Apartment Life #362

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 26 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 26 years here in a weekly blog post.

The house that had the fire a few months ago in this post had the police at it this week. The homeless people are still breaking into this house and squatting there. The police show up (Probably when the neighbors call) and they make them leave. They should be arrested but aren't. Then the homeless break back in later.

One of the pipes around my complex overflowed again this week. Raw sewage was leaking all over the ground until maintenance came and snaked the drain to clear it. But they left the mess on the ground to dry up like they always do. The health department has been called several times before and they have gotten a fine before. They pay the fine. They don't care.
---

On Tuesday the police showed up twice. This was the second time. The officer went across the street both times to an apartment upstairs.

The police helicopter was up for a few minutes and there were police in the back alley behind this complex. They were walking around all over the place and I think they were looking for someone but they left without arresting anyone.
---

The tree trimmers were on my street this week. These two trees had been big and full and they demolished them!

They trimmed the palm tree's on my side of the street too.

But when they were done with the two trees across the street, they were bare. They had been so full of leaves and branches and now nothing. They usually trim these trees each year but this year they decided to wreck them! It looks terrible.

---

BB Gun dude ( Johnathan) is moving out next month but in the meantime he's been having loud parties.

Wednesday night was loud until after midnight. At one point I thought they were going to burn the place down with their bbq. The fireball was twice as big as this picture that I caught right after it happened. Did they throw gasoline on the bbq? lol

Everything is so dry in my courtyard, a fire could have happened so easily.

The high this week was 90F/32C
The low this week was 52F/11C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. That's too bad about the trees. When the summer comes people will need all the shade they can get.

The health department is being really negligent not forcing the owners to fix that recurring raw sewage problem.

    1. There are people that sit under those ree's for the shade each year waiting for the CareVan for disabled people to take them to doctors appointments and now there will be no shade

  2. I would mourn those trees.
And be furious about the ongoing sewerage issues.

    1. I was really hoping that when the new owners took over a few years ago that they would fix the ongoing sewer problem but no.

  3. People just don't think do they? The fire could easily have spread. Likewise the tree people didn't think or didn't care that they were wrecking the trees.

  5. Hello,
Your neighborhood does have a lot of excitement. It is a shame what they did to the trees. Take care, have a wonderful week.

  6. Hi, Mary!

Looks like the peace and tranquility you enjoyed in your neighborhood in recent months has come to an end, or at least has been temporarily interrupted. A few noisy, irresponsible tenants can spoil it for everybody. That bbq fire looks scary. A few years ago, Mrs. Shady's son made the mistake of soaking tree branches and other lawn debris with gasoline, intending to dispose of them in a backyard bonfire. When he leaned over and flicked his lighter, the sudden blast blew him off his feet and his arm was badly burned. The raw sewage issue in your complex has been ongoing ever since I started following you. It is an outrage. I am also sorry they scalped the pretty trees on your block. Hopefully they will bounce back to full glory during the upcoming growing season.

Take care of yourself and my buddy Falcor until we meet again, dear friend Mary!

  7. It's never too soon for that guy to go away. The trees do look terrible, poor things. In spring, too!

"They pay the fine. They don't care."
They must have money to burn...for goodness' sake.

  8. Even if he's leaving soon, one more call to the police might be in order.
Those trees might never come back. If they were going to trim them that much, might as well cut them down.

    1. Some of the neighbors were thinking the same thing.

  9. Why destroy the trees? That doesn't make any sense.

  10. I can't imagine the trees surviving with all the leaves cut off. Trees must have leaves to continue growing. And you have more than the needed excitement too close to home.

    1. They didn't need to cut them back that much, too much excitement here.

  11. Do you think the trees will grow back? The only time I’ve seen that here is when the trees are too close to power lines, but that’s clearly not what’s happening in your picture.

    1. If they do grow back it's going to take a couple of years.

  12. I bet the trees leaf out again quickly, and the shorter branches should be safer.

    1. Some trees do that but these aren't that kind of tree.

  13. Sad trees. Is this even the right time of year to prune them down like that? And I'm glad your stupid bbgun, bbq-ing neighbor is moving out soon.

  14. Hopefully things calm down after BB Gun Guy moves out, but I get the feeling, he will be replaced by some other character that will give you material for your blog!

    1. Probably. And since there are going to be 2 vacant apartments here, more new neighbors.

  15. It seems BBGun Dude is deliberately trying to be a menace up to the day he leaves. Going to be a tenuous few days/weeks for you and other neighbors until he's gone.

  16. Wow what an exciting week (said sarcastically). Looks like Jonathan continues to crave attention. I had a quiet week because I was home all alone. It was kind of nice.

  17. Sucks on that raw sewage.

  18. Another eventful week at your place. I'd throw a party when Jonathan finally leaves. Good riddance!

  19. A lot of excitement and apparently a lot of excrement. Have you thought about contacting your local news about the shitty problem? Raw sewage being dumped like that is illegal FOR ABOUT A MILLION reasons.....

    1. Someone did contact the news one time and they actually showed up. The office manager wouldn't talk to them and the person that called got evicted because of it. So I won't be calling.

  20. When the punishment is a fine, those with the money just consider that the cost of doing business.

  21. I lived in a pretty bad apartment complex from April of 2021 until December of 2022. I had sued to get out of my lease and won, because I did not have heat or AC. It was terrible, and I would make blog posts about it if I actually remembered some of the things. I think I blocked them out. There were a ton of stray cats, and getting them TNR'd was a legit nightmare.

  23. The homeless do cause some trouble at times.
You will be glad when that man goes.

  24. wahoo for bb guy to be moving!! I hope you get nice people this time moving in. Around here tree companies butcher maple trees and it looks so awful. Why plant a tree that grows really tall then hack it down???

  25. The leaves and branches might still come out again with spring and summer, my neighbour always trims his trees literally to the trunk and it is still again filled with massive branches until mid summer.
