This is a weekly blog post that I'm calling Apartment Hell Life. I've mentioned a few times some of the crazy things that have gone on in and around my apartment complex and in my neighborhood in the past 27 years that I've lived here and people keep telling me I should write a book. But instead of a book, I've decided to share the crazy things that have happened in and around my apartment complex in the last 27 years here in a weekly blog post.
This week was pretty quiet. So I figured I would show you what happened the night of the 4th of July since I didn't post the videos in time for last weeks post. After some of the fireworks had been used a couple of teens were being nice and throwing them in the dumpster but they forgot to dunk them in a bucket of water first to make sure they weren't still hot, and it caught the dumpster on fire. Thankfully there wasn't much in the dumpster and the adults out there were able to put it out as you'll see in the next video.

And then a short clip of the fireworks going off in my neighborhood on the 4th. There were so many illegal fireworks in my neighborhood. Anything that flies into the sky or spins is illegal but people still had them.
Falcor was fine during the fireworks. He sat next to me on the couch and had his blanket to hide in. He slept most of the night except when the roman candles made their loud booms.

Wednesday night I heard a bunch of yelling from outside my bedroom window. I looked out and there were 2 guys screaming at each other and an older man holding a cloth on his head. The red headed man was mad at the dark haired guy for hitting the older man in the head. The redhead was ready to fist fight the dark haired guy but several women were holding the dark haired man back. The redhead's wife was on the phone with police and they showed up fast.
There were 4 police cars that showed up and then the ambulance showed up for the man who got hit in the head.
There were so many people outside screaming at each other that it took all the police that showed up to break them up and settle things down. The hurt man got in the ambulance but I didn't see anyone get arrested.
The high this week was 112F/44C
The low this week was 83F/28C

Hi, Mary! 112 degrees out there? That's awful, dear friend! We reached 103 in our neck of the woods a little over a week ago and 99 is expected to be our highest temp this coming week. If the 4th of July was going to turn into a dumpster fire, you got off pretty easy with a small blaze that was easy for neighbors to extinguish. A guy with a bloody head and a group of people screaming at each other in the parking lot is not a good look for your neighborhood. I'm sorry it's come to that and hope people will settle down and try to get along. I'm sorry to see the look of fear and stress on my buddy Falcor's face due to the loud popping of fireworks.

DeleteFireworks! Big or small I'm not really a fan of them. So good to know that Falcor felt safe inside your home. I do remember when I was a kid using the sparklers, and how all those Sparks really did burn your arms. Ouch, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm no longer a big fan of fireworks. I was when I was little but so many people have the illegal ones and it's no fun to worry the roof will catch fire.

DeletePrivate fireworks are banned here too, and surprisingly most people respect the ban. Good to know there wasn't much in the dumpster when it was set on fire.

DeleteGlad to hear Falcor was OK. Dogs are notoriously prone to being scared by fireworks.

I'm surprised that the fire could be put out by people just pouring bottles of water on it. At any rate it's lucky that they were conscientious and dealt with it.
He was fine inside. We did several walks before it got dark. The fire was small thankfully.

ReplyDeleteFireworks are pretty, but I don't the loud ones. I'm glad Falcor was all right. We've had dogs trying to dig through the floorboards because they were so terrified.
I'm glad he doesn't get that scared of them.

DeleteWell, at least those teens were in good faith. Glad poor little Falcor wasn't too traumatised by the fireworks. And oh, a fight...how novel. I hope the injured man didn't have it too bad. Your temps are awful, but then again, Europe is giving your area a run for its money lately...

DeleteI'm glad Falcor was mostly chill during the fireworks. I HATE fireworks in my neighborhood, although I'm a fan of going to firework shows, not that we do that anymore, either. Too peopley.

DeleteI also am glad Falcor was okay. Lucky boy to have you take care of him. One busy week in your neighborhood. Fireworks are set off in our neighborhood too. I worry one is going to land on our roof but fortunately we had a heavy downpour that started right after the last firework.

DeleteHow nice your dog was okay with the fireworks when Frodo was middle aged he was terrified but when he was deaf in old age he could not hear them and we were relieved.

DeleteI live outside city limits where fireworks are allowed, so it was a very loud night. It seemed like all the neighbors were doing fireworks. They were nice to look at though. I'm glad your dog did well! I have one dog that got very scared, but the other two did fine.
