Apartment Life #286

This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell  Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that go on in and around my apartment complex in the past 24 years that we've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 24 years here in a weekly blog post.

My daughter took this picture with her phone since her phone takes good pictures at night. The ambulance was right across the street from us at 10pm when she got home from work. No idea what was going on but I didn't see anyone get taken away in the ambulance.

I figured out how to download a video I took years ago that I had put on Facebook. I hope this actually works. lol

We used to call this guy Banjo Man. He didn't live here, he would just walk around and if he saw someone outside, he would stand beside them and play his banjo. Most people got used to him really fast and would let him play near them. I took this video when Banjo Man was standing near my neighbor.

----

I had a package delivered on Tuesday at 6PM but the delivery person never knocked on my door so I didn't know it was out there. I went out just an hour later after seeing the message notification and it was gone. Someone stole it. Thankfully I was able to get a replacement sent out.

---

A neighbor had someone knock on his door late one night and when he opened the door the lady opened the screen door because he didn't have it locked and pushed her way in. Then she tried staying the night and when he told her she couldn't stay, she refused to leave. After an argument, he had to physically pick her up and put her outside where she decided it would be a good idea to throw a fit and start yelling and screaming. It was after midnight so I'm surprised one of his neighbors didn't call the police before she left. This is why I keep my screen door locked at all times so people can't just try to walk into my apartment.

----

And we've all been sick for almost 2 weeks and my daughter went and took a Covid test because her work told her she had to in order to take a week off from work. Last night the test came back positive so we all have Covid. But we're all doing alright. I'm actually feeling better, we just can't get rid of this cough.

The high this week was 64F/17C
The low this week was 26F/-3 C

So that's it for this week's Apartment Hell  Life! Be sure to come back next week for more.

  2. Sorry to hear you and your daughter are sick. Hopefully it runs its course soon. How is Falcor? Your missing package probably got traded to the dealer for drugs.

    1. Thanks, we are doing alright. Falcor is fine. I still have to walk him but I wear a mask and stay away from everyone.

The package was two small samples of shampoo. Maybe someone used it. lol

  3. I do hope that you recover. Quickly.
Banjo man wouldn't be welcomed by me.
I am sorry about your parcel - but glad that you got a replacement.

  6. I'm sorry you all are sick, but glad you're doing ok. Having a stranger pushing into your home is scary. --And I'm glad you're able to get the package replaced. :)

  7. Really sorry you have it. The variant is running crazy through vaccinate and un-vaccinated alike.

  8. Hi, Mary!

I'm very sorry to learn that you and your daughter are laid low with COVID. Thank goodness you are both doing alright even though pesky symptoms persist. I hope both of you feel better by the hour and day.

I take it Banjo Man was a busker playing for tips. If that was the case, I can understand why people eventually tried to avoid having him stand next to them expecting money.

What an awful feeling to know that a package delivered to your doorstep isn't safe unless you immediately bring it inside. I'm glad you were able to have the stolen item replaced w/o any further hassle.

With the temperature dipping down, I'm thinking the woman who barged into your neighbor's pad wanting to crash for the night might have been cold and seeking a better place to sleep than next to one of those utility boxes.

Have a good week and feel better, dear friend Mary!

    1. Thank you, I hope so too.

Banjo man had an apartment down the street. He didn't play for tips, I think he was just lonely and this was his way of being around people. He was a nice guy.

The woman has an apartment down the street. I think she was just so high she didn't know what she was doing.

  9. I see things are still crazy as ever around there. You have banjo man and we have air guitar man here - but everyone steers clear of him lol.

I'm so sorry to hear you have Covid. It's probably just a matter of time for all of us with the way things are going. I hope you will recover quickly!

  11. The video doesn't work for me - I don't know why.

The usual craziness around there, right? Except for Covid of course. I hope it won't affect you worse than it already does and will go away quickly! I was thinking, though...how is poor Falcor faring without his outings?

    1. I don't know why either.

I still have to walk the dog. I just wear a mask and stay away from everyone. I've been sick for 2 weeks and they say you're only contagious for the first week. But I'm never around anyone outside so it's fine.

  14. Banjo Man sounds like such a character, though I imagine spontaneous banjo playing would get old very quick.

  15. Banjo Man would creep me out. My friend had a package stolen while she was at work, so I told her I’d run over to her place when she gets notification that something’s been delivered since I’m only 5 minutes away. I hope you all feel better soon.

  16. I am so sorry to hear that your family has Covid, Mary. I hope that you are able to get rid of your cough soon. I am lucky and nobody usually messes with packages on my porch but I am always nervous when something is delivered while I am at work. I hope you have a good week.

  17. Oh No, so sorry to hear you all caught The Rona, we might have it here, I'm Quarantining even tho' you can't find Testing anywhere in a reasonable time frame and no Home Tests are available nor are Hospitals able to Test, they ran out... I got Pneumonia and the Cough, but they couldn't conclusively say whether it was regular Pneumonia or COVID Pneumonia... everyone in our house is Coughing... but... it is Cold and Respiratory Season too... so who knows? Hope you all recover completely... Banjo Man, is he still around? As for those who force themselves in, and Porch Pirates, that's a nuisance nobody needs in their communities.

  19. Sorry you and your family have COVID. Hope that cough goes away quickly. And what a bite that your package got stolen. I hate when they don't knock! (And we keep our screen door locked all the time, too.)

Oh no- sorry to hear about the Covid. My daughter just found out she was exposed at school (shocker, I know) so we're wondering now if she/ we have it. So far no symptoms. I hope you guys stay mild and that those coughs go away. Be well Mary!!!

  30. I hope you all recover quickly from your dose of covid. Luckily Jenny and I haven't caught it as yet.

So what happened to banjo man? Did he just disappear one day?

A lot of people in the UK have had problems with parcel deliveries - they're just left on the doorstep or even left in a wheelie bin.

  31. Ha ha ha ha... when Covid is over with, I should walk around my neighborhood and stand next to people and play my guitar. 😆
