Apartment Life #270

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

---

I saw the police cars patrolling my street again too. They didn't stop but it seems like every time I step outside these days I spot them in the alley, on the street or going down side streets. I think they would see more if they stopped, got out of the cars and came into the courtyards. That's where most of the drug dealing is going on and where most of the druggies are laying around or sitting in front of people's doors waiting for the drug apartment to be open for business in the morning.

---

One night while my daughter was coming home from work she spotted this ax sitting near a tree outside my apartment complex.

Then she noticed that there was also a knife stuck in the tree right beside it. She decided not to touch either one in case something weird was going on. The next morning they were both gone.

----

There's a new tweaker woman in my neighborhood who has been hanging around down at the drug dealers apartment. And then on Tuesday Tweaker Lady was on the other side of the chain link fence and she stops and looks at me and says, "You're big. You're huge! There will be justice." And just kept on staring at me as I walked home. o.0

She's been spotted walking down the middle of the street waving her hands and yelling at people as well as yelling at no one. I think she might be mentlly ill maybe suffering from schizophrenia.

Wednesday morning my daughter tells me that Tweaker Lady and friend were sitting in our chairs in front of our apartment making a bunch of noise. My daughter confronted then and asked them to leave and they continued to sit there making noise for a while before they got up and left. I told my daughter to wake me up next time and I will make them leave. They won't ignore me. I'll throw a bucket of water on them, I don't care. Sorry, I'm just trying to clean my chairs and didn't see you sitting there.

---

Friday morning my daughter heard gunshots close by, maybe in the alley of our apartment complex. No one ever calls the police for that because it happens so often. I didn't hear it because my bedroom AC was on and it's loud and muffles any noise from outside.

The high this week was 105F/40C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

    1. Really? You've never heard someone called a tweaker before? Maybe I've just lived in the wrong places. lol

  4. Hi, Mary!

The temp in Vegas rising back up to 105 seems like the least of your worries at the moment, dear friend! I wouldn't have much peace of mind knowing that somebody is roaming my neighborhood with an ax and a large knife, or that police don't even respond to the sound of gunfire because it is such a common occurrence. I am thinking the cops have been instructed to simply sweep through your hood in their cars throughout the day and night, maintaining visibility, a police presence, as a quick and easy way of deterring crime. They should simply park a squad car on the block and put a dummy behind the wheel. The effect would be the same.

I wouldn't pay any attention to that meth lady's delusional ramblings. Clearly she likes to engage with everyone she encounters on the street, including the Invisible Man. I would hate finding riff-raff using the chairs in front of my apartment.

Thanks for the update on Apartment Life, dear friend Mary. I wish you a safe and happy week ahead!

    1. It was definitely an interesting week. I think the police are roaming around here for those reasons. There used to be a guy across the street who had an assault rifle and would bring it out during arguments. People have all kinds of weapons around here.

  5. I love your solution to the chair-grabbers. A bucket of cold water would send them on their way sharpish.

    1. Yeah it would but I hope it doesn't come to that because I would do it and then probably get my ass beat. lol

  6. It would be funny to create an improvisational scene with some of the elements of this post including the ax and the knife. Hope it doesn't get too dangerous in your area.

    1. That would be interesting. So far so good.

  7. The knife and ax ... very Dexter-ish. Someone means business. It's good your daughter didn't tough it. Could have been watching. A trap. After having said to you that "there will be justice", whatever that means, you should name the new tweaker lady "Avenger Tweaker".

    1. "touch it", damn autocorrect

    2. Yes, Dexter-ish is a good word for it. Ha, Avenger Tweaker. I love it.

  8. Someone obviously stole my idea of you walking the streets with an axe! How rude of them.

    1. Ha! Yes they did. Hopefully it's not one of the tweakers.

  9. Your tweaker lady should run for congress, she'd fit right in.

  10. Yikes. I can't imagine people sitting in your chairs. Talk about nerve. I loved the part about you throwing water on them- that would teach em haha but who knows what they'd do. I hope you don't have further trouble with then.

Ya too bad the cops don't patrol the courtyards, they could make some arrests. :)

  12. Sooo just a random ax and knife in/by the tree.... gone the next morning... that sounds like a horror film in the making!

  13. A bucket of water at the seat sitters will definitely get their attention. :)

  14. I don't like the sound of an ax and a knife in your neighbourhood...😲

All those people sitting in your chairs all the time - for goodness' sake.

"Friday morning my daughter heard gunshots close by, maybe in the alley of our apartment complex. No one ever calls the police for that because it happens so often."
Saddest statement ever. I suppose you all have given up on having a normal, crime-free environment...

    1. The AX and knife were just weird. I don't think it will ever be normal around here.

  15. Sorry, I was just cleaning my chairs...lol.

I am seeing a lot of ugliness in Portland right now. It's out here where I live as well, but we're in a neighborhood of single family homes so there's not as much of a transient population. Our society has been going to shit for a long time, but it's been a slow build up. Kind of like a big roller coaster. I think we're about to crest the top and then it's gonna be a screaming downhill ride.

  16. Never use anything but words against this kind of people that sit on your chairs or harass you. It might be dangerous.

  17. I wonder if the frequent drivebys are supposed to deter the dealers. It obviously isn't working. I wouldn't blame you for throwing a bucket of water on the women sitting right outside your apartment. Never a dull moment, is there?

    1. I think it might be but its not much of a deterrent.

  19. I would also guess schizophrenia and not on meds.
Coffee is on and stay safe

  20. Wow, you have some interesting experiences. I wonder where people get the nerve to just sit in front of someone else's house, in their chairs? They can't be right in the head or they have very low manners. Sorry you had to deal with that, Mary.

  21. Never a dull moment. I would think Tweaker Lady has SMI magnified by her Drug use. Those weapons at the Tree and then gone, would be concerning given the Nature of whose around there and very unstable. Glad the Police are Patrolling at least, perhaps even some presence might inhibit some Crimes from taking place?

  25. That would be alarming finding axes and knifes in a tree. Tweaker lady is rude and needs a pop upside the head. That would be the real justice.

  26. Wow, the ax and knife thing is really scary! 😲
