Apartment Life #292

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post..

Wednesday morning the police were at the corner apartment building again. There were a bunch of people who didn't live there standing around and hanging out by the apartment doors. I don't know if someone there keeps calling the police or what.

I enlarged the picture so you can see the two police cars that were over there.

-----

This week my daughter noticed something I hadn't over by where a couple of the homeless guys have been sleeping. One of them has a Ninja Turtle in his shopping cart. That's a couple of chairs behind it.

My daughter was walking by and said it looked like the Ninja Turtle was watching her so she took a picture.

It does look like it's keeping an eye on her. lol

-----

Wednesday night I was walking Falcor and he barked at some woman who walked by me. I had him on a short leash and he never got close to her. she walked around the building just so she could walk by me again and walk really close to me. She slowed down so she could scream right in my ear, "Restrain your damn dog" To which I replied, "I did."

I kept walking but had my hand on my taser because when I turned around she was just standing there staring at me. I didn't know if she was going to come hit me or what. But she was mad. Like, really mad that my dog barked at her.

If you read my Sunday post last week you know what a complete idiot the maintenance man is. Monday I put in a work order online for my clogged kitchen sink, he never showed up that day to fix it. So Tuesday morning I look to see if anything has updated about the work order and this motherfarker has updated the work order that he completed the work on Monday when I submitted it.

So I put in another work order and you can see what I said there. I said he never came out, my sink is still clogged and I would hope maintenance would actually come out and do the work today.

I took a screen shot of the work order just in case he tries to change the date or anything. Try and pull a fast one on me. Think again. They never came out to fix it all week. I sent two emails to the manager and no response. I finally got fed up on Friday and called the emergency maintenance number and talked with an actual person. I explained the situation and she sent out 2 different maintenance guys who did finally fix my drain and I didn't have to deal with the idiot maintenance guy from last week.

----

Monday night the police were down at the end apartment in my building but they only stay for a few minutes. No idea why. He has the homeless brother so maybe they were looking for him.

Then late Monday night we heard a bunch of gunshots really close. A few minutes later the police showed up and were shining their flashlights on the ground 2 doors down in the rocks, I am assuming looking for bullet casings (spent shells). They were out there for quite a while but I don't know if they found anything.

----

When I took falcor outside Thursday night, there were three big pitbulls off-leash walking around and one of them aggressively came up to Falcor. I saw the owner standing outside and I yelled at her to get her damn dog but she didn't even move. She did nothing to call her dog back. Thankfully I had my Taser with me set it off in the air for a few seconds that was enough to scare the dog away.  Friday morning I called Animal Control to make a complaint and emailed the apartment manager letting them know that they have three big pitbulls in their apartment what they've already been told that they have to get rid of because no dogs over 25 pounds are allowed in this apartment complex. I warned her twice before when this happened and I told her the next time it happened that I would be calling animal control and making a complaint so she's been warned. This really pissed me off I'm glad I didn't have to tase the dog though, the sound was enough scare the dog away which is why I got the taser in the first place so I'm glad it worked.

The high this week was 73F/22C
The low this week was 42F/5 C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more

  1. That Ninja Turtle looks more human and self-aware than a lot of the people in your area, and more useful than the maintenance guy.

Hope you can get rid of the pit bulls.

    1. I hope so too. If they kept them on a leash all the time I wouldn't have a problem.

  2. Busy week. Maintenance is really lousy there. Now you know - call emergency right away.
Really glad you have a taser...

The two other maintenance guys who came out were great.

  3. Hi, Mary!

This is worrisome, dear friend. I don't want anything happening to my buddy Falcor. I don't understand why that phantom stalker woman was so upset over your little dog barking at her while on a short leash, when there are three large pitbulls on the loose in the neighborhood. Please be careful. Don't let Falcor eat any food scraps left on the sidewalk, because people have been known to do very cruel things to our animal friends if they have a mind to. I'm very sorry that you heard shots fired near your unit this week, and very sorry that you need to go to such lengths to get repair and maintenance done. I hope things settle down in the coming week. Have a safe and happy one, dear friend Mary!

