Favorite Picture of the Week

We moved into this apartment complex about 26 years ago. At that time my courtyard had a lot of these green bushes and the pine tree's were small. That's my daughter posing for a picture. lol

Taken at the same angle, this is what my courtyard looks like now. There's one pine tree instead of the two that were down at this end and none of the bushes are here anymore. I liked it better with all the bushes. There are still a few bushes around the complex here and there but nothing like it was back when we first moved in.

  1. A bit of green about makes a lot of difference doesn't it?

  2. The greenery does make a huge difference. It looks awfully stark now, and a lot less shaded on hot days. Maybe they were worried about the greenery providing hiding places for the druggies and other pests?

    1. After my late husband put in the sprinkler system with the other maintenance guy, the managers here changed so many times that they just didn't care about the upkeep of the grounds. The bushes and trees died and were just cut down. The new owner doesn't care about anything but the rent money.

  4. What a big change. I imagine it's expensive to water bushes in the desert, which is probably why the complex gave up on them.

  7. It's a shame they didn't keep up with the gardening through the years.

    1. We've had so many managers and now a new owner that only care about the rent money and not the grounds upkeep.

  15. A shame so many trees and bushes have been removed. The courtyard looks very bare without them.

  19. A little greenery can certainly go a long way in making a place feel more welcoming and alive.
Hopefully, things will improve in the future.

    Happy Sunday, Mary!
