I'm Going To Bug You

Warning: This post will have pictures of bugs. If you don't like bugs, you can leave now.

Every Summer and sometimes in the Winter the bugs seem to come out and I find weird things in my apartment. One year it was spiders, another it was lady bug larvae and this year it's been beetles. This is a baby stink bug. They don't bite, or at least I've never been bitten from them and I've handled several of them. You don't want to squish these things because they put out a really bad smell when you do. So just take them back outside. I take all the bugs I find, back outside.

This was a tiny beetle. It was really tiny and was crawling near my laptop.

This is how tiny it was which is why I couldn't get a good picture of it.

So imagine my surprise when I took it outside and it sprouted wings and flew away. Flying beetle with wings.

I'v made these kinds of posts over the years and if bugs interest you as much as they do me, then you might like these posts... Baby Ladybug Larvae, Sowbug, Stink bug

Aren't you glad I bugged you today?

  1. I catch and release when possible as well. Unless it's wasps, cockroaches, or ants. Those get squished.

    1. Oh I agree about all of those. But these little beetles are harmless.

  2. We have stink bugs as well here, we are not supposed to kill them according to law, so I just put them in a matchbox and take them outside... they usually return in like five minutes, so it is often like in a sitcom.

  3. We have a lot of stink bugs here. I do not have the gene that I can smell them, so I definitely kill every one of them! They are a nuisance.

    1. I didn't know there were people who couldn't smell them. That's so neat.

  4. I found a baby praying mantis in my house the other day. I very carefully took it back outside. I only wish I'd gotten a picture of it first.

  5. Hi, Mary!

WHAT??? You had The Beatles right there in your apartment? Oops, sorry... I had the wrong spelling. :) Like you, I am fascinated by bugs, and if I find them in the house, I prefer to escort them back outside. Mrs. Shady would rather just spray and stomp them. She gets angry with me when I am too kind to my insect friends. Here in Florida we have large flying "Junebugs" that often come into the house. They are actually large enough to name and keep as pets, but Mrs. Shady frowns on the notion. :)

Thanks for playing show & tell with your bug collection, dear friend Mary, and have a nice Thursday!

    1. We don't have Junebugs here as far as I know but every once in a while I see really big water beetles. I'll try and catch one for the next bug post. lol

  6. If you lived in central Georgia, you would be in big heaven. I like insects and small critters too.

  8. Wow, that's a lot of bugs you get in your apartment. The only bugs we get in our house are the occasional woodlouse. We're still mystified as to where exactly they get in so can't take any preventive measures.

    1. The windows and door aren't sealed up tight so things get in at times.

    1. LOL My apartment is clean but bugs still get in through the cracks. It's a really old apartment so things get in.

  11. We get a lot of stinkbugs in the spring. I always pick them up and put them back outside, though they do tend to stick to my hands and I really have to give them a good shake to get them off.

  12. I like bugs lol Especially now that I'm in the PNW instead of FL and they won't kill me ha!

We have a LOT of stinkbugs out here in the spring . They invade the house and we have to very carefully get them outside because yeah...they're called stinkbugs for a reason.
