Apartment Life #249

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 23 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 23 years here in a weekly blog post.

----

Last Saturday night the police were outside my place pointing an assault rifle (My brother said it was an AK47) while walking around because someone was shooting off fireworks and someone must have called in a shots fired to 911. The police asked my daughter if she heard any gun shots when they saw her outside and she even told them it was just fireworks. But they were walking around my street pointing their flashlights and guns into parked cars and into the stair wells across street at people's doors as they were checking behind bushes, cars, around corners and down the street. They had their guns drawn the whole time. My camera doesn't take clear pictures at night and I wasn't about to start flipping flash bulbs at the police as they are on alert and have their weapons drawn. Nope.

----

I was in my room and just happened to look out the window as I opened the curtains and of course there was a police car right there. I took a look in my courtyard and they were at the apartment directly across from me. They didn't stay long so I don't know what happened.

---

And to further the discussion from last week, my daughter spotted an ambulance in front of my complex and snapped a picture for me. This time it's one of the white AMR ambulances. Last week there was a red Fire Rescue Ambulance. We also have blue ambulances here from a privately owned company but I hardly ever see them. I didn't see who was taken in the ambulance this week.

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  1. At least it was a false alarm this week, but gun drawn are...unnerving, I suppose 👀.

  3. Excellent that the guns were fireworks (except those in police hands - which would have made me nervous).
We only have one type of ambulance.

    1. The police were here for a while and people were just walking around for the most part.

  4. Fireworks in April, oh wow, and the fact that it happened in your area comes as no surprise that someone called the police.

    1. People start setting off the fireworks early around here. For the next 3 months we'll be hearing fireworks around here.

  5. Police cars, ambulances, firetrucks - not my favorite sight. They all have the right equipment, yet the outcome of their actions is not always successful.

  6. Well, that was scary with the rifles. It seems as though the cops are on high alert these days, which is understandable.

  7. Never a dull moment there. I definitely wouldn't use flash at police with weapons drawn either!

  8. My life has been so sheltered I've never seen anyone fire a gun and I don't know if I'd recognise a gunshot if I heard one!

The police were certainly checking out the area very thoroughly. I wonder what they were looking for?

    1. They were looking for someone with a gun because they didn't believe it was fireworks. I can tell the difference between a gunshot and a firework since I've herd both a lot. I've fired guns before.

  9. Yeah I wouldn't want to use my flash with their weapons drawn either!!!

  10. It's good that they didn't find anyone with a gun. I'd hate to be a cop in that kind of situation. At least they showed up to investigate the situation. Stay safe and have a nice and hopefully quiet day.

  13. Yeah scary times with cops and guns although it's tough to be a cop too. I'd keep my head down too. :)

    1. Right. If there was someone out shooting I would want them to come and check it out.

  15. Omg! Having anyone, even the police, walking around with an AK-47 would scare me! I'd be worried I'd be caught in the crosshairs if something went wrong. Glad nothing happened! Stay safe, Mary!

  18. Sounds like fun in your neighborhood, as always! I'm glad it didn't turn out to be any actual shooters this time.

  19. It's always good when it turns out to be a false alarm -- but that doesn't stop the stress in the moment.

  20. I don't know how you get any sleep with all the activity constantly happening in your neighborhood.

  22. Hey Mary, sorry so long since visiting. I'm not sure how much more of this kind of "excitement" I'd be able to tolerate. I'm pretty sure I'd have moved to the woods by now. I admire your patience!