    1. Oh yeah, I don't let Falcor eat anything outside. There have been reports of poisoned dog food at the dog parks in the Summer. People are cruel.

I had never seen that woman before and haven't seen her since thankfully.

  5. Lots going on this week! Those shots of the cart with the Ninja Turtle has to be one of the creepiest things ever!

  6. The Ninja Turtle is creepy. Did that maintenance guy really think he could get away with that??

I hate pit bulls and have a horrifying story about one. There is quite a scary allegiance to them on the internet. I don’t get it.

    1. I don't know what the maintenance guy was thinking. A couple of weeks ago I was getting my mail and one of the pitbulls ran up to me and jumped on me. He was friendly but that's not ok. If I'd had Falcor with me I don't think it would have been good.

  7. The maintenance guy sounds less than competent. I hate running into dogs that are off leash. I have had dogs charge my dogs and it is scary. Stay safe Mary!

  8. Who knows where that man got a Ninja Turtle!

Of course I knew about most of your (mis)adventures from Twitter, but I missed the maintenance drama? What the heck. That guy is a piece of work.

Three pitbulls...yikes. One is scary enough...

    1. The ninja turtle pictures still make me laugh. I waited all week for maintenance to show up. I would probably still be waiting.

Yeah the pitbulls. I hope they get a fine and keep their dogs on a leash.

  10. For Falcor to have barked at that woman, he must have sensed something threatening about her. For the maintenance man to still have a job, a paycheck, for not doing his job, even getting away with lying about it, there must be a personal or family relationship between him and the manager. What kind of taser (brand name, voltage) do you carry?

    1. I got the taser on Amazon. It's a SABRE Self-Defense Kit with SABRE Pepper Spray and Stun Gun with Flashlight and Anti-Grab Bar Technology, 35 Burst, 10 Foot (3 Meter) Range, Painful 1.250 µC Charge.

It was $21 for the taser and pepper spray.

  11. I would totally expect to see Ninja Turtles in your hood, so I'm not at all surprised LOL

  12. Great photo of the Ninja turtle, I would have taken it too. I don't understand why this idiot got hired for maintenance in the first place when he doesn't do anything. He ought to be fired for falsifying your order. I would complain to management not that will make a difference. You pay enough rent, where are the services. What are you suppose to do when something like this happens?

    1. I did complain to management and to the other maintenance guys. I doubt anything will be done about it.

Just keep complaining until something is done I guess.

  20. I'm scared of people more than dogs. But the three pitbulls would have scared me. That said, I have a large pitbull. She is scared of the chi mixes I own. They can be menacing. She is the boss dog. But we have a big boss and a little boss who run the show. Sometimes it is the little boss who rules.

    1. I have no idea if the pitbulls are friendly or not. But I can't take that chance when my dog is only 10lbs and they are off leash.

  21. Now, that was a full week, but I'm glad you and Falcor are safe from the angry lady and dogs also the gunshots.

What a hoot about the Ninja Turtle.

  23. Wow. Another week where you have to handle someone else's issues. The maintenance guy thing is exactly why I bought a house. I can't stand the lack of maintenance or delayed maintenance. People here usually have their dogs on leashes but you have to watch out for deer and coyotes at night.

  24. That maintenance guy sounds like a real jerk! Glad you got it sorted at least. It sucks for the dogs that their owners are idiots. I'd feel bad tasing them, too, but if they were going to bring harm to me or my dog I'd do it.

    1. I would tase them too if they attacked. I don't want to have to hurt a dog though so I;m glad the sound was enough to scare them away.

  25. Quite an active week, I'd say. I don't miss apartment "community" life, and we've been looking for a little tiny place somewhere in the mountains surrounded by woods where we don't have to deal with shit like this.

  27. That's funny about the Ninja Turtle. It does look like it was following her with its eyes. LOL

I am glad you had your taser with you when that woman yelled at you. And again with the pitbull. I don't know why it is so hard to keep a dog on his her leash. I'm so glad you or Falcor were not hurt.

That is so frustrating about the clogged drain and the maintenance man. I am glad you were able to get it fixed--although it shouldn't have taken that much work on your part.
