The Sunflower
Every year my daughter plants something different in her little patch of garden that she made in front of our apartment. This year she wanted to grow a couple of sunflowers.
It didn't take long for the stems to get really long.
Some of them grew and some didn't.
But this week, we have a sunflower blooming. The plants in the little pot were wild flowers but most of them died before they bloomed. I think it was too hot.

Nice-looking sunflower. Glad it survived to bloom despite all the creeps you have wandering around.
ReplyDeleteThe creeps seem to leave our stuff alone for the ost part.
DeleteSunflower did quite well.
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy with it.
DeleteA personal burst of sunshine - lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSimply a beautiful burst of yellow. Hopefully no one in the neighborhood comes by and Snips off the flower to take home. Your daughter has a green thumb for your hot weather.
ReplyDeleteThey haven't before when we had wild flowers so I'm hoping they don't with this too.
DeleteWhat a cheery beauty!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt's lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSunflowers are a joy. I don’t think there were any fields locally this year, but I have enjoyed them in the past.
ReplyDeleteI love them too.
DeleteCongratulations on the lovely cheery sunny sunflower, always smiling at the sun! And the seeds can feed the birds.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous sunflower! I have some growing in my backyard; the birds love them. And wildflowers can be hard to grow. I've never had much success getting them to bloom.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am loving the sunflower.
DeleteReally beautiful Sunflower. I think the link on NightCafe was wrong. Here is my gallery. https://creator.nightcafe.studio/u/DVArtist

DeleteHopefully the sunflower will also bring in birds!
ReplyDeleteI hope so.
DeleteI love it! What a great little bit of joy there! My husband gave me a cut sunflower (small kind) for our anniversary last week.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet.
DeleteBeautiful! I love seeing the progression
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHer sunflower did great. I've tried to grow them and they do well until they bloom and the deer and squirrels get to them. I love that she does the corner flower bed each year.
ReplyDeleteShe loves her little garden.
DeleteThat's awesome! The squirrels and chipmunks always eat our seeds, so no sunflowers here.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHello Mary,
ReplyDeleteSunflowers are happy flowers, they just make me smile. Beautiful! Have a great day and a happy Labor Day weekend.
Thank you.
DeleteWe used to have fields of sunflower back at our old farming estate, they are so sticky when you try to pluck the seeds out of the flower head.
ReplyDeleteReally? I had no idea since I've never handled a sunflower before.
DeleteI never had success growing sunflowers at my house. Something ate them. I'm glad one of your daughters' survived. They are such beautiful flowers. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteYes, there's another one that looks like it might flower in a little while as well.
DeleteA happy flower to greet each day,
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI love it. I had sunflowers in my garden over a decade ago. In the fall, I threw the dead ones behind the fence onto an easement and sunflowers bloomed all along the easement for the entire block for the next five or six years.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretty.
DeleteYour sunflower 🌻 💛 is beautiful, Mary.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWOW! Super cool and super pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
