh yeah, I'm sure she was high as hell.

If they didn't pay for the return of the carts, they would be all over the streets.

  21. I told Firefly that those carts get picked up by someone. She didn't realize it. Sad those people have no respect for others property.

    1. Yeah, I see the guy in the truck slowly driving by looking for carts every morning. I wonder how much they get paid per cart to bring them back.

    1. It is. I just can't believe that they got in, did whatever they did, probably stole some stuff and just get away with it.

  25. Wow I've seen a few things when I lived closer to city centers when I was in college but I don't see much in the burbs. It's great (and smart) someone pays him to take back the carts. I didn't want to rent anymore because I wanted to make my own decisions. Of course, the HOA likes to butt in but mostly I can handle things. I hope you have some cooler weather. We finally are.

    1. My dads friend moved into an HOA and he's had fines for the dumbest of things. The grass was over 2 inches tall, the trash cans weren't clean on the outside, the driveway had an oil stain on it. there was a kiddie pool in the backyard for his dog.

I would lose my mind if I lived in one that strict.
